i have an S-L i got around x-mas time. i recently took it to my reel guy to have it cleaned and lubed. he does a great job too, and is a big abu fan. anyway i was surprised to hear that the "pawl" (whatever that is) had to be replaced. $100 for a reel and it is needing parts replaced after 5-6 months? is this normal wear and tear?
also i have noticed in my last handful of outings, a brake likes to turn itself on every now and then. i normally run one brake on and the rest off, unless it is very windy then i run two on. but sometimes when i am running just one on, i will notice my casts arent going as far, i open the side plate, and another brake is on.
additionally on my last outing over the weekend and tonight, i have noticed a distinct "catch" in the retrieve. i can feel it catching and it gets a bit harder to turn for a half a crank or so then its back to normal, then a few more cranks and it catches again.
$100 for a reel is alot to me, so i am a bit disappointed with this reel as of late. i bought a used daiwa reel from a member on here in the flea market, for $50...it is a procaster-z 103HLA (japan model) if i could find more of these i would buy them in a second. it casts further than my revo, backlashes less and if i am not mistaken it is also lighter
i am going to take it back to the reel guy to see if possibly he made a mistake or something, but i highly doubt it, and if he did i know he will make it right. if not and it has another bad part or something, i will have him repair it and i will get rid of it and look for another non-abu reel.
has anyone else experienced any of these issues with their revo?
thanks
Cliff
P.S. please keep the "if it was a shimano it would be fine" comments to yourself ;D
