  7. thank you robert, do you happen to have a link to their site? so basically i have to change handles in order to usee the cork knobs? Cliff
  8. i am sure everyone has seen the cork reel knobs you can get for daiwa reels http://www.***.com/descpageACCDAIWA-DICC.html i am wondering if there is something similar that would fit a revo? if anyone knows i sure would appreciate any info or links on the subject thanks Cliff
  9. i once told a guy trying to sell me a newspaper subscription that i couldnt read, i was very serious and he wouldnt believe me!! he thought it was rather funny that i couldnt read. then he started going on about how newspapers did not use difficult words and such and they were easy to read. i got a good laugh out of it. Cliff
  10. i could probably save up and buy some higher end stuff, but i just cant take the extra seconds to make sure it dosent get scratched or something. i treat my stuff like crap, i admit. but i bought it to fish with, not to look at. so as long it works i am happy. if i screw up and bust a rod tip, well that is just part of the game i guess. Cliff
  11. i have already checked in on all this, and we purchased our tickets before may whatever it was, so we get one free bag each. plus i am leaving this saturday morning at 6am, so it is kinda late to ship it. i am going to rely on my past airport experiences and just go with it. i have never had one single problem flying anywhere, no delays, no lost baggage, nothing. i trust that this tube will withstand whatever those handler guys can throw at it, my only fear i guess is if someone stole it outright. i am not worried about it at all. thanks Cliff

that is a job i would love to have!
  13. i started off last year with lower end stuff and i caught fish and had fun doing it. then i upgraded a little bit. i have never spent over $100 on a reel and not more than $125 on a rod. since last year i have either sold or given away my lower end stuff. now i have only two combos, both are custom rods and both have revo S-L's. i love these two setups!! now, since i have upgraded, have i caught more fish? absolutely not, in fact, so far this year i think my numbers are much less than last year, but my size is up from last year. but that has more to do with my knowledge increase than my gear. i enjoy my more expensive rods and reels, but it dosent make a difference to the fish. i think it was Catt who said..."the key to consistently catching bass is between your ears not between the folds of your wallet", or something to that effect. my old abu cardinal walmart special for $33 is still being used and catching bass (alot of the time more than me) by my buddy i gave it to. and he has it mounted on the $20 berkley cherrywood rod i also gave him. Cliff
  14. yeah i kinda like the handle on that cumara rod, i think if i ever get around to building another rod i would design my handle after that one.
  15. they are caught on my wifes step dads homemade slabs. that is the ONLY thing we use, for whites, hybrids and stripers. the only exception is night fishing (live shad) and when they are on top (anything you want, but usually a white grub burned just under the surface. Cliff
  16. there are a few out there still http://www.***.com/descpageRDCSHIMANO-SCMCR.html http://www.***.com/descpageRDCQUANTUM-QSCR.html http://www.***.com/descpageRDCDAIWA-DSZC.html those aint no $9.99 specials either!!
  17. making a trip to NY this weekend for the week. found out yesterday i will be able to fish with an old friend for some smallies. i decided to build my own travel tube for my rods. i got a 2" PVC pipe and i capped one end permanent. then i used a threaded cap on the other end so i can just screw the cap off. then i took an ordinary cabinet handle and bent it sleightly to match the contour of the pipe. i attached it with some simple zip ties, and it does not slide at all. i can fit two casting rods in it perfectly, i wrapped the two rods together, tip to handle and inserted them as one. once capped and after a good shaking, it seems they are very secure. i coult not hear the rods hitting the sides of the tube or anything. total cost was around 13 bucks, add another $5 for the bitchin custom flames and your all set for under $20!! my plan it to duck tape the threaded end at the airport after they do what they gotta do with it. FYI... for american airlines you WILL NOT be charged extra for anything under 115" and under 50lbs. here is a pic, dont laugh at the flames, i spent about an hour or so cutting and perfecting the duct tape to produce them!!! i work as a "press box assembler" or more commonly known as a carpenter. we build steel and wood press boxes for high schools and other small schools/organizations around the country. Cliff P.S. California has the most idiotic building codes i have ever heard of!!! no offense! ;D
  22. well we made another night fishing attempt. the wind pretty much decided that we werent going to fish the spot we wanted to. so we moved in close to a cliff wall and managed to draw some shad in. but no fish. we caught a bunch of shad and put them in the bait well. by this time the sun is about up so we head back to our original spot and managed to get a few hybrids in the boat, not to mention a ton of BIG whites, none of which were caught on the live shad we worked so hard to get. here is a pic of a couple i caught, they were twins!! both right on 19 inches. thanks for looking Cliff
  23. about 6:15 am on a black cavitron buzzbait...few weeks ago, 5 lbs
  24. I'll have to tell my Revo Ss to stop handling light baits well. They cast 1/4 baits as well as my SCs, SXs and STXs. They must not have known they weren't suposed to do that. i agree, i cast weightless trick worms and other light baits just fine with my S-L's
  25. my PB was caught on the 3/8 black on black
