  1. Wow how tall are you? I wear a 30 length.
  2. My biggest bass have come on jig n craw or just the craw alone.
  3. I used to use the EWG exclusively. Now the only ones I buy are the g-lock, set lock, or super lock, I guess depending on the brand. I use them on all my soft plastics. I like them and haven't had any issues. I almost never lose a fish once I set the hook using soft plastics.
  4. d**n I wish my company would buy them for us! I am pobably going to end up forkin out $150 for my next pair, its worth it though.
  5. I have only used the RT Craw. It is responsible for my PB, in the avatar pic to the left. I used that whole pack up and caught alot of fish on them. Then I bought Pacas instead only because of the price. I caught alot of fish on them as well. I bought another pack of RT Craws last night and caught a nice bass today(see outing section). I think the RT craws, for me, catch bigger fish than the Pacas. I may try some other RT products in the future, the main thing holding me back is the price. FYI I haven't caught a bass on a senko type bait in at least two years! And yes I use them! ;D
  6. WOW! You must have the same scale as me, cuz I would have guessed 6lbs easy! Nice fish either way, I sure do miss catching those smallies!
  7. Caught a bunch this morning, all on either a fluke or a jig. This was the best one, about 4lbs. Caught on a jig I made with a Rage Tail Craw trailer. Something about those Rage Craws, I usually go for the Pacas only because they are cheaper, I went last night and broke down for one pack of Rage Craws, fish seem to like them better! The jig I made was a light green with a few strands of purple and the craw was watermelon w/ red flake.
  8. I have only used PP. I use 50# on my casting rigs and the 20# on my spinning rod. I was looking at the Sufix today to maybe try to save a buck or two, wrong! It was $5 more for the exact same test and amount as the PP. If I had went to Walmart rather than Academy the PP would have been $2 less than that. It works great on both my caster and spinner, I have no reason to switch. Also I still use good ol Trilene XT on my crankin rod, works great, no reason to look for another. Cliff
  9. Last time I used one was In early April on my PB 9lber. I usually don't bring it with me, I always just forget to. Remembered that day. Leaning over in my buster boat isn't an easy task, especially now since I added a seat riser.. I usually just swing everything in if I think my rod can handle it. I swung a 4lber no problem last weekend. I will say I haven't forgotten the net once since I caught my PB, I wasn't swingin that baby in!
  10. Wha-coo? :-? Different Strokes is the first TV program I can remember watching. d**n that was a long time ago. Yeah same for me, that and ALF!!
  11. I haven't tried it yet. I dip Grizzly Natural Fine Cut. I quit smoking and started dippin about 8 years ago. Recently I have been giving quitting some serious thought. I am starting to get alot of mouth and throat pain. Just gotta make the commitment to do it.
  12. it would be nice if I could fit in a size 34. ;D I like to order my work boots online. I have been wearing the same exact brand and model for like 8 years now, two seperate pair. But now they don't make that model anymore. So my next pair will be the same brand but different model, it will be interesting to see if they fit when I order the same size but different model. They are Georgia boots in case your interested. They are broke in out of the box and take a serious beating. I do alot of welding, grinding, cutting, and other shop work, they last, simple as that.
  13. Thanks. I guess the sunfish down here in the south inherited a "bass mouth" or something. Up north where I am from a sunfish that size you could barely get your thumb in its mouth! Either way it was fun. And he has been sure all day long to let EVERYONE know that I didn't catch any fish!
  14. wasn't very good! He turned eight today so I took him this morning out in the boat. He was the only one to catch a fish, and it wasn't even a bass!! I set him up with a weightless fluke on my spinning rig. We were fishing a chunk rock shoreline. He threw it up near the rocks and after one or two twitches he had this little baby on. Honestly I don't know what it is! It looks to me like and ordinary sunfish, however rather fat and with a mouth like a bass. The fishing wasn't good, but we had a major breakthrough!!! He made his first casts with a baitcasting reel. He used my Revo on a custom MH rod with a Spro Bronze eye frog. Only one birdsnest!!! I let him make about 20-30 casts and he was getting distance about half of what I get on an average cast. The one birdsnest he did get was a freakin doozy!! Took me about 10 minutes to pick it out. Anyway after that went and got the wife and his brother and went back to the lake and swam for a while then off to Pizza Hut for supper. With all his stuff he got and all this, I say he had a good birthday. Thanks for lookin! Cliff
  15. I have spent about $35. I got some PP 50#, H2O Hooks (4/0 Super Lock), two packs of Lake Fork 1/8 tungston weights, and one pack of Rage Craws in Watermelon w/ Red Flake. Gonna head out tomorrow morning and see if I can't land a few.
  16. I just had a deal pop up saying the BassResource.com was unsafe and being reported to MS. I went to homepage then back and now I am typing this message. Could this be on my end?
  17. Topwater early and late with a Cavitron or Spro Bronzeye. Then it will be flippin heavy timber in shallow water (less than 5 feet) with a Paca Craw and/or Jig. Spinnerbaits, Trick Worms, and Flukes will be in the mix when the others aren't producing. If all this fails I may try cranking some chunk rock in deeper water or flippin the deeper docks in the marinas. On this lake though, even in the heat of the summer, they are usually in the heavy timber, very shallow, even the big girls. One other thing I may get into trying this year is throwing some hard swimbaits.

