  1. Yes..... I had 51E's on mine and it drove me nuts. I now have Daiwa Lexa's on my ET smallmouth rods and they don't move at all
  2. Same, in fact I don't care for Norman baits at all. People rag on SK for QC but IMHO Norman is worse.
  3. If your looking for a real small craw to use on a shaky head look at Big bites 3" craw worm, that thing is tiny but deadly.
  4. These reels interest me, who has one? All my casting reels are now Daiwa Exceler's or Lexa's, but I am not opposed to a Lew's.
  5. "Cool story bro" time a-gain.................My mother in law used to live in the woods, a bear came right in the back yard to see what was going on one day while we were having a mothers day picnic. I yelled at it, and waved a stick menacingly in it's direction and it went away. It was "just" a small black bear, but that's what I had always been told you do with a bear...is yell at it and they will run, they are more scared of you I guess. Now if it was some giant grizzly I might have not tried that.
  6. I am looking for something to do between putting the bass stuff away and safe ice, I have ZERO knowledge of the gear needed for this, I'm going to shoot you a pm about it.
  7. Take this for what it's worth.............people who recommend moderate action cranking rods for ripping traps and square bills out of grass lose all credibility to me on rod selection. It's just not the right tool for the job, just like you wouldn't punch mats with a fly rod. If your fishing grass.........get the M/F, if your fishing wood/rock get the MH/M. I had both those rods (M/F was a LTB, and MH/M was a Mojo), if you want something to do both, the M/F will be the more versatile stick.
  8. Rained out at work,so I went and got soaked and frozen on Silver. I said to myself that I would be happy with one pike, one largemouth, and one smallmouth. It took me four hours to accomplish this but I did,and left lol. I might be done for the year. Usually late October, early November is pretty good out there, but something's off this year and for two weeks... Well actually all year( but but September through mid October were decent)Silver has stunk,
  9. 1/16th up to 1oz. Depends on conditions.
  10. No LOL here............I agree. Seen it many times.
  11. I fished St Croixs for 7-8 years. I only switched to something else out of being board with them and wanting to try something new. At first it was Abu rods.......which I liked, but are not what is being asked about, so I'll refrain, then/currently it's Fenwick. I have Elite Tech's, HMX's, and HMG's. Here is my take on a Fenwick vs. St Croix debate. Keep in mind I don't think it's fair to compair US made St Croixs to imported Fenwicks, that's a different ball game IMHO, If you want to compare apples to apples, compare Fenwicks to St Croixs import models (Triumph's, Mojo, Rage) : St Croix's US made rods have the better warranty and use better components than both there own imports, and Fenwick rods (guides, reel seats, grade of cork, etc....) St Croix's import rods are WAY WAY over priced for what you get, especially compared to Fenwick. Fenwick simply has the better "bang for the buck" in import rods..........IMHO HMG > Rage for $50 less, Elite Techs > Rage for the same money..................BUT it's up to you to decide. Like I said with the extra $$ for a St Croix US made rod, your getting the better guides, and warranty, and the made in USA factor if that matters to you, with the import rods from St croix, IMHO your not getting full value for the buck.
  12. This weekend was a no-go. Snow, wind, rain, sometimes all at once...........I never even drove by the lake. Getting to be almost time to call it.
  13. This, with the hook on the hook keeper.
  14. #1...be available in LH retrieve, beyond that.....externally adjustable brakes, long handle for leverage, less than 8 oz, multiple gear ratio options, and palms well. The current reels I am infatuated with are the Daiwa Lexa's and Exceler's.
  15. 20lb Power Pro braid, with a 10,12, or 15lb fluoro leader as needed.
  16. Yesterday afternoon was a dud,one small pike to avoid getting totally skunked. I lost a big largemouth boat side.... But I don't want to be " that guy" lol.
  17. I had that idiotic thought too, I quickly changed my mind...In fact I have done a 180 on rods the last two weeks. A finally got my hands on a new Elite Tech Bass, and HMG's and was totally impressed, enough so to want to ditch all my current rods (abu vendetta's and veritas's) for these.
  18. Mustad KVD's. The 1x strong, 2x short, triple grips. I use them on everything.
  19. I have 8 casting, and 6 spinning.
  20. I drop shot in all depths, from the bank out to the abyss. It is the most effective way to catch bedding smallmouth I have found yet, but you didn't hear it from me.
  21. I'm a Red Eye Shad man. I roll with three colors. Albino craw, Chili Craw, and Japanese shad
  22. I couldn't help it,I want out and battled the wind for about three hours. I was rewarded with a 5lb 7oz.largemouth, a 2.5lb smallmouth, and a pair of clone small keeper largemouth.
  23. $*@ing wind!!!! I don't have many days left and today is ruined by mega wind. I don't mind, and actually prefer some wind but it's blowing 20+ sustained with gusts as high as 35-40 out of the NW. Combined with damp, 40 degree air temps, I think I'll pass today. They are probably biting too.
  24. Nonsense..... If you can tie a proper knot or thread line through the guides, you can replace a tip top properly... If you know how to read instructions. It's not like he's trying to re-wrap a guide further down the blank.
  25. Don't be a butt hole, and don't trust anyone who claims to be your friend only to find out how/where/when your catching them and then forgets you exist after they "think" you have showed them everything.
