Cliff
  7. heys doods...i was just wondering who coined the name "baitmonkey"? was it someone from this forum? has it been a saying for years and years? and why a monkey? why not the "baittiger"? or the "baitbat"? ;D just curious how that nasty little freak got his name thanks Cliff
  8. for all your round baitcaster needs.... http://www.abugarcia.com/cat.php?k=49999&sk=46555
  9. just looked at them again on abu's site....dosent seem they offer a lefty? plus it is a bit spendy for me right now...i think about $100 is gonna be my max.....the reason i am looking is i am going to be getting my new custom rod here soon, so i would like to have a nice reel for it thanks Cliff
  10. i looked at those online...what is their size comparison to a 5501? i definetly dont want anything bigger than that....maybe a 4601? i just cant make up my mind....they are all great Cliff
  11. yes i have heard it is a great reel...i am just afraid if i try one, i will HAVE to buy more!
  12. i also checked out a revo S the other day...man that thing is tiny! even for me and i do not have big hands.....but i really do like my C3's.....if it aint broke dont fix it, right? Cliff
  13. actually i am a righty...but i just cant handle a rod with my left arm/hand....so i use the rod in my dominate hand to get the best hooksets and actions with baits...i tried a casting reel many years ago(righty) couldnt get the hang of it...so i gave up on em till i found a lefty in gander one day(abu 5501) i love casting reels, but for me they MUST be lefty its ok tho, i came to my senses and decided to buy another abu garcia.....now i just have to decide if i want to stick to the round reels or try a LP thanks Cliff
  14. also, thanks for the info, but i am not familiar with any other shimano reels...so it didnt help much
  15. actually there IS a 101a...check it out http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-SHIMANO-CARDIFF-101-LH-BAITCASTING-REEL-NIB_W0QQitemZ330187423810QQihZ014QQcategoryZ108153QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  16. well i handled a cardiff 100a a few minutes ago.....my question is do they make a 101a...the lefthand one? i have found the 201a but not the 101a.....if not what is the size difference between the 100 and 201? i really like the small size of the reel...but it has to be a lefty for me to even consider it....and even more so in this case since it is a shimano ;D any help is much appreciated.....additionally, if you have any input...good or bad...on this reel thats good too! thanks Cliff
  17. is that in your backyard or something? pretty cool picture either way
  18. currently i have 3- Abu Garcia 5501 C3's 1-Cardinal c101 1-Cardinal 504 i have a new rod in the making and will be here soon...so naturally i need a new reel to go with it...i am looking at an Abu low profile of some sort....would like a revo S but after the cash for the rod i may have to go with one of the new Max series reels Cliff
  19. no joke...was a high of 92 yesterday...but a cold front moved in last night...was in the upper 40's this AM...supposed to drop into 30's tonight
  20. thats cool, i remember once...i must have been 7-8 years old...i found a ten dollar bill in my neighbors driveway by his car...i went to his door and gave it back to him...he gave me four quarters for my good deed....i bought baseball cards with it ;D it feels good to do the right thing Cliff
  21. i was wondering if anyone has actually used any of these "max" series reels yet? or knows where i can find an actual review of use with them....this link below has good info but i want to hear from some who have fished with them here is the tackle tour read on them http://www.tackletour.com/reviewabugarciapreview08.html thanks Cliff
  22. i plan to go this weekend...but i am not sure...it was only 92 today ;D
  23. now that i think about it, i havent lost any cranks this year, from hang ups anyway...i did lose a LC pointer...i was yakiin at my bud while tying it on...first cast....that sucker flew all the way across the tank and "never" laned...no water splash, no tree noises..it just...flew away...should have paid attention to the knot tying and not the BSing...oh well, one crank all summer aint bad i guess, especially since i threw them ALOT!
  24. for me my abu garcia 5501 C3's($75) have been great...and the berkley bionix($50) rods are very good for the money too, as well as the cherrywoods($20)
  25. i use a sony cybershot...i found it in a car when i worked at the rental car place...no one ever claimed it so i kept it(sweet deal too, its nice and it retails for $600) anyway, i also found this in a rental car....different car than the camera...i almost threw it away then realized what it was...it works great..the can of dip is just for size reference...the little legs are flexible and can be put in any position...i usually put it on the hood of my truck and just adjust the legs so it is level...plus it is compact and fits nicely in my box....plus it works great on my desk when downloading the pics on to my PC...my camera has an auto focus and timer setting, so i am always in focus when the picture is taken...here is a pic of the little tripod
