  1. Have a Tatula CT, how can I tell if it's a 2019 release or 2021 release? I bought in 2021 so idk if it's was new old 2019 release or the 2021 release
  2. Why you want that one? Particularly why that compared to the tw100 or Elite or sv? I'm seeing it in 6.1 at Omnia for $159.99 and about the same on Amazon
  3. I said i wasn't gonna do this, but at this price I had to pull the trigger. Figured with the savings I could find a spool to put in and still be under full retail plus get the performance I'm looking for. Tatula tw100 for $124 https://a.co/d/hNvTkTa @FryDog62 just in case you needed one more
  4. That is incredibly helpful, thank you
  5. I knew I could trust you I'll look into some reasonably priced synthetic lube available on Amazon or Walmart. Might run it by you for your thoughtsif i find anything. I mean, I'm not sure I'm sold on the value:cost ratio for upgrading bearings anywhere else. Might feel slightly smoother, but I'm looking to maximize performance while not breaking the budget... if i don't have to. How often are you oiling the level wind? @FishTank you too, oil level wind how often? I can see the benefit of that over grease where it's exposed.
  6. What lube wouldn't you need to do this with? Well, I'll let you know how they throw my buzzbait on my zillion, these are the things I was looking for... I think 🤔
  7. It's happening during the cast and not so much as it almost lands. It's my understanding that it does, I could be wrong, finding info on Daiwa products has been a crazy journey, I've learned a little Japanese, Taiwanese, and I've encountered one Trojan horse on some sketchy knock off daiwa forum 😜 My man @thediscochef put me onto spool swapping. Put a Salamandura Sv 150 spool in my CT, put the hybrid ceramics in, and I wish I had a fleet of these. At least for chatterbaits, and I think buzzbaits But I don't remember the end of last year. But it'll put a bladed jig at 45/50 yards all day, with almost no concern for fluff. Hmm Now i know they all share a spool size maybe i will grab another Salamandura spool for the Elite... damit I don't really need to spending more money on this thing though
  8. Honestly the big reason is to have to do less maintenance not having to oil them, I'm totally new with any kind of maintenance so i have no idea about the whens and how muchs. Also it seems that an equal casting distance can be made with less effort in my experience. My tat CT casts effortlessly with hybrids in it. Thanks for your thoughts, maybe I'll just get the cals for everything. I thought I read somewhere that cals isn't great for gears compared to others, requires more frequent applications? Plus @bulldog1935 recommended Si3N4 bearings in the zillion, got a set, and I figured hybrid Si3N4 would be good enough to try in my SV 103.
  9. Hey all, I'm planning to do my first reel break down soon. Is this legit? https://a.co/d/0FaIKK2 Can I use any old grease on the drag washer? I was thinking Daiwa blue grease for the gears? Or could I just put cals on everything? I have the shimano bantam oil that came in the box, should I use that or just get something better? I'm upgrading many reels to hybrid ceramic anyway...
  10. @Bigbox99 when I first got it I put either 12 or 15# big game on next to my zillion with the same line. I tried them both side by side on two different rods and switched to compare them both on each rod again using 1/2 buzzbait. Elite got a slight edge in distance a few times, but so much more of a hassle with fluff or nests and often fell short because of the line issues. I forget what the first line I tried after the contest was, I feel inclined to say a 30or40# braid Most recently 50# j braid x8. I really haven't been using it much because I don't want to deal with the headache. But maybe a better casting lure is what I need. I'm gonna try some 40#braid next, forget which brand I have in stock at the moment
  11. Well then I guess I'll be sticking with my Elite and not getting the new 100, with your extensive experience with the Elite in trust your judgement. Guess I gotta just train my thumb a little, or fudge with the zero adjust a bit more. Or maybe it should just be for aerodynamic air slick lures like a bladed jig or swim jig. Haven't thrown those much on it, but it always fluffs or worse with a buzzbait or spinnerbait.
  12. I appreciate the honesty and insight. If they both casting about the same in terms of distance, is the new 100 a more controlled, or you mean literally all around they behave about the same? I've been struggling to dial in my elite and find the right place for my style of fishing. I was looking into the new 100 for more distance over my SV spools but more controlled than my Elite. If it's about the same I'll just put more time on my Elite. Thanks again bro
  13. Whats the report? @GReb @Blaine Donders @all I'm still curious how the Elite compares to the new Tat tw100 - anybody have experience with both to compare? One longer casting one more controlled?
  14. Did he grab any extra i could buy? I get the sense. New zillion is the next release as well.
  15. Yes, this is good, but only a small part of learning how to be a responsible angler. I'm sure there's a good number of noobs who lurk this forum but don't join, I lurked for a few years before actually signing up. If this is one of the first stops for somebody looking into fishing we should pin a "Start Here" thread. First steps should not be learning about what techniques are best in what conditions or what gear is best bang for the buck, first steps should be learning that we ought to be good stewards of this earth, and that means treating the fish and nature with respect. I've seen videos of young bloods chuckin bass like a hail Mary back into the drink, trying to angle a 5# bass sideways only holding the jaw, putting bedding bass in live wells etc. Also, not to leave your trash and fishing line and stuff all over the place. It's about doing as little harm to all the creatures that inhabit the area. It's about doing the right thing with the small things in life, because in the long run that can help you learn to make better decisions regardless of the setting and be a better person even when nobody is looking. Obviously the pinned thread should go more into detail and explanation and add more, and then also move on to the next first steps to becoming a responsible and effective angler.
  16. Always a good reminder, a good practices and conservation thread should be pinned somewhere
  17. @Chris Cavanaugh sorry to hear about about your boy, hope he recovers quickly. You didn't miss anything man, fishing still been junk. I'm on the North shore and waters still in the 40s, I predict one of those lightning spawns that I totally miss this year.
  18. Have you used the new tat100 and still feel like this?
  19. Where are you seeing these prices? The new tat100 and new tat sv for those prices? @ALL does the SV Boost spool cast as far or farther than the regular spool in the new tat100?
  20. What about 50 acres? Or literally the same 3/4 10-25 yard banks on a water?
  21. Whats your process for this? I've tried to keep a log but always forgot to write anything down or save anything
  22. I think this one really hit the nail on the head, if everybody is already beating that same 20 yard bank to death I might as well take a shot too. I can't actually give it any rest... Now the question is do I rest my tackle? Only throw 1 or 2 lures each visit? Throw everything every time? I'm over thinking all this just fish?
  23. About 2 hours to touch vt border 3 hours to some random spot on near candlewood lake
