  1. i use the sammy and spook jr. i have caught tons of fish on the spook, not even one on the sammy. speaking of that, i might try to get rid of it in the flea market. Cliff
  2. here is mine...5lbs. i think i caught this fish twice. it was in a very very small tank, i am 99% sure it is the same fish. 1st time on a cavitron buzzbait 2nd time on a LC RC purple perch crank and i caught this pike while home to NY visiting, it was on a white spinnerbait.
  3. well fine!! j/k...stay safe over there, good luck, when you get back, hit me up if you need a partner for the day!! Cliff
  4. well if you ever do come to waco, let me know, i would be glad to fill your gas tank, and your back seat!! ;D Cliff
  5. i always heard they were no good for eatin cuz they are always full of worms??
  6. it was actually in a golf course tank. but it is part of lake waco, kinda an over flow deal or something. i did go to lake waco afterwards but had to leave early cuz the dog got out!! anyway, i have been catching a few, but they are all small, keepers are few and far between. never fished stillhouse before, but i hear it is good stuff!! i am hoping to get a small boat for next year, that overflow tank just has to have some good fish in it, i know it, but there is only shore access in a couple spots. thanks Cliff P.S. you a soldier at ft. hood?
  7. first time throwing a new strike king sexy shad crank, not sure of the series number, i think series 4, the one that goes to 8'. anyway this was the only fish i caught today, it was long and skinny, maybe went 2 lbs. my buddy caught 5 on a shallow running H2O crank, but they were all super dinks. fishing hasnt been to good lately, and i just cant seem to figure them out. thanks Cliff

  9. i dont know about now, but when i joined, the army was the only branch that guaranteed your job. so if you signed up to be a cook, you WILL be a cook. things may have changed since then though.
  10. i am sure you did tell me all that!! not the teachers fault, it was the student not paying enough attention. i do remember now about the 2x4 block, but i didnt know about putting the butt against something solid, thats a good idea!! thanks for the tips, keep em comin!! Cliff
  11. yeah i have no clue, the guy i go with knows the lake very very well. he has been fishing it since he was just a kid. its too bad he didnt get into LMB fishing like his father, but he always puts me on whites and hybrids.
  12. we plan to take them to belton this spring to get into some whites. i know they will love that. the mohawk was lookin kinda raggedy, so i just evened it so he can let it grow a bit for the winter. he isnt as much of a monster as "frankenstein" but he can get pretty close at times!!
  13. took my nephew out the other day, i only caught two dinks, and he got this one! he caught it on a weightless trick worm, watermelon red. this kid loves fishing! i think he would rather go fishing with me than leave with his mom or dad on their visit weekends!! sure does make me feel good. thanks Cliff
  14. i have had great luck in ponds with a lake fork live magic shad, rigged on a weighted wide gap hook. of course i dont know if these are available outside of texas.
  15. nice one muddy!! i once had a guy try to sell me a newspaper. even after i explained to him, very seriously, that i couldnt read, he told me it was "easy to read" and that "i could do it" Cliff
  16. that would be sweet!! i would totally be interested in something like that. my wifes step dad has a boat, but he HATES LMB fishing, we always target whites and hybrids. so for me, getting a chance to fish LMB from a boat, and on good LMB water, is rare. i will be in touch, thanks!!
  17. this is just a general question for any rod builders out there. i am just beginning rod building, thanks to flecero for the assist there. i am wondering how you all apply your finish? mainly how do you get a nice straight line around the edge? i know this is probably mostly just practice practice practice. i am just wondering if anyone has any tips for me. or special tools that work good, i think keith said he uses some sort of dental tool. do you use some sort of "rest" for your hand to help steady it? i have used a brush and the last time i used a small flat tip screwdriver, that worked better than the brush. anyway, any tips you can offer would be much appreciated! ;D thanks Cliff
  18. good lookin stuff!!
  19. carpenter. i work for a company that builds stadium seating for high schools. i work in the press box dept. i also weld on occasion when we are doing a metal box, but most are wooden. Cliff
  20. i have no idea, that lake confuses me. we launched at arrowhead and the fish were caught near the big water tower deal. like if you were standing on the water tower looking out at the lake, we were about a half mile down on the left. there is another launch nearby, rogers point i think. my step dad calls the area right across from the water tower, on the big "bend" in the shoreline, he calls that "B-Rock". the year before last we were there cuz we saw a bunch of boats in that area, we pulled up and couldnt keep the hybrids off our line!! it was crazy, and every other boat was catching them too, and they were big! anyway i have no idea if that is north or not. Cliff
  21. thanks. i dont have a boat and that is a bit too far to drive for just some lowly bank fishin!!
  22. went out this past sunday with my wifes step dad and his buddy. we caught a bunch of whites and a few small hybrids to start. then we moved to another spot and came across a school of big hybrids that were much shallower than normal, they were in about 27' of water. i caught two that were 21" and 22", step dad caught none, and his buddy caught the four biggest ones, three at 24" and one at 23", and they were fat too! was a great time, these fish fight like champs!! all fish were caught on my step dads home made "slabs", and all fish were released after the photo session! here is a handful of them... and "el paso" with the biggest one of the bunch thanks Cliff
