  1. Thanks for the input, I'll check that out. There are a few open water areas available, but I figure I'd have to anchor on the shallow break, let the wind point me downwind and point the livescope that direction to be able to track my bait. (I don't have spot-lock) It's pandora's box adding a 2nd graph as well. Bigger battery, power distribution system, graph mounting, black box mounting, pole mounting, etc...🤔
  2. I picked up a Garmin 32LVS for ice fishing and am debating the following options: 1) Replace my current Humminbird set up with the Garmin 2) Install both 3) Just use the Humminbird Options 1 & 2 open the door to a bunch more spending, so I'm debating on the practical applications. Typically, I'm in 5ft of water or less with abundant weeds and structure. Otherwise, I ordered the new Wizard foot control steering, hope to get it soon. Looks like a nice improvement.
  3. Same here. I mainly fish the back waters of the Mississippi and it works perfectly. Pull up to a spot, anchor and stand up to pick it apart. Won’t leave the ramp without it. Deeper water is constantly busy with boat traffic, I try to avoid that as much as possible.
  4. Anything with a Spunk Shad type trailer. I've had excellent luck on chatterbaits & swim jigs using a Keitech, but I haven't any luck with the pin tailed plastics. They look fantastic in the water, I'm telling myself it's just a matter of time.
  5. I fish it primarily as a frog rod, occasionally for buzzbaits . Fishing from a kayak, it's nice to have a shorter option to help walk the dog and not be slapping the water surface with the rod tip. I also have the 74HF, and typically use that for swim jigs in heavy cover.
  6. I think I’m finally getting to the point of gear saturation. I bought 4 combos this year, all of which were on sale or used (ALF), but I have just about every power/action combo I need for what I throw. I’ll probably just be ordering tackle to replace the usual consumables for a while and go with what I’ve got. Reading your posts helps reiterate the point that skill, knowledge and time on the water will always catch more fish than more tackle will.
  7. I have Suffix 832 spooled in yellow, neon lime and white on different spinning reels in various tests. (8,10,15) I just spooled up a new reel with the Seaguar JDM PEX8. I've only fished it a few times and I can't tell if it's the new reel or the line, but it's buttery smooth. It just seems to float off the reel. (in a good way)
  8. Tough to justify if you only plan to use it occasionally, but they do work pretty reliably like Volzfan59 said. I've got a Torqeedo to get from place to place, but like to anchor once I get to a spot and position myself with the wind. If you have Spotlock and you're only using for less than 3', you may want to buy the pole and try it manually first. I've used mine that way a couple times when I forgot the battery and it worked, I just needed to remember that it was next to me, otherwise I'd hit it while casting. That was with the 8' pole, though. A 6' pole might be handier. I double checked, the sale I had was only 10%, like you mentioned it was probably a first-time buyer code. Better than paying full price, though.
  9. There's a couple places that occasionally have a site-wide 20% off sale, I was able to scoop up a whole system that way. There might be one or two places that have something for Memorial Day. It is a good chunk of money, I was a bit skeptical about putting that much money down for one. But after having one for a couple years, I wouldn't want to be without. It's invaluable for being able to stop and pick apart fishing spots.
  10. I purchased the same rod (although it's a one piece) with the intention of using for larger swimbaits & rat lures. I have the reel loaded with 60lb braid. I haven't had much chance to try it out, but I don't think you'll have any issues with 50-60 lb braid.
  11. I run a SS127 with the 403. I originally had the smaller battery and bought the larger one as well. The extra travel distance was worth it, I don’t need to worry about what speed I’m running at to get from point A to point B and I’ve rarely gotten down past 20% in a day of fishing with the larger battery. I like to stand and anchor to fish, so the Torqeedo/power pole combo works perfect for me in shallow water. 90% of the water I fish is under 5ft. I had an issue with the internal tilt sensor, it was just about out of warranty, they sent me a brand new pylon within a week or so.
  12. I'd like to see some additional blanks used in the Legend X line up as well. But my pocketbook is thankful they haven't.
  13. What water depths are you guys typically fishing? I've been contemplating the same purchase. I'm fishing the Mississippi river, pools 7 & 8, but in the backwaters. I usually fish in 4-5' of water and anchor with a micro Power pole, makes it easier to stand and pick apart weed edges & pads. I'm wondering how effective Livescope is in those depth ranges, using any of the modes. Just from what I've researched, the landscape mode is good for finding structure, but doesn't necessarily give the same feedback to fish location/reaction as the other modes. I think I've successfully beaten the Kayak Monkey and convinced myself Livescope isn't worth the investment for my style of kayak fishing, but I don't want to tempt him.
  14. I had the same problem, losing Vision 110s and Jackhammers to pike. I bought some titanium leader material use a 9-10" piece as leader material. I put a weight stop on the main line to protect the rod tip from the connection knot, just in case. Worked like a charm, I didn't lose a single jerkbait or chatterbait to pike last year and caught several. It's a bit of pain to tie the knots while fishing, I carry an extra pair of pliers to help tighten the knots.
  15. You may want to check out the new line of St Croix Legend Tournament Pike rods if your budget allows. They have four models at or under 7’4” that cover different lures rates. I just got the 7’4”, hoping to throw rats and wake baits with it.
