  1. Thanks for the reply Woody - I appreciate the info. Kayak seems to be the best option at least in NC. I'll look into how the ramps look down river into SC as well. Thanks again
  2. Would I be able to get a boat in the Broad River in NC? or only Kayak? Moving to Mt Holly in the coming months and I'm not familiar with the river. I've heard good things about smallmouth fishing there. Will be getting a 17 - 19 ft aluminum for the lakes in the area but wanted to see if I'd need a kayak to access the Broad River. Thanks in advance.
  3. I appreciate all of the advice Phil. Will take all of this into consideration when I decide to buy. 18-28k will be the sweet spot and then I'll try to leave some room to upgrade trolling motor/electronics/etc. Thanks again!
  4. Thanks for the reply and info. Was leaning towards aluminum and everyone's replies in here definitely confirmed it for me. How are the rivers in the area? I've heard great things about the broad river for smallmouth but have also heard it's tough to get a boat in there. thanks everyone! very helpful. Was leaning more towards aluminum and all of these comments confirmed it for me. Have a great 4th all sorry i dont know how messaging works in here hahaha
  5. Thanks for the reply and offer to take me on Wylie. Will definitely let you know when I'm in town to see if you are heading out on the lake - I'll cover the gas of course. Much appreciated will definitely check this model out. looks exactly like what I'm looking for. How is the stability when you're moving around the deck? Also, super random, but is the storage waterproof? Just curious... was watching a review of the Tracker 190 yesterday and one of the complains was wet storage compartments after rain. Not a dealbreaker by any means but wanted to get your thoughts. Thanks for the reply and suggestion, greatly appreciated.
  6. Hey all. Was hoping for some advice on a bass boat the for lakes and rivers around the Charlotte, NC area. In the process of building a house in Mt Holly, NC and am on the fence on whether I should do aluminum or glass. Will be just be the dog and I fishing mostly, and then maybe a passenger or two here and there. I'll be fishing Wylie, Norman, High Rock/Tillery/Badin, Lake James, Lake Lure, and pretty much anywhere within an hour and a half. Would also like to make trips to Lake Murray and the Santee Cooper lakes as well. Think I'd be okay going Aluminum? The budget will be around 40k give or take a few k. I don't know much about the lakes in the area so wanted to see if the locals had any advice. Thanks in advance. -Frank Costanza
  7. Yeah, it looks tiny on the map so that definitely makes sense. Thanks for the info!
  8. Awesome, thanks Woody. I will send a PM the next time I'm in Charlotte for a few weeks - would be great to tag along if you're planning on heading out on the water at any point that week. Will pitch in for gas of course. Thanks again! Do you ever fish King Mountain Reservoir? I haven't seen too much about it online so am curious. Trying to decide exactly where I want to live in the area is difficult, especially not knowing too much about the lakes in the area. I know it's a bit more rural out West of CLT which is ideal.
  9. Welcome! I'm new to the forum as well (NC/SC). East TN is such a good spot to be for fishing (from someone who has never fished there but I have the internet ha!)
  10. If I had family in TN that'd be my number one destination. Just looking at the map there is so much water.
  11. I know, right?! Unique situation where I have family in 3 different locations (CLT, PI, Summerville) but all of my friends live in the Charlotte area. Also no lakes here in PI. But I love it here and wish they'd put a lake in nearby haha. Thanks for the welcome!
  12. Thanks, A-Jay! I see you're a Michigan man - gotta love the smallmouth up there. Thanks for the welcome!
  13. Hey all! I'm new to the forum and am looking forward to getting started! I grew up fishing on Lake Ontario and am currently living in Pawleys Island, SC fishing on the Waccamaw River. I'll be relocating to the Fort Mill, SC area (most likely) at some point next year but have ties to Pawleys Island, SC, Charlotte, NC, and Summerville, SC due to family. None of my friends fish so this forum will be an awesome place for me. I'm currently in the housing market so I'm waiting on getting a boat, but bass fishing is all I think about and want to do. I would be interested in meeting some local anglers and being a boater in any local tournaments (ideally Santee Cooper, Wylie / Norman, or the Waccamaw). None of my friends fish and my brother / father aren't as big into it as I am - the idea of meeting folks from the internet isn't my cup of tea, haha, but most people on here seem very normal and friendly. I would definitely like to network with some local anglers and learn from each other, and get out on the water to catch some pigs. Looking forward to being on this site daily! Thanks, Connor
