due to some computer virus and security issues...i had to change all my passwords...and on this site it wouldnt allow me to have the same login name and displayed name(even tho it allowed it before) so now my display name is just "red" same account and all just a different display name thanks Cliff

  9. thanks alot for all the replies...it really has helped me alot!! Cliff
  10. we are talking spinning reels here.....if a reel says it is rated for 115 yds of 6lbs test....is that just a rating to achieve the best performance? what if i wanted to put 8lb on it, would that effect the reels performance? i am no talking jumping from 6lb test to like 14...just a sleightly higher line than what it is rated for thanks Cliff
  11. i fish a small golf course tank...i have been chucking out a jig as far as i can straight out from shore.....there is alot of timber on the bottom(i think its wood)...i just drag the jigs really slow, stop and let it sit for a while...shake it, whatever....but i think the key for me has been slow...i guess it is about 8-12 feet at the extent of my casts...gradually sloping up to the shore...i read somewhere on here that a big profile jig worked slow in winter is good....i am using a 5/16 eakins jig with a baby paca craw trailer....best color so far is missouri craw(brown, black and a strand or two of chart) with a watermelon red trailer Cliff

    tough day...

yeah it sure looks good, you would think one could catch a ton of nice bass there...maybe i just suck ;D Cliff
  13. was really foggy today and it didnt burn off till after noon...but i held tough with my jig n craw and scored one dink and this one...it went 1-13lbs.....it was a 5/16 oz missouri craw eakins jig with a watermelon red baby paca craw trailer....was good to get out on the water again Cliff
  14. i have just one combo currently....i am a bank fisherman and i carry a custom 6' MH rod wth a revo S on it.....i just fixed one of my C3's and plan to buy a crankin rod for it. then my next combo will be a spinning set up...probebly M/X-fast. and that will be it untill i manage to get a boat...then i might decide to buy another...but just for your info...i use my current set up for everything and it works just as good for cranks as it does for jigs. but i would like to get away from having to retie so much. Cliff
  15. i dont throw alot of deep cranks...actually i dont even own a deep crank...but i like to throw shallow divers and lipless cranks alot....this would probebly also double for spinnerbaits...but i dont throw them much either. thanks for the info guys...i will let you know what i buy and how i like it Cliff
  16. did a little lookin around this evening...i think it is a toss up between the crankin stick(BPS) or this one http://www.americanrodsmiths.com/Products/DavidFrittsEGlassCrankbaitModels/tabid/106/Default.aspx what do ya think? this will be strictly for cranks thanks Cliff
  17. no the reel you sold me is perfect...actually its not anymore cuz i stole the parts from it to fix my other one ;D need to get another levelwind deal for it....thanks for the recommendations guys, i will let you know what i decide Cliff
  18. so i took my good C3 (older one) and i took my other C3(newer one but broke) and swaped parts so now my newer C3 works perfectly!! but i dont have a rod for it. i would like to get something decent for cranks. nothing longer than 6'6" i am looking for something in the $75-$100 range...any suggestions? thanks Cliff
  19. i dont really know...i believe i got some welsh in me or something..but guess i am just a good ol american white boy! good post!
  20. does anyone use light power rods for bass fishing? if so what line size do you use and for what kind of baits? for example, if you had a light power extra fast spinning rod, would it be suitable for say small to medium cranks, or topwaters? shakeyheads? weightless worms? i am researching for my next rod/reel combo, i currently have a MH casting outfit and would like to add a decent spinning rig to my line up and would prefer something "lighter". but i dont want to go too light. any info is much appreciated! ;D thanks Cliff
  21. well i went there today and asked...apparently you can golf there if you are general public and just pay the green fees...but the fishing is limited to members only...and to be a member you have to cough up $100 a month....so in short, i will only be fishing there when my member buddy is with me Cliff
  22. same for me, then i adjust the tension knob depending on what i am throwing
  23. i have been having luck with baby paca craws as jig trailers...on eakins 5/16 jigs....and i just today ordered some more eakins jigs in texas craw and some paca chunks to match..the local academy dosent carry a very good selection of colors in these jigs..and i gotta drive an hour to another academy to get the paca's, and their color choices bite too http://www.***.com/descpage-NBPCH.html http://www.***.com/descpageJIGSJEWEL-JBEJ.html those are the *** links...but you get the idea of what i a talking about
  24. i fish a golf course almost exclusively....my buddy is a member so i have to go with him...we just roll up, grab a cart and go...open or closed, they dont mind....i think tomorrow i am going to go thre and see what i need to do so i can fish there without him. like others said...just ask them....i will let you know what they tell me tomorrow Cliff
