  1. He wouldn’t elaborate, name a manufacturer or dates but said “soon”. I am aware of saltwater reels that had two gear (ratio) capabilities but nothing for freshwater, specifically for bass fishing.
  2. I attended a local fishing show this weekend at Honey Creek Tackle and in a seminar by Fred Roumbanis he hinted to a new “major product development “ coming soon. The hints were aimed towards a new reel which possibly would have the ability to contain multiple gear ratios in one reel; ie. 8.3:1, 7.1:1, 6.3:1 and 5.2:1 (these ratios are an example and my input not mentioned or suggested ratio’s). Point being, one reel that with the push of a button, flip of a switch or adjustment of a knob one would be able to have the desired lure retrieve speed without changing reels or rods. I see this as a total game changer. As example a MH/F rod with one reel could fish crankbaits, tie on a spinnerblade or put on a midsized punch jig without having to change rods. I know this is totally out of reasoning of many tackle aficionados or gear junkie but could make sense for those on a limited budget or new to the sport who have limited gear availability. I have never seen such a reel and don’t believe one exists. I find it intriguing. Any thoughts?
  3. Hundreds and hundreds yearly! In the 60-80k price range locally there are several every week sold in season and around 3/4 per month in the winter. That’s at one dealership I frequent. And these numbers are nothing to the saltwater boats at 5 to 10 times the price. It’s all perspective. Heck I could never figure out who was purchasing the multi hundreds of new 800k/one million dollar + homes being built around town.
  4. My Neice and Nephew-in-law own Honey Creek Tackle and have a fishing show every winter with Pro’s, give-aways and seminars. I took my Wife’s great nephew for some wintertime fishing experience, even if it wasn’t on the water. I had planned on getting him a new rod/reel combo but he was determined to wait for the door prize raffle because he just ‘knew’ he was going to win a new combo. With hundreds of people attending I tried to temper his enthusiasm a bit as to prepare him for not winning anything and encouraged him to look at reels he may want to get. We sat through two seminars, one on forward facing sonar the other a Q&A with the Pro’s, which was really quite interesting. Finally they held the drawings and lo and behold he won a prize, a $200 Weigh Safe adjustable ball hitch! He’s 13 and no use for the prize. He was disappointed until they offered him a $200 in store credit in exchange which absolutely made his day, heck his winter! A few minutes later we were out the door with TWO new spinning combos, a free Berkley fishing hat and two spools of braid for his new combos (which I did buy for him). It did my heart good and made a young fisherman extremely happy and gave both of us a much needed boost of Springtime anticipation, brushing off some of the winter doldrums.
  5. I checked in like,,,,,,,,eight times ! Glad that’s over 😬 Thank you
  6. I have ABEC 7 orange seal in all my Curados except one which I have Speed Spool ceramic bearings in. I’ve been really, really happy with the Speed Spool kit. The cost for the three bearing kit were less than two of the ABEC and cast a bit better. May be just a slightly freer reel but definitely smother.
  7. I own all GLoomis rods except for one Kistler KLX casting and a recent Tatula M/XS 7’ spinning rod which I have found to be quite a pleasant rod for ned, wacky, small spinners and jerks. Price was nice too. A very light rod.
  8. Absolutely correct, to each their own @flyfisher ! I will say there isn’t any place I can’t take my canoe that I could take my AP120. I just appreciate the larger interior space and wider stability of the canoe.
  9. For me they still are to this day. I find them perfect for the way I fish, 783c, 784c and 844c MBR’s.The only technique specific rod I own is a GLX MBR 804c JWR which is my dedicated t-rig, jig and creature bait rod. I throw 1/2 oz w/trailers, creating a 3/4 ish bait just fine. The only 7/8-1oz bait is a punch jig which I throw on the same rod, very seldom, which it handles fine . I find the MBR rods fantastic!
