  1. very nice, i like the cork design as well!
  2. we try to wait until it hits the dollar theater. the cokes and popcorn is still high, but not AS high, plus it only costs a buck for the ticket!!
  3. sorry to hear about your loss ronnie Cliff
  4. i think i will have to spring for one too. i have been wanting to try out some swim baits, what better time to start than right after the ICAST!!!
  5. i t-rig my live magic shads with a hook like that. you can do it like normal and just force the weight through the bait, or you can do it before you tie the hook on by just inserting the hook eye up through the nose of the bait, then tie your line on. Cliff
  6. These are all rough estimates. Spinner shark-120lbs, caught on a dead shad. (Galveston, TX) Muskie-13lbs, caught while reeling in a 10" walleye. (Duluth, MN) Pike-9lbs, caught on a white spinnerbait. (Greene, NY) SMB-4lbs, caught on a Yammasenko. (Duluth, MN) LMB-5lbs, caught on a cavitron buzzbait. (Waco, TX) White Bass-2lbs, caught on hommade slab. (Belton, TX) Hybrid Striped Bass-5lbs, caught on hommade slab. (Belton, TX) Walleye-4lbs, caught on the banjo minnow, thats right, i said BANJO MINNOW!! (Greene, NY) Lake Trout-4lbs, caught on a lazy ike. (Cayuga lake, NY)
  7. i have already checked into it. it is $23.96 per handle, that includes shipping. the thing is, i am going to be building a crankin rod soon. so i dont know if i will be getting another revo or if i will have to get something less expensive. maybe i could use the revo for crankin and go with a max series to replace it. we will see
  8. why a low gear ratio as opposed to a fast one? or the other way around. why does it seem that deep crankin MUST have a low ratio reel? also, is it genarally said that you want a slower, not so hard hookset, more of a "good pull", when using cranks? what do you think about using and opposite of normal crank reel for this, to intentionally slow down your hookset reaction? (like you normally crank with your right hand so you use a lefty for crankin) thanks Cliff
  9. thanks ghoti, i have considered this. i tend to fish a bit of kinda heavy stuff. its not visable but it is surely there under the water. i am leaning towards a 6'6" or 7' MH for this. i appreciate all the help guys!! i can always count on this place for quick and accurate info!! Cliff
  10. this is kinda hard since i am bank fishing, but i will tell you about my favorite spot the best i can from fishing it hard from the bank. to the left along the bank there is two big dead tree trunks in about 2-4 foot of water. the dead trees are probably about 15-20 feet from the shoreline. from those trees to shore it is shallow, like i said, maybe 2-4 feet. once you get to that second dead tree it drops to around 10-12 feet, then it stays around that all the way around to the right hand side shoreline. the bottom of the whole area is covered with "stuff"...rocks, wood, grass and just general crap. my best sized fish have come when i cast about 10-15 feet to the right of that second dead tree, and drag my jig/t-rig/crank/spinnerbait slowly up that drop off. i can usually score a dink if i throw between the dead trees and the shoreline or if i throw to the right hand side. but all my fish in this spot over 2lbs have come from dragging jig/worm up that drop off. this pic shows the two dead trees behind me my other favorite spot for summertime, bright sun, hot, muggy is another tank which has a concrete retaining wall running around it. walk along that wall and pitch a jig right on the wall and can usually nail one there. but below the surface along this wall is another wall, kinda forming a step. this step ends every so often, pitch to the very end of this underwater step is where the biggest fish in that tank have come from. one particular spot where the underwater step ends, i have pulled a 2+ lber out of that very same spot three trips in a row. that is the best i can do without a graph!! Cliff
  11. i dont know, i could totally see him sportin one of those sweet blue vests!!
  12. i love this store and i dont know why!! i just go there sometimes to wander around and look at crap. i used to buy everything there, but more recently some thing i get elsewhere. groceries we now mostly go to HEB, fishing stuff is online or academy. i do buy t-shirts there cuz they are cheap and i am going to wreck them at work anyway. and i buy work pants there too, dickies for 12 bucks!! but my normal jeans i buy anywhere else(usually kohls), as long as they are levis 501 button flys. some stuff for the kids we get there too, clothes and toys and stuff. Cliff
  13. addicting for sure, i built my first about a month or two ago and am already hitting flechero and alpster up for advice and questions for my next TWO!! have fun!! Cliff
  14. congrats man to you and the Mrs.!! i know you are excited!! Cliff
  15. looks like a MH/Fast or x-fast is preferred more out of the folks who replied, thanks and keep em comin guys!! Cliff
  16. what would be your ideal t-rig rod? i am not talking brand here, just power and action. also i am talking about t-rigging just your ordinary 7" worm or so. not big 10" worms or creatures and stuff. just a good rod for t-riggin worms. please specify length, power and action, and why?? thanks Cliff
  17. i have this problem too, i think my next try will be the falcon V4 speedbag with two of the 2" storage boxes, one of the jig boxes and one of the crankbait boxes. i think it will be what i am looking for, but who knows.
  18. there is a couple out of belton, but that is a bit more driving than i am willing to do. this club claims they are for "the working man" or "weekend angler" and that they are very laid back. its not that big of a deal, i am not dying to get into a club, just thought it might be something fun to try, i have never fished a tournament.
  19. yeah i was a bit surprised when i was told that. i always see them talking in another forum how they need more members, guess they dont need them too bad if they require you to find your own boater. oh well there is one guy(who i dont know) who is supposedly shopping for a boat and will be needing a partner once he buys, my name is in the hat for that one, so we will see i guess
  20. i am going to give it another run or two before i strip it off. after all i did pay $13 for the stuff
  21. thanks man!! its not lookin good actually, because i know NO ONE with a boat who would be interested in tourny/club fishing. oh well.
  22. i didnt really have any problems with it, i just dont like it in general
  23. thanks. i would love to tell you how the hook setting went, but i never had the chance!! skunked!! but i can tell you i dont think i will like the power pro, i think i will end up going back to trilene XT but with a heavier test. i may give it one more shot. thanks for the info guys. Cliff
  24. i tried the zero setting on a revo s... backlashed out probably at least 50 yds of line i did this too on my revo S-L. i just cnat get it dialed in on zero brakes. on my old 5501's i could do it just fine. i with either one or two brakes now on my revo
  25. thanks guys, i guess i will have to ease up on my hookset and back my drag off, cuz i aint gettin another rod!! this is one i made just for jiggin, it is a 6'6" allstar785(?) hvy, and it is a VERY stout rod, flechero knows, after all he sold me the blank. i am headed out in about an hour so i will post back and let you know how it went, assuming i catch something. thanks again Cliff
