  1. i am a righty, i am basically retarded with my left hand, the only two things i can do half way good with my left hand is reel a reel and cut with a skil saw. so i use left handed baitcasters, that way my rod is controlled by my good hand and my stupid left hand only has to turn the handle. i first tried a baitcaster years ago in high school, it was a righty, i just couldnt get it, i gave up, never touched one again until i moved to minnesota and got a lefty C3...i wont buy a righty ever again. Cliff
  2. thanks for the info guys, maybe i got a lemon or something...anyway i will see what happens and keep you posted Cliff
  3. i have an S-L i got around x-mas time. i recently took it to my reel guy to have it cleaned and lubed. he does a great job too, and is a big abu fan. anyway i was surprised to hear that the "pawl" (whatever that is) had to be replaced. $100 for a reel and it is needing parts replaced after 5-6 months? is this normal wear and tear? also i have noticed in my last handful of outings, a brake likes to turn itself on every now and then. i normally run one brake on and the rest off, unless it is very windy then i run two on. but sometimes when i am running just one on, i will notice my casts arent going as far, i open the side plate, and another brake is on. additionally on my last outing over the weekend and tonight, i have noticed a distinct "catch" in the retrieve. i can feel it catching and it gets a bit harder to turn for a half a crank or so then its back to normal, then a few more cranks and it catches again. $100 for a reel is alot to me, so i am a bit disappointed with this reel as of late. i bought a used daiwa reel from a member on here in the flea market, for $50...it is a procaster-z 103HLA (japan model) if i could find more of these i would buy them in a second. it casts further than my revo, backlashes less and if i am not mistaken it is also lighter i am going to take it back to the reel guy to see if possibly he made a mistake or something, but i highly doubt it, and if he did i know he will make it right. if not and it has another bad part or something, i will have him repair it and i will get rid of it and look for another non-abu reel. has anyone else experienced any of these issues with their revo? thanks Cliff P.S. please keep the "if it was a shimano it would be fine" comments to yourself ;D
  4. thanks for the info guys, i have passed it on. i also did some researce of my own and passed it on as well. i am going to be able to check this pond out for myself in june. the good thing about it for this guy is money is not a problem for him, so he can basically do what ever is needed. thanks Cliff

  8. well i am trying to get some info for a friend of my fathers. he lives in upstate NY and recently had a 1 acre pond built on his property. it is 17 feet deep in the middle with a graduale slope up to shore. he has placed several different things in it for cover(brush piles, old tires etc etc.) anyway he is looking to stock it with bass. he currently has 1,000 minnows that are going to be added. he can purchase the bass in two different sizes, 2-3 inches and/or 4-6 inches. he is wondering which size would be better? also he was told that the max for a 1 acre tank is 100 bass. do you think he should go with less if he wants to have bigger fish? or will they have plenty of room on 1 acre with 100 bass? also, what other options does he have for bait fish? i am sure frogs will eventually find their way to the shoreline. will the minnows reproduce? should he add some blue gills/sunfish? can craws survive in such a small tank? any info you can provide would be much appreciated by myself, my pop and his friend!! thanks Cliff

    jigs

i have had great luck with the eakins jig with a paca chunk for a trailer.
  11. nice work. about how long do you spend on one of those? and how are you doing it, my guess would be on a lathe?? Cliff
  12. congrats!! good choice by the mods!! Cliff
  13. i cant stand the wind either. although it usually makes for better fishing, it makes casting difficult. and i fish from shore, so i cant always position myself to cast with the wind. i usually turn on another brake and make shorter casts if i have to cast into the wind.
  14. i would still be wasting my money on cheap gear and probebly catching alot less fish...thanks to glenn and the mods for keeping BRrunning smooth!! Cliff
  15. i like to throw jigs and topwaters the best i guess. yeah it does suck losing cranks, kinda like the lucky craft i lost this evening >
  16. i have had luck with the lake fork live magic shad when nothing else worked. rig it just like the package shows, on a weighted hook(with the weight on the hook shank) cast and reel it in nice and slow, with maybe some short pauses and stuff. choose a color that best matches the bait fish in your waters. i usually use the plain white or the silver with black cuz i have shad in my waters. hope this helps Cliff
  17. well i only have two rods, so this one is easy. my 6' MH custom from ronnie. i use it for everything, except now that i have another(6'6" Heavy for jigs and pitchin creatures etc etc) but as my rod collection grows i can see this 6' rod becoming my rod for throwing buzzbaits and spinnerbaits, in my opinion it excels with these baits, very accurate casting. New PB!!!

thats kinda funny you say that. you see it was still pretty dark and this fish did not hit my bait very hard, barely even broke the surface. and i didnt feel all its weight right away due to it swimming right at me. and on its first jump i didnt get a good look at it. the first thing i said was "its a small one" my buddy replied "its not that small" (he got a better look at it) then it jumped again and thats when i knew "this could be the one", and it was. man i love fishing!!! ;D Cliff
  19. spinnerbait was the ticket for me this morning, it was very windy with bright sun. i threw it along the shoreline as close as i could

    Tattoo

just remember, it is there forever. maybe work on drawing it yourself. i have two across the top of my back, shoulder to shoulder, and then the other(kinda part of the first one) goes under it and about halfway down my back. i drew them both. it is very satisfying and i know no one in the whole dang world has the exact same tattoo as me.

    New PB!!!

my buddy and i went out earlier than normal this morning. we decided to start off in a very small tank that we frequent often but rarely catch anything from. but we can see the bass swimming around, two in particular which looked to be very nice fish. but they wouldnt bite anything. well today i started off with a cavitron buzzbait, black on black. fourth or fifth cast i caught this little momma!! my new PB!!! but what was its weight you ask? well my scale first settled on 5-6 then i reset it and it then settled on 4-15. so i dont really know what to call it, what do you think? but i know for sure it was a PB. this fish was about 22 inches long. put up a great fight and jumped clear out of the water twice. it was awesome, and my custom from ronnie(alpster) handled it perfectly, as did my revo. was great fun and really made my day. i also caught another keeper sized fish and a few dinks. everything was on a spinnerbait except this one. belly shot thanks Cliff
  23. cool thanks guys, now i just have to wait for my rebate money, and also buy the stuff i need to build the rod for it!! thanks Cliff
  24. i have been having good luck with this exact lure recently, which was recommended to me by RW himself. also, i have been running this thing right through and over lilly pads, it rarely hangs up, pretty awesome bait!! Cliff
