  1. Yeah and maybe some different running depth cranks. Don't forget spinnerbaits too, can't go wrong with a 3/8oz chart/white. Camera or cell phone too if ya wanna show off!! Cliff
  2. Now I think I could make those work! I am assuming the price is for two of them?
  3. I really enjoy using my Lamiglas Excel 703C/Revo S-L the most, but this time of year it has to be my flippin stick. Lamiglas Excel 7116C/Daiwa Viento/50lb PP.
  4. I am the same height as you and I use a 7'11" rod with no problems, it does take a bit of getting used to, but after a while it isn't a problem. I use the Lamiglas Excel 7116C.
  5. Flippin and pitchin into the shallow timber is ALWAYS my favorite. Throwing a blade or squarebill to the same cover is a close second.
  6. I have four of the Excel rods. They are great in my opinion. Best part....Made in the USA!!! Cliff
  7. I have been using this rig alot recently. It also works fantastic with a Grande Bass Rattlesnake!!
  8. I do and I did!!
  9. Yeah I have seen the milk crate idea. My problem is that I get right up in the trash alot and can't really have rods sticking up high and stuff. What I should have said is horizontal rod storage. LOL, like I really need eight rods in the boat. I just hate leaving them on the rack! Cliff
  10. That was great man. Your mom is a trip!! Looked like a great outing! Cliff
  11. My Raider 8 only has two handles, one on each side, one front one back. It also has molded in the plastic "handles" on each end. Anyone got any good rod storage ideas? I would love to bring all 8 of my rigs when I go, but just can't carry them. I can bring four comfortably, five is pushin it.
  12. I wear prescription glasses. I am also know to lose/break sunglasses pretty regular, therefore I use the $20 polarized "fits over" from Walmart. Couldn't handle it if I dumped a pair of $100 shades in the lake! Cliff
  13. Took the boys out this afternoon to my buddies ponds. The water levels are the lowest I have ever seen but the bass were still hungry. Rigged them both up with weightless senkos and let them have at it. It didn't take long and Taylor was screaming my name! He had one that was easily 5lbs but it broke his 4lb test ( I need to get another decent spinning rig for him instead of my crappie rod!) as I tried to lip it. We ended up with Taylor catching 2, Bishop with 4 and I had 5. They caught all the fish on their own, cast, fight, and lip. I only removed hooks and took pics. They did a fine job and I was proud! Bishop Taylor (he didn't catch as many as his brother, but he poses better for the camera!! And here is one I caught this morning out on the lake. PB&&J Eakins jig with Paca Chunk. Thanks for lookin! Cliff
  14. 17 for me, all dinks. I have only caught 5 keepers in a single outing once.
  15. My buddies Uncle has a couple very small ponds on his property that I have access to. I take my boys out there so they can catch a few, much easier than taking them in my tiny boat. I haven't been in a while but I fear they are very near dried up, I hope it does not hurt the fish too much, hope they can make it through this drought. Cliff
  16. I would add a couple good spinnerbaits and buzzbaits to your collection. Maybe some smaller sized paddle tail swimbaits. You said you like wacky riggin, try a zoom trick worm instead of a senko sometime. I think your bait choices are pretty good, before you know it you will have more crap than you could ever use, trust me I know from experience!!! Cliff
  17. You could use your spinning rig for your senkos and other light plastics. The two baitcasters could be maybe a 7' MH and a 7' M. The MH could be used for your texas rigged worms, brush hogs, jigs etc. Use the Medium rod for all your treble hook lures...cranks, poppers etc. Your spinning rig could also be used for smaller treble baits like the popper that may be a bit harder to cast with a baitcaster. You might also search the articles section of this sight, I do believe there is some good stuff related to beginners. Good luck! Cliff
  18. Thanks for all the great info guys. I have read a recent report on my home lake that the jig bite has been good, so I am gonna tie one on and see what happens!! Cliff
  19. Been over 100 degrees for many days now, maybe weeks I am not sure. No rain in sight. Lake levels are suffering terribly. I heard its the worst drought conditions in 50 years. One lake nearby I heard will not be accessible in another week or so, only boats on there will be those who have a slip at the marina. All Ramps unusable. Not allowed to wash cars, water grass etc etc. We NEED rain!!
  20. And I bet you also know what fliipin stick I am gonna buy!!
  21. Very nice job!! I have considered adding a pedestal seat like you did. I am pretty happy with my rig as it is though so I haven't put much thought into it. I got caught in a storm once like you did. I had enough water in the boat I had to empty it and flip it. I couldn't lift it onto the truck....too heavy!
  22. Red

    Spinnerbaits

I like the Terminators as well. I have been using War Eagle recently and I like them as well. The Stanley bait is pretty good too. Can't go wrong with any of these.
  23. I had this happen this past weekend. Using a popper on a ML rod with braid. Fish was around 3lbs. Luckily the stick it wrapped me around was close to the surface, I just broke the limb like you said. Other times there isn't a whole lot you can do. Maybe give the fish slack, hope it frees itself and hope your hook sticks. Cliff
  24. That solves it!! I need another flippin stick!! Thanks!
  25. I do alot of close quarter fishing in heavy timber, shallow, less than 8 feet most of the time.. Stumps, fallen trees, brush etc etc. I am wondering how you decide what bait to use? Mainly, why would you flip a Rage Craw over a jig or vise versa? Also, I am considering that it is 100+ temps right now and if that would make you choose one over the other. Maybe the bait dosen't matter so much and it is more on how you present the bait after it hits the bottom? Any info on this is much appreciated. Thanks Cliff
