  1. Curse my lack of a scale! I am not going to attempt a weight guess on this but it is by far my PB. I do however know the length, it was 25 inches and she was fat. Got her on a Rage Craw in Green Pumpkin pitchin heavy, shallow timber. I also caught 5 other fish and had three more big females bite but not hang on. The fishing is really great right now, can't weight to get back out there! So what is your weight guess? Here is a pic, crappy cell phone pic, but a pic either way. Thanks for lookin! Cliff
  2. Amazing! This place rocks! If it wasn't for BR I would still be using a Power worm curled up on a tiny hook under a bobber....waiting. ;D Thanks! Cliff
  3. What the he#@ is an "ipad? ;D
  4. I don't think I have ever caught five keeper bass in one outing. Maybe four one time. After this years start I am happy catching dinks right now. Hopefully it will pick up soon. Even though I am not catching alot right now I feel I am getting the hang of this local lake. I did well last summer and fall, just having a hard time getting started this spring. Cliff
  5. Very very very very close!! I mean right up in that junk, just like they were last summer. The bigger of the two, was literally under the boat too. A guy told me there was a good one by this one log, he had hooked it but couldn't get it to bite again. Than another guy pulled in and tried his luck at that fish. I stuck around and after he left I moved in and caught it on first try. I dropped my Power worm right down alongside the boat and this log, wack! I think the tournament guy was mad! If you come out of this creek there is about a hundred acre bay area that is totally lined with heavy flooded timber. Last year the fish stayed up in that shallow thick stuuf, even when it was 100 plus degrees!!! Makes for some easy fishin really. Cliff
  6. Went out this morning and went straight to a creek that runs in on the north end of the lake. No takers on spinnerbaits. Started pitchin a watermelon Yo Moma and got one, then I got another good one on a blue fleck Power Worm a while later. My buddy didn't get any. Not a great day but considering I was workin on a 2month long skunk I was happy. But the best part was having three different tournament angles (south forty shootout) stop and ask my advice, baits, color everything. Was a nice morning on the lake, gonne try it again tomorrow. Sorry for the bad cell phone pics, two guys in an 8' buster so my buddy was right on top of me. These fish were short but they were fat and healthy. Thanks for lookin!! Cliff
  7. I have an 8' Bass Raider with 30lb MK. I love this thing. I use the deck straps like one person posted, they work great. I also cut a 3/4 inch piece of plywood to fit the floor so it is not so "spongy". This seriously increases the ease of standing up and fishing. I also made an extension handle for the motor so I don't have to bend down to steer. This with a Big Foot floor switch and my fishing day is great. The one thing about this set up is that the wind is your evil enemy!! The boat can handle fairly rough water, but keeping it in place to fish in high winds is a lost cause. It is a bit crowded with two people but it is doable, I am going in the morning with a buddy actually, but 95% of the time I am alone. Other than this I love it. I named mine "The Bass Tub" with some help from BR members. Cliff P.S. I have the largest marine battery Walmart carries and I can run the motor and depth finder all day and hardly put a dent in the battery.
  8. Flippin/pitchin I use no brakes and adjust spoool depending on bait weight. Everything else is one brake except when I am casting into heavy wind then I use two.
  9. I see them often in the summer, never any real big ones except one day last year. I go to this little spot where I can drag my boat a short distance from the main lake onto one of the golf course tanks. This one time I step out of my boat into the water and I see this freakin anaconda sized WM coming my way!!! I swear it was 7' long and 3 inches thick! I got back in the boat with a quickness and got the rock outta there!! Haven't been back yet!! That thing was scary, and I don't normally mind snakes. Cliff
  10. My folks figured some day when they are gone that us kids wouldn't want to sort through a ton of pictures and decide who gets what. So they made up an album for each of us organized by decades in our lives. I love to look though it, it is great. Think I might go get it out right now!! Cliff
  11. Hey thnks man, they look great!
  12. I would just take the spinning reel spool off and feed the line onto your baitcaster, set the spinning spool on the floor or wherever and crank it onto the baitcaster like you would if the line was on the regular line spool. Cliff
  13. Thanks y'all. I told him to hold it towards the camera to make it look bigger, the third and fourth pics are the same fish, looks like it worked!
  14. Nice fish!! Your photos are amazing, my wifes step dad is big into cameras and stuff, he has a nice one, really expensive, but your pictures are ten times better than his! Cliff
  15. I have used an electric hammer drill with a chisel bit. It worked great to chiseal away part of a cement foundation. Cliff
  16. Thanks, however I am his uncle, but I might as well be his dad. My wife and I have had permanant custody for almost two years now and they have lived with us for almost three years. Their "real dad" is a total and complete waste of perfectly good oxygen, same with their mother. We are in the process of seeking permanant custody with NO visitation which will hopefully lead to adoption. Thats another thread though, this was a fun trip, he had a blast! And I did as well!! ;D
  17. Too windy for the little boat today, so went to some private stock tanks. After about and hour and a half of no bites, he finally got a couple, and caught both! He made the cast, set the hook, and reeled em in! Both were caught on a Zoom Trick worm rigged weightless. He was rollin in style too, with my Abu 801 and American Rodsmiths combo. He did great, guess it his brothers turn tomorrow. first fish second fish Thanks for looking!! Cliff
  18. I am from NY originally, now I live in Texas. Down here any bluegill type fish is a "perch", white bass are "whites", and LMB are "blacks". Where I grew we called them sunfish, bluegill, or bass, either smallie or largemouth. When I get bit while wormin' etc, I usually say "there he is". when my buddy is getting bit I usually tell him to "bust his ***!"
  19. Same for me, if its a really nasty stall I will move on. I look at it like this, every turd I drop in another toilet cuts back on my water and TP bill!!! Cliff
  20. That is pretty freakin cool!! Excellent work.
  21. I go with Chart/White pretty much always. Last year a buddy was telling me how his gold shiner colored bait caught more numbers but the chart/white caught bigger fish. We went out and he caught a bunch of fish around 2lbs but I caught only one, 6lber, he was right! I do have luck with the gold shiner color as well, and white, white/blue.
  22. One of mine was to beat my PB of 6lbs, I did that in January with a 7lber, so that one is done. I would like to go out and catch five keeper size fish each trip. Also I am looking to focus more on jig fishing this season, mainly flippin and pitchin it to heavy cover. Another goal, and probably the most important, is to get my nephews on the water more, get them more involved and catching some bass. There isn't any problem getting them to go, but I am nervous with them on the boat while the water is still cold, soon as it warms up they will most likely be with me alot. Thanks Cliff
  23. All left for me. I gave the right handed reels an honest effort, just can't get it, my left hand or arm dosen't work as well I guess, and I like having my dominant hand on the rod. Cliff
  24. I was a smoker at first, for about ten years. Then I started dipping while I was fishing and smoking any other time. Then I was smoking and dipping at the same time, all the time!! I decided I needed to choose one or the other. I chose to dip. Been smoke free for several years now!! ;D Cliff
  25. Well first off thanks for all the info. Second I went to Academy yesterday and they had a 7'6" American Rodsmiths Flippin Stick in there. So I grabbed it up and checked it out. My opinion is, I will stick to my 6'6" HVY Allstar for now!! That thing is freakin huge!! I wouldn't use it just because of the size, not to mention it is d**n near longer than my boat!. I swear the butt of the Blank was an inch thick! The rod I am using is built on an Allstar 785, which is a pretty stought(sp?) stick, and I mostly pitch and my accuracy seems fine to me. I guess until I start having issues landing fish I won't worry about it. However I appreciate all the great info and science lessons from y'all!! Very informative! Thanks ;D Cliff
