  1. Awesome man!! Good job.
  2. How important is it to you to match your jig trailer to your jig and why? I always try to match as close as I c an, but what harm would there be in ptting a green pumpkin trailer on a PB&J jig? Just curious how y'all go about it. Thanks Cliff
  3. There is a certain gas station I used to stop at on my way to work to get a can of dip. 530 am every time and always had some bum asking me for money or whatever. One time this guy came up to me and said "hey man you wanna buy some CD's? I know you love country music, I can tell. I got all the best country CD's right here" as he holds up a big case. I can't stand that crap, I don't go there anymore on my way to work. I had another guy in Walmart parking lot promise me a "new set of tires" from where he "works" if I gave him $15 for gas. Cliff
  4. I am!! Last fall was good for me, I don't think I threw anything other than a crank or blade. I caught a lot of fish and some good sized ones too. Looking forward to it. My brother is come in mid October from Ohio to visit. A guided trip on Lake Fork is something I am seriously considering for the two of us. Cliff
  5. Red

    "jaws"

That thing could eat my PB!! Nice job! Cliff
  6. Yeah I hear ya, but lucky for me, it never gets "cold" in Texas. people here don't know what real cold is. I was born and raised in upstate NY and spent 5 years in MN, I know what real cold is. It dosen't get cold in Texas. Cliff
  7. I will be making finesse and flippin jigs, nothing over 1/2oz.
  8. I just thought about another question. How many silicone tabs do you generally use on a jig?
  9. i found some at work I think will be fine. It is thermostat wire. There is ten colored, smaller wires inside. I have enough to last a lifetime!! I just have to strip the colored coating off from it. I will let y'all know how the jigs turn out! Thanks for all the replies. Cliff
  10. HA!!
  11. I would recommend the Revo S. I have five of them and they are great. I also have a C4 (it is for sale in the flea market here on BR) and don't use it at all, it is too big for my hands. It is a nice reel though and casts a mile. As for rods, you have some good recommendations above, but I would also look at the Lamiglas Excel series. They are close to your price range, good warranty, and MADE IN THE USA!!! http://www.***.com/Lamiglas_Excel_Bass_Series_Casting_Rods/descpage-LEBSRC.html I have four of these rods and I can tell you they are sensitive and tough. This past spring I hauled a 6+ pound bass from some timber with the 703 medium light Excel, no probs! Cliff
  12. I have actually been keeping track of every single bass I catch since the first of the year. I have caught 284 bass with 94 of them being keepers, that means 14" or over. Five of those have been over 5lbs and of those five two were over 6lbs. I have caught several in the 2.5-4.5lb range and too many dinks to imagine. So as you can see from my numbers I don't catch "bigguns" alot. This year however, has been much better for me catching in the 2.5-4.5lb range. In past years I would catch dinks or fish over 5lbs, nothing in between. For example, this morning I caught 7 bass, three were dinks. The other four totaled around 9-11lbs roughly, nothing huge, but good solid keepers. Cliff
  13. Ok thanks, I will leave the welding wire for, well, welding I guess. I might be able to round up some small copper at work, I will have to check around the shop. Another question, lets say you make two wraps around your skirt material, how do you finish it off? Twist a couple times and then mash it down?
  14. Thanks for the info guys. I have some skirt material on the way. I have done this in the past with the wire and zip ties. I really suck at doing the wire! No matter how many times or different methods I couldn't get it right. The zip ties were much easier and worked better for me. I was just curious if there was any downside to the zipties. As for the wire, I will probably try again even though it is tough for me. Will welding wire work? I can get stainless welding wire for free at work. It is .035 size, whatever that means. Thanks again Cliff P.S. Anyone have or can make a quick video of tying a skirt with wire, showing a technique or method?
  15. It seems that most of our great jig makers here on BR tie their skirts on with copper wire. I am wondering why this is preferred over the rubber bands? I am going to assume durability is one reason, but what else? Also, has anyone ever used the tiny zip ties to hold the skirt on? Thoughts on that? Thanks Cliff
  16. I have recently started using 20# Invizx for my flippin and pitchin needs. I really like it, no line conditioner and I don't have any issues with it, Of course, I have never tried 25#.
  17. I like it it, you should try one just like it with a dude holding a rod in his hands.
  18. That is a fact! I used to catch alot from the bank just slow draggin a jig on the bottom. Now that I have a boat, all I do is flip and pitch the timber, but thats where the fish are!
  19. Nice! When you make your rod holders, be sure that the rod tips will not hit the ground when your poppin sweet wheelies!!
  20. I have been using Megastrike for several months this year. I think it helps, like Glenn said, more aggressive strikes. I have been on a pretty good jig bite recently and they are really slammin it.
  21. Nice story man, I bet everyone here has one very similar to it, I know I do!
  22. I'll help if I can as well.
  23. and the fish were not cooperating very well. Taylor got two and Bishop one, me none! All on trick worms or senkos, weightless. Was a good time!
  24. Sometimes I take a nap in the afternoon, sometimes I am up the rest of the day. It is worth being tired to beat the idiots at the ramp and catch some fish.
  25. i caught a bunch this morning on a jig. See the outing section for full report!