    Crank Makers...

Cool guys, thanks for the answers. 2-5 hours, I would have guessed much longer. But I guess as many as you have done your probably alot faster than if someone like myself, who has never done it. Nobody has one in like Spain or Sweeden or some far off place being used? Thanks Cliff
  19. I love coming here and looking at all the nice custom jobs by Big M, fishwhittler and all the others. Seems pretty regular that you put out a few new baits. I am curious, how many baits do you make in a months time? A year? Is it a profitable hobby for you or do you only make baits for yourself? From start to finish how long does it take you to make the average bait? If you do sell your baits or give them to friends, what is the farthest away from where you live that one of your baits is being used? Just curious!! Thanks Cliff
  20. Fishing too fast! I am getting better at this. When I pitch my craw I just let it sit for a few. Thats when the bites usually come, or on the first hop following.

    Carp

While out on the lake today I came across a small school of GIANT carp. It was crazy, these things were almost as long as my 8' buster! I swear the scales were bigger than a quarter. I guessed the biggest one I saw to be at least 70lbs!! I couldn't believe what I was seeing, I have never seen a freshwater fish that size. What kind of carp would these be? I see in Texas they have several different kinds. I think the bigger ones would definetly be a lake, possibly state record. So how does one go about catching a giant carp? I always heard corn works well, but never tried it. Any help would be much appreciated!! Cliff
  22. My folks are working on 44 years. My wife and I celebrate our 9th one week from today. Seems our rough patch was alot earlier than y'alls, like the FIRST year. But we made it, wouldn't trade it for nothing. We don't have any kids of our own but we have custody(almost three years now, adoption plans are in the works) of her idiot brothers two boys, wouldn't trade them either. Like another member said, make her a proper wife and mother and marry that girl!! Good Luck! Cliff
  23. Catt for the knowledge I would gain Fourbizz cuz of his awesome "yoda" and "smashmortion" comments. ;D
  24. Hey y'all I am trying to help organize a "small craft" tournament around here. I have never fished any tournament. It will be 14ft or smaller, no gas motors. Probably a three bass limit. I was wondering if anyone could give me some ideas/tips on a rules list and such. It probably isn't going to be anything fancy, just a group of little boats having a nice tournament on some local lakes. I just wanted to make sure it is all run fairly and easily. Thanks in advance for any help. Cliff
  25. Another thing, the weight. How much do you think a cooler full of water and bass would weigh? My capacity on the boat is 500lbs. With me and my gear I am probably at around 300lbs or so.
