  1. Wow! That pic is worse than I thought!! Only have my phone and it was still dark as you can see.
  2. I got on the lake early this morning, about 6:10am, it was still dark. Started with a black Cavitron, had three keepers in the first 20 minutes. In the next 40 minutes I got 2 more keepers. Buzzbait bite died so I grabbed the flippin stick and went to work with a PB&J Eakins Jig with a Paca Chunk trailer. Ended the day about 9:30am with 10 total, eight being keepers. Anyway it was a nice morning for fishin and I had a blast. Here is a (crappy) pic of the biggest one of the day. By the way, every single bass was caught in less than three feet of water!! Thanks for lookin Cliff

  4. I was just reading over this thread again. I know what a thermocline is and understand that the fish generally want to stay right above it( I think?) Catt, are you saying that the temps are making the thermocline non existent? In return giving the fish "no place go"? And just a little side note, every fish I am catching in recent weeks is coming from a flip or pitch that lands very very close to cover (stick, stump, laydown etc) or a squarebill crashing into the same cover, and all in less than 5 feet of water. Thanks Cliff
  5. Not really sure, I don't know where I cound find that info. If I had to guess I would say between 7-10 feet low. A friend told me it is almost to the old level, I believe they raised it 9 feet permanently a few years back. Like I said, the fishing has been good for me in the shallows and apparently most everyone else too. I was just curious why they aren't deep like other lakes in the state. I read daily it seems about people on Fork catching them deep. Honestly, I hope they stay in the shallows every year!! Makes it a whole lot easier for me.
  6. good stuff guys, really appreciate it.sam all i do is fish the wood. i am having better luck this summer especially with the size of the fish i am catching. i read about others in the state and country fishing deep and was curious why noone locally seems to be fishing deep. its better for me actually cuz i cant really fish offshore structure in my 8' bass raider, as much as i would like to learn.cliff
  7. Is there something about a lake that will keep fish shallow during the summer/heat/bright sunny days? I fish shallow almost exclusively, 95% of the time less than 5 feet of water. I have caught more bigger fish this year then ever before. Seems all the tournaments on this lake are being won in the same water, and big sacks too. I have fished deep a few times this year when with a friend on his boat, not a single bite. These are known spots (for him) that have produced in past years. As soon as we move shallow we start catching. All the locals say fish the timber in 2-3 feet of water, or stay shallow nothing being caught deep. I almost never see a bass boat that isn't fishing shallow. I am just curious if there is some aspect of a lake like oxygen levels or something that would keep these fish shallow. Or maybe why DO fish go deep is a better question, maybe this lake is lacking whatever makes a bass want to travel deeper. I know there are some fish deep and some stay shallow, but it seems that if you want to catch them good or get in the money you need to beat the banks. FYI, there is flooded timber all along the shoreline on this lake and very little vegetation in my experience. Use Google Earth and check out Lake Waco in Texas if you want to see for yourself. Thanks Cliff
  8. Agreed. On our little league team this one mom came in the dugout in the middle of the game and basically kicked the crap out of her kid!! Right in front of everyone. I couldn't believe it. The kid deserved some sort of punishment, he is a PITA, and a bully but man that was way over the top. Rumor has it that she has had CPS called on her more than once and she just dosen't care, almost like she wants them to take away her kid.
  9. LOL...I think we might have it handled now. We just had a family meeting(brother came home early) His brother didn't do it. He fessed up said he did do it everytime, apologized to his brother and us. He said, rather sincerely actually, that he is done with this whole thing. I guess he dosen't think it is fun anymore now that everyone else in the house checks his "spots" whenever they go to the bathroom. Now it is just a matter of time to see if he actually follows through. I told him his punishment will contine to be that same if he does do it again. I think being consistent is what it will take, like some mentioned here. Anyway, I really appreciate all the help! Cliff
  10. I think I have posted this on here beofre but I will do it again. A few years back before I had my boat, I was fishing off the courtesy dock (game warden told me it was ok as long as I got out of the way of boaters using the dock) at the lake. Here comes a beautiful bass boat, looked brand new to me. There was a dude with his much younger girlfriend/wife, she was driving. She drove this thing right across the ramp, dragging the bottom of the boat and prop right over the concrete, and going much too fast approaching the dock. I was off to the back side of the dock, out of the way, I had my line out parralel to the bank, only about 5-10 feet from shore. She slams into the dock, he jumps out, she backs up. He forgot truck keys so she slams the dock again and tosses the keys. She "peels out" very close to shore and snags my line with the prop, that fight didn't last long and I lost. He apologized and offered to replace my tackle. Was just a t-rig so no big deal. Took them forever to load onto the trailer. Same time, same place, the very next day. She did it all over again minus the snagging of my line, I got it out of the water this time. All of this and neither of them seemed to care that she was trashing this beautiful boat. You wouldn't believe the sounds that boat made coming across that concrete ramp!! Cliff
  11. I replied to Grundle's PM, all is cool there I believe. As for the issue with the kiddo. We now have suspicion that his brother is hiding the stuff and letting him take the fall!!! We have some investigating to do when his brother returns from hid dads on Wednesday. I will keep you posted. Cliff

