  1. You know, I’ve been fishing baitcasters for like 40 yrs. I never knew that there was a backwards? I run my line through the line guide, go under the spool that way. Should I be going over the spool?
  2. Thank you for all the replies so far. 40 yrs ago, you had to keep your thumb pressure on. That’s how I cast, cast and immediately put my thumb on spool and regulate as @Bankc mentioned earlier. Heck, I even use thumb pressure on DC reels. It’s just what I’m used to. So update. The last time I cast with the mono (suffix elite 20lb), it backlashed pretty good, so I just cut and respooled with power pro. Weirdest thing is I can cast it a mile now? Should I try to respool with the mono and see if it was just a screw up in spooling the mono the first time? Like maybe it was real loose?
  3. Oh, I know about thumbing. All I throw is baitcasters. This was overrunning even with thumb pressure. The backlash wasn’t at the end meaning I didn’t backlash because I failed to thumb it.
  4. So, a while back, I bought a 13 fishing reel at TW on clearance for like $30. I have it on a 13 fishing fate black that was on clearance as well. Anyway, the rod is rated for 3/8 - 1 1/2 oz. It is spooled with suffix mono. Was trying to throw a Vega frog (5/8 oz) the other day. Pitching was fine, but casting is not. I have the spool tension tight, no play to play. I have the brakes on 10. It appears that the spool overrun happens in the backend of the cast. From what I understand, backlash in the last part is due to braking. Any advice?
  5. I just started tying the San Diego jam. Prob one of the easiest knots out there to tie (IMHO).
  6. I use the Alberto with a few half hitches as well.
  7. Yeah, that’s a no now too. All gear ratios sold out…
  8. Haha. I had to order some cheap blanks on Amazon to practice on. I’ve got too much free time on my hands and try to do all the things. There may not be any pics depending on my painting ability!!
  9. Silverback got me again. Just bought three Klash knock-offs to paint.
  10. For what it’s worth, I fish SLX DCs and Curado MGLs (mainly). I had a Curado DC but FOR ME, I didn’t see the benefit of the extra $70 over the MGL. However, it is a cool sound, but I find myself fishing more and more with my Curados…
  11. I just texted Chad Hoover. I told him I’d give him a big hug and a juicy kiss on the cheek if he’d bring me one back. He just laughed and said that he had to get one first!

    ICast 2024

We talked a little earlier. I was at my therapists office, and he walked in when I was walking out. He looked very depressed. So I told him that I would go to lurebuild and buy a Klash KO in each size so I can paint them. That seemed to cheer him up a little. Come on folks - he needs us right now…No monkey left behind
  13. BOGO means each one is half off. I can explain that to the wife much better!!! “No honey, I’m not spending $100 on one bait. I’m only spending $50.” $50 is an easier number to swallow 😂😂
  14. Ooohhhh, lemme know about that one. More money going out!!
  15. You’ll be the first I send video of it in the water to….
  16. That big hairy dude got me again last night. I’m beginning to hate him but I like when he shows that massive silverback face. Latest purchase:
  17. I fish trebles up to 4oz on CXX 15#
  18. All I have to say is stay away from swimbait underground. They have a bait silverback. I’ve met him a few times. My wallet was not, nor still is, happy about those visits…
  19. Nothing big today…couple football jigs, some rage bugs and some stroker craws
  20. It was my honor @wdp as soon as I hit send, I saw your signature say “we ring true” and knew I was in good company! I’m originally from MS and my family has gone to State since the late 20s. My grandfather sold block ice on Main Street during the depression to keep being able to pay tuition. He graduated in ‘31 back when it was still MS A&M. My dad was a starting pitcher in the 60s and my cousin was an all American football player there…needless to say, I’ve got ties.
  21. Thank you for sharing. As a disabled veteran myself, I am hoping my kids don’t have to move me into a home. That said, I would have found ANYWHERE else to put him. Oxford, MS? Im a die hard state fan…sorry 😂😂
  22. Yeah, you’re probably right too. Going out in the am, plan to throw it a good bit. Will have more feedback tomorrow. May be that I’m good. I mean, really four inches of less rod probably wouldn’t make that much a difference anyway…
  23. Honestly, I think it’s just overall length. I fished it yesterday from the bank and don’t remember the handle length being an issue.
  24. I have a few custom jigs and hand pours from Soddy Custom. I may have been to Real Deal, but haven’t traveled over toward the Cleveland area..
  25. I need a new rod. Criteria: 7’6” or less H/XH ModF/F Lure rating 1ish-6ish oz Looking for a shorter rod than my SC MojoBass 7’10” to throw from my kayak. Preferably a blank from Mud Hole as I have a GC from there. If not, not a deal breaker. TW has the 7’6 Irod Sniper Swimbait for $130 on sale. I’ve heard good things, but can’t get my hands on one to try out.
