  1. Saw this thread the other day and just got around to coming back to post… read Columbia Craw’s post and no longer think my most memorable fish is even close to as special. Thank you CC for being a kind individual, not enough of that anymore.
  2. My father had a Ranger in the 90s, it was beautiful… when he went to sell it we took it out in the ocean once just to say we did.. it jumped from swell to swell… it was bananas. He’s really been trying to get me to get one but I’m just gonna keep collecting canoes.
  3. TushGuard Seat Cushion - Memory... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B5SW6381?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share what I use in my canoe
  4. Welcome, I’m on the south shore… some great fishing here.
  5. AlabamaSpotHunter put me onto the Armor Shads, I use the 2.5 and 3 inch.. I also really like the fish or die dagger, they’re a little more spendy but super durable as well.
  6. March 15-16 from the canoe, creeping a flatsided crank.
  7. I really need to stop checking this page, DSG just got me for $150 in Elite Evos.
  8. My father fished tournament when I was a kid so fishing with him was not fun for me.. it was too serious, too competitive. Too much like work. Which is from 16-41 I didn’t even touch a fishing rod… I got my license and was gone. This will be my 4th season back and I’ve been eyeing kayak tournaments since about the beginning of my return. Unfortunately my competitive nature has prevented me from getting involved. I didn’t want to get involved unless I felt confident my abilities had improved enough to MAYBE be competitive. That all said the local kayak series is doing a tournament this season on one of the lakes I consider home and I plan on fishing it. Last year, I planned on just showing up on tournament days and fun fishing, keeping track of my results and then comparing them to the results posted online. I didn’t do it, but seems like a possible way to measure yourself against others unofficially without $$$ on the line.
  9. The question seems to be geared toward quantity of fish.. I’ve found with big numbers quality happens too…last season went like this chatterbaits, full size and flashback minis… flashback mini caught more, I caught 2 MA trophies on full-size and 2 on the mini. Countless fish just shy of trophy class. booyah pond magic.. big numbers every year, 2 trophies last season.. 1 just shy.. same fish hit my next lure 5 days earlier. Catch and release works and I have photographic evidence. Lunkerhunt Compact Frog (smaller of the 2 sizes).. lots of fish, 1 trophy class… 1 just under, same one that hit the Booyah 5 days later 4 inch Yum Dinger, weightless, texposed on an EWG.. lots of fish every year.. a couple just short of trophy class last season. Small squarebills… I think they’re the 6th sense crush 25… 1/4 oz if I recall.. lot of fish.. nothing memorable size wise. runner up is a ned rig, I had less success with it this past season but in the past it’s been my #1 producer by a wide margin. The pattern in these baits is they are almost all small… small catches numbers here and with enough numbers size is usually mixed in.. For reference a MA trophy fish is 21 inches or more. Catch and release. PB on the pond magic
  10. My last (Massachusetts) trophy fish of the season came from the bank on my lunch break… I caught 6 more through the season from my canoes. I’ll never not fish the bank but I do significantly more damage from the canoe.
  11. Best. Fishing. Platform. Ever.
  12. Redbug was my standout color this past season.. the only soft plastic I really throw is a 4 inch dinger But I have about 10 other colors that also did well.. -motor oil red flake -junebug -black and blue -mardi gras -california craw -Green pumpkin purple flake -Carolina or green pumpkin with chartreuse tail all come to mind.. my goal for 2025 is to throw more styles of plastic.. I want to work on pitching and flipping.
  13. Great haul… I find that same 90 whopper plopper in “I know it” color every year at one of my favorite ponds.. always makes me wonder A. Is it the same guy? B. Did he catch his PB on one years ago and so now it’s all he throws?
  14. Beautiful canoe… I bet she takes you to your new PB.
  15. I have the Sportsman 119 from the first post which is the offspring of the NEXT, I’d love a NEXT btw, great pickup Swamp Girl. On the topic of paddling, I use a kayak paddle, you may want to try one with the NEXT. It takes a little getting used to but is significantly more efficient than the single blade.
  16. A. Bass are in fact the biggest/strongest fish I can easily access. B. I could saltwater fish but B1. I’m afraid of the ocean, I grew up on it and faced death a few times. B2. I spend about 3-5k a year bass fishing, if I took up salt it would be triple that.. at least. I would need a 2nd job, then I’d have no time to fish. B3. Even if I wanted to approach saltwater casually, which I’m not programmed to do, traveling although not actually far, would cut into my time on the water too much.. my 5 favorite bass ponds are 5-10 minutes from my house and/or job. Literally go on lunch break almost every everyday.
  17. During the summer I may have 2 frogs. One walking one popping.. I may have a full size chatterbait and 1 or 2 flashback minis, although I don’t consider the fullsize and the mini the same. I may have 2 different size/color/depth squarebills tied on at any time. I almost always have 2-3 spinnerbaits in different sizes or colors. those are the only things I can imagine having multiples of at any one time.
  18. I didn’t fish from (about) 1997 until July 3rd 2022… I may have missed my peak but I also may be in it now because I just had an unreal season after thinking last season was unreal. If I can keep this pace a few more seasons I’ll be happy.
  19. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Daiwa_Space_Age_Reel_Greaser/descpage-SRG.html https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Lucas_Oil_Fishing_Reel_Oil_1oz/descpage-LUCASFR.html these are the products I use, gears, bushings and surfaces that rub get grease.. bearings get oil.
  20. This is my most interesting find so far this lure hunting season… I mean how many more whopper ploppers are these kids going to throw into trees? I can’t tell if this is old or just looks old… any input from the crowd? Anyway might throw it at lunch just to see what the action looks like, not sure if the hooks will survive a strike.
  21. How many different bodies of water are you fishing? I’m assuming you’re in the bank? What are your 3 most productive lures? I’ll give you my guess of how to meet your goals… fish different water, that can mean try new ponds or lakes or get a cheap canoe and get yourself to different parts of your current fishery. I catch slobs in the little pond 5 minutes from my house.. you’d never guess looking at it how big the fish are but I catch most of them from a canoe targeting areas that nobody else does. I occasionally find them from the bank but I chalk those up to luck and knowing what baits were working the days before out in the canoe.
  22. My favorite pond a few weeks ago My favorite pond today.. they’ve dropped the water so much you can see the pollution.. people are the worst species. Yes, I removed the battery.
  23. PMed back.. for the record if anyone is ever wants to meetup down this way let me know. I’m always game for fishing with new people .
  24. This is the buddy that lives in Halifax?… that’s my area.. a lot of good water here. If you’re looking to fish the Braintree/Weymouth area I’m not a lot of help but if you want to come a little south I have suggestions. The closest suggestion I have for Braintree is Lake Holbrook, which is a blast if you want to catch 100 crappie, 8 yellow perch and 2-3 dink bass.
  25. 1970 C1P 11 foot double pointed… I got it from another BR member the beginning of last season and have been slowly restoring/modifying it. It flips people out when I’m standing up trolling motor at 50% power fishing a bank.
