  1. If I saw it correctly, digitaka has deps slideswimmer 250s for 8k Yen…about $50 USD. That’s a little over $100 off of regular price at online retailers.
  2. I used to live in Buford, and me and my son comes to the area a few times a year for some rock climbing competitions. I’ll have to stop by there next time!
  3. There’s still a gander mtn around?
  4. I just got off the phone with the bait monkey. He called to tell me personally that he appreciates me… Father’s Day and my birthday are a week apart. Got some gift cards. The below is what I got. I may, or may not have, spent more than the $150 I got. SWMBO may, or may not, know about all these purchases.. I can’t get all my pics small enough to post all at once.. 5. I used to travel for work a good bit and I’d always find a lumber yard, wood store, etc to feed my woodworking hobby. Since I no longer work, I’ve added fishing to that list. We all know the BPS/Scheels/Academy/Dicks, etc big box stores. But, I thought it would be interesting to see what local/ mom and pop tackle stores you like in your area. Thought it might be kinda cool if someone is traveling and they want to go… I’ll start If you’re in N Alabama, or SE TN, or NW GA, you owe it to yourself to at least make a swing by Waterfront Grocery and Tackle at Lake Guntersville (think they have a Scottsboro address). Awesome selection of everything you want. Lots of small lure builders offerings as well as the big guys like Megabass. They have a huge selection of G Loomis rods, MB rods and Shimano/Diawa. Reels from every manufacturer you know. Every soft plastic imaginable, terminal tackle selection beats BPS/Cabelas any day. Live bait as well. Open early and the staff is very knowledgeable not only about what’s working on the lake, but what’s working on different parts of the lake. Another N Alabama (and funny enough, Middle MS) has a sporting goods store named Van’s. The one in N Alabama is real close to Smith Lake, one of the best stripper lakes around from what I’ve been told. Really good selection of fishing, firearms, clothing, etc. Good people, good selection. Chattanooga is home to a few good shops. Chickamaugua Lake and NikaJack Lake “surround” Chattanooga. I can’t remember any names of them, but I’ve been in quite a few. Hog Farmer baits is like 15mins north of Chattanooga and even though they are a larger company”, it’s good to go get stuff directly from them. Better bulk prices in store. Kevin
  6. I love them. I was in Chattanooga a month or so ago and ran by hog farmer. Let’s just say, I have more than my wallet wanted at the time…
  7. Maybe I could rework a pair of horse blinders? I just didn’t know if strength and action of the rod would matter.
  8. So I’m sitting here waiting on the FedEx man to show up with some of my birthday presents…s-waver 200, SPRO Chad Shad and MB Vitalion. I really want to see what the action is like prior to fishing them. I have a creek next to my house that has a deep pocket in it. So, I want to go there. This may be a stupid question, but would the action be different on a different rod/setup than the one I intend to throw them on? For example, I intend to thrown them (prob minus the MB) on my 7’-10” Mojo Bass Heavy. But, it’s easier to carry my 7’ Medium down there?
  9. I usually have most of mine with me, maybe 6 or 7? They range from 6’-10” spinning to a 7’-10” heavy swimbait rod.
  10. The hookup tackle is still running their 20% off gift cards. Also, they started the “double dip” program which adds an additional 20% off of certain brands/categories.
  11. Thanks @Rockhopper Most of my go to rods are in fact the mojo bass series, though not the trigon handle. I handled one today at Cabela’s and wasn’t a fan coming from what I am used to. That said, I got to looking at the GCX loomis rods as well, and wondered if it would be a step-up from what I have with the MojoBass already, or merely a “lateral”. In other words, is the loomis worth the extra Benjamin?
  12. Reminds me of when I was still working for the man. We’d schedule meetings before to talk about the meeting, have the meeting, and then meet to discuss the meeting.
  13. No biggie. Let me know if you still want to try.
  14. Since space is limited in my kayak, I use a few of these speed bags as well. However, I’ve found that I throw that in my kayak without even realizing it. That said, I rarely go to that bag because I recently got a couple of the track pack boxes and keep one loaded with go to trailers and the other with other go to soft plastics.
  15. To OP. If you’ll DM me your address, I’ll stick my VMC pliers and rings in the mail for you to use. If you like it, keep it, if not, send it back. I was not a fan, but that was just my experience. As stated above, they are really weird on sizing. I can’t remember what size rings I have, but I’ll throw them all in. Kevin
  16. I’m a kayak angler. I don’t keep my stuff in my boat, or in my truck. It stays in my garage. However, I try to keep it somewhat “organized” so when I do need it, I know where it is. I’ve left plenty of times without what I needed/wanted. Got a new Lowrance unit for Christmas this past year. First time I went to use it, it was at home. That was another 20 min drive one way to get it. So, I think I got about 5-15 mins of use with it 😂😂 My luck would’ve been that I traveled back home to get it, got back to the boat, and it would be dead.
  17. Thanks @TOXIC My normal “movement” to keep my joints more pliable is baseball umpiring. That adds an extra benefit because it’s speedo season and I gotta keep the glutes in check! 🤢🤢
  18. DANG DARRELL!!! YOU STOCKED UP!!! 😂😂😂
  19. There’s so much information on here that I appreciate when you help me out on a question like this… $100-$125 Cabela’s gift card. Need a jerkbait rod.
  20. Sorry no pics, but today is my birthday, so I got a $100 GC for Cabela’s. Then, I moseyed on here to waterfront tackle at Guntersville and picked up a few things… 2 yum Hellgremite 4 6th sense crush 55x 2 6th sense hair jigs 4 Vision 110s in various shad patterns. TN Shad being the one I am most excited to try. They seem to never have it in stock at my local Cabela’s. oh, and a chocolate birthday cake to boot…
  21. Anybody ever fish one bait exclusively to get comfortable and confident in it? For example, I want to throw more jerk baits this year, so one of my thoughts was to throw it exclusively for a few outings. I mostly kayak fish, paddle, so I don’t cover tons of water. I turned 50 today and have crappy shoulders, neck and knees from my military service, so long days for me are not that often. Maybe 3-4 hrs at a time.
  22. One reason I ask is that I usually carry about 6 or so rods with me and really wind up using only one or two. Jackhammer, swimbaits and crankbaits are what I seem to find myself throwing most often.
  23. Not hijacking this thread - if you are a combat wounded vet and are interested in learning hand tool woodworking, please dm me for more information. I know a lot of my brothers/sisters on here are disabled vets (like me), so I want to show the love.
  24. Probably already answered a few times, but my search abilities rival those of 98 yr old great grandmas… Anyway, how long do you fish a certain bait/technique before changing or noticing that you need to downsize/upsize? I’m very guilty of just throwing a bait until I just can’t stand it anymore always telling myself that “I’ll get a bite in the next 5 or so casts. If not, I’ll put it up and grab something else.” However, I ignore myself about as much as I ignore my wife (😳). Kevin