  10. I read the title as NOTICE OF PLANNED OUTRAGE and thought, Oh this oughta be good! 🤣 Thank you, good luck
  11. Ha ha, not upset in the least and certainly not offended. Jezzzz the internet sure is a tough place to have dissenting points of view conversations! I apologize if I offended you which wasn’t my point of response. Totally agree loop knots have their place, but for me, never on a weighted bait. I used the 110 as an example as it’s a $25 lure that I would surely never trust a loop knot with. On a crappie jig, absolutely but my point being just because something has been around for ever doesn’t make it the “do all-end all” and certainly not a solution looking for a problem but could become a problem if used in the wrong application. Relax brother it’s winter, no issues here
  12. Indiana Once registered you only pay the renewal fee every year. Then add the trailer, which is about $40 per year. So renewal on my Sportspal canoe and trailer is around $50 per year.
  13. Thank you, sarcasm intended 😁 Just like the classic line “ “ have been around forever and continue to be popular. I still use the aforementioned loop knot, just not on Megavision 110 lure. We are always looking for a better mouse trap.
  14. Buying a new rod (or 2) tomorrow, any help would be appreciated waaaaaaaaaattt! 🫣
  15. I’ll guarantee “stress” on the loop is much greater than line running through line or reel guides. If those are your issues then it’s time to upgrade to some gear made in this century!
  16. I get my product reviews and gear selections from members here on BR, although there are some fans of gear I would never consider but it is good to see the variety and the force is strong in many. Winter time I watch BR videos as entertainment information and do watch Greg Blanchard’s videos as he promotes competitive kayak fishing in a fun way without pimping any tackle. Spring, summer and fall I’m fishing!
  17. This omitting step 5 , as @Team9nine stated is what I use on crappie jigs. Never used it on bigger baits because I don’t like a single line tie on the eye of a heavier bait. Just don’t trust it as the line connection becomes thinner by rubbing on the eye by repetitive casting and retrieving.
  18. We bought a Veesee streaming box ($300) a couple years ago. We have a wireless modem for our home internet ($40. monthly T-mobile). You plug the box into the power outlet and tv, connect wirelessly to the internet and enjoy, paying no streaming service. So we paid a onetime fee for the V3 Veesee box and a monthly internet connection fee for the modem (tv, laptops, phones, etc.) and it’s great not paying Xfinity every month. We did buy through a local “dealer” for a discounted cost who downloaded the programs before we got it. That helped with the setup but not a big deal to do otherwise.
  19. Yeah the Outdoor channel is mostly hunting, which I don’t watch either. Same happened to us with cable. We bought a streaming box and now get hundreds of channels with no cable bill. Win, Win!
  20. Condolences on your loss. Our beloved frenchie is closing in on his final years and it is disheartening to even think about the loss. Keep the positive thoughts and memories close to your heart and she’ll never be forgotten. Rest easy Lola
  21. Check out Greg Blanachard on youtube. He’s an ambassador for Titan and uses most all the size models. He has several videos specifically on the 10.5 and 12.5
  22. I have the World Fishing Network and the have all the fishing shows on 24/7. Along with the Outdoor Channel fishing shows are always on.
  23. Propel’s pocket fisherman, bought it loved it, got laughed at for using it! Best glove box rod I owned. Helicopter lure, bought them, fished ‘em, never caught anything on ‘em. (Actually just watched a recent Roland show where he threatened to get one out and use it. I believe it was more of a tease to those who had bought into them) Dragon jig (probably a midwest build), a jig head with long flat rubber skirt with an even longer paddle tail which looked soooo good in the exhibition tank as it crawled across the bottom, but couldn’t catch a cold. Bud Erhardt fish’n stiks, loved the idea of the round wrapped guides turning the line from the top to the bottom of the eye. However the action on one was too soft and whippy and the other super stiff. The heavy does make a nice stripper trolling rod though with an Ambassador clicker reel on it. Come to find out they are popular in the walleye world, not so much a bass rods. Recently, the whole BFS craze. I bought in and got three complete setups for the river only to find the small spools s**k. Most small lures are just to light for moving water to have any feedback or feel. I can’t throw a 1/4 oz spinner without spooling all the line. I much prefer my 5’ 6” ultra light spinner setup for small work.
  24. Seems to be pretty typical in a lot of threads lately.