  13. I have a Bass Raider and ever since I got it I rarely lose a bait. I can get in pretty tight spots so I just go get them. Actually, I FOUND about $60 worth of baits in a small cove a couple weeks back.
  14. I too have trouble with walking a frog, I can really only "chug" it. I will keep practicing though.
  15. We have. My wife and I together, each of us one on one with him. We have tried and tried all kinds of different ways to get him to tell us, can't get anything from him.
  16. Sorry for the poor grammer in my last couple posts, was rusing it on my phone at work during break. As for asking him the problem, we have done that and have really only got two different answers. "Don't know" or "its fun" We are going to try the ignoring thing next. Also I did not consider that he was seeking attention from his brother, that actually makes alot of sense, will check that out as well. I really do appreciate the info and ideas from everyone. I do have one question for grundle. I noticed that your rather young still and was wondering if you had any kids of your own? Just curious. Either way, I would appreciate it if you kept your useless comments out of my thread, this one AND the one regarding the email question I started. Thanks Cliff P.S. I will chek back here often and let you know of any progress.

  18. just to clear the air....i do not spank him everytime he does this. it is just one of the things we have tried to solve the problem. it didnt work so i dont do it anymore. nothing has worked which is why i asked here. i will try the ignoring thing immediatly. that might get it.
  19. thanks for all the info guys, i do appreciate it. grundel.....thanks for the comment, it was very helpful in my solving of this issue
  20. if I were to want to change the email I use for BR what would I have to do? Make a new account? Or just edit what I have now? Thanks Cliff
  21. I understand he is a kid, but I find it hard to believe that a kid will continue to repeat an act, knowing the consequences are negative. He hasn't done this only a handful of times, I am talking every night for a couple of months now. You have no idea how many toothbrushes I have bought, the doller store folks probably think I am crazy or something!!
  22. Hey everyone, as some of you may know, my wife and I have full permanent custody of her brothers two boys, 7 and 9. We are having a problem with the younger one. Every night when he is told to brush his teeth, or pretty much any other time he uses the bathroom, he hides something of his brothers, like toothbrush, toothpaste, or one of his toys behind the toilet or behind the cat litter box. We have tried every kind of punishment I can think of. Spankings, no video games, no toys, no playing outside. I normally let them read books when they are in trouble but I have even taken that away. He does his chores, eats supper and goes to bed. Then he does it again the very next day. Actually, last night he did it, got in trouble, on his way to bed he did it again!!! I have him brushing in the kitchen now but he continues to do it when he goes to the bathroom otherwise. I have also not allowed him to got to grammas, mommas or daddys on their weekend visits. Earlier this week when his brother was visiting his mother, he didn't do it, as soon as brother got home he hide something of his. This is really the only problem with him, he behaves well any other time and gets good grades when school is in. Him and his brother both get equal punishment and reward for their behavior, except his brother learns from his mistakes and does not repeat the act again. They are both shown equal attention, and are both included in extra activities like fishing, assuming they behaved that day or whatever. Any suggestions? This is driving me nuts!! I feel bad and hate seeing him so sad and bored. I want him to have fun and eat snacks and cookies and crap and go fishin, but I know I can't just let him continue this without any punishment. Like I said, he behaves otherwise, it is just this one stupid thing. It wouldn't be a big deal if he didn't do it EVERY night of the week!! I am up for any ideas. Thanks Cliff
  23. I agree, I have this rod and it is a beast. Also makes a great spinnerbait rod. I have also been known to use it with a hollow body frog for accurate casts up in the trash.
  24. The thought of fishing on the weekends is what gets me through the work week. Sometimes I can't wait and get a couple hours in after work during the week!! I know the feeling for sure. Cliff
  25. Just think of all the sweet rods and reels that will be on the market 4-6 years from now when you finish college. Save now my man, sure wish I would have done so when I was your age. Good luck! Cliff
