  1. Shimano. I don’t usually even consider price. If I want a specific reel I pay the cost. I was taught not to haggle over dimes, theres more to life than money.
  2. GLoomis IMX SJR 781 6’6” light/fast Shimano Spirex 15# P-Line Spin Braid w/10-12# P-Line Shinsei leader Casting is a IMX M/F 782c -Curado Bantam 10-12# Yozuri T7 fluro
  3. River’s up enough down here in Martintucky area. Geist oughta be doable. Should be nice enough for a jerk bait,,,,,just say’n. Have fun
  4. Where you fishing tomorrow? All the small waters around me are hard, but then there’s the river. I had a ‘98 Lund 14’, very similar design, with a 9.9 and it was ok. It was a bit tippy so sitting most of the time was the only comfortable way to fish it. Great river boat though.
  5. Congratulations, nothing like the thrill of your first boat! Have fun!
  6. Apparently OP is a bling monster! He’s got too many post about “nobody got no style” bs. Troll bait Darn it, he got me to respond
  7. Luck is when preparedness and opportunity meet. I always try to be prepared when opportunity presents itself,,,with my favorite Deep Wee R tied on.
  8. At least I had the year right! Nice ride.
  9. I tried that with my Sportspal but the square stern made it really slow 😝
  10. Izzat like a 64(ish) Galaxy convertible in the background?!!
  11. I believe right now he’s using Lew’s reels. He has worked for several companies in the industry throughout the years and has a lot of connections in design and production development companies. Have no idea but I did ask and his lips were sealed!
  12. I did say I fished bass tournaments many, many years ago and quit because of money and time commitments. However, I failed to remember the kayak tournaments I now fish but it’s a much simpler process so don’t really consider them “tournaments “. Typical kayak tournament rules; top five fish, total length using a measuring board but the caveat is you can fish one 8 hour day any day of the Monday through Sunday period. The body of water is posted for the tournament, you have seven days to go fish for eight hours and submit your top five catches through TourneyX app. Results are posted afterwards with cost at $25 to enter and top three paid out, amount depending on how many entries. Having the luxury to fish any day of the week is awesome and really relieve the “tournament “ pressure. No early mornings deadlines, just go at your own pace. Events are usually every five/six weeks and the locations are within one/one and half hour away. There are like four lake series and two river series to chose from with typically five lake locations in each series and three rivers. The biggest kick of all is they include trolling motor powered canoes along with the kayaks so is perfect for me!
  13. No? Well they do have plenty of inspiration!
  14. Offer no help but https://tbnation.net/ is a dark hole I travel into now and then.
  15. Different thread, different day 😁
  16. I quit because I wasn’t any good! Seriously, myself and brother-in-law fished many local tournaments years ago but found,,,, it was expensive. The cost both financial and time were too much of a commitment for us. To be successful it requires a devotion that must be a top priority. We have more fun fishing when we want or where we want without the stress of competition, and to me the competition just didn’t matter. I didn’t care if we caught one or twenty it was about having a god time and having many other hobbies and responsibilities to commit to another full time job, which is what successful tournament fishing requires.
  17. Respectfully,I don’t see your point. A quick look and I see at least 14 car manufacturers using CVT today over several models. Not counting tractors, scooters, mowers, snowblowers and many more CVT’s successful usage. I don’t think we’re talking about mounting an infinite speed transmission on a rod with 12 pound fluro! But good point made Once again, gotta think outside the box. Innovation isn’t inventive without forging new methodology and philosophies .
  18. I like this idea too, and not to say this isn’t the direction of a new planned reel. It’s a speculation at this point.
  19. I agree, heavy is heavy. But I would think those considerations are taken into account in design and manufacturing. A Bantam (since mentioned earlier) is 225 grams. A multi geared reel at 275 or even 300 grams doesn’t seem to be a deal breaker if delivering ultra performance. Once again I believe thinking is geared (no pun intended) towards present day comparison’s in material and production processes, not considering ultra high end components and materials that can deliver such an item. My fear is the cost which I think would be prohibitive.
  20. Once again, thinking of present production models technology -vs- cutting edge processes and materials. I think the fear would be “I don’t want a reel that cost 3 Bantams”
  21. I ponder new technology and manufacturing techniques that could use “space age” materials for gearing enabling it to be almost micro thus allowing for three, four ratios in one reel. I don’t see a new two speed but a multi geared reel offering the ability to change gearing for different presentations not for providing extra granny gear. Nothing at all similar to previous outdated models. Processes have changed from years past and new technologies have to think outside the box to be successful. There is nothing even close between a past production multi geared model to a (new) multiple geared reel. I believe our thinking is to narrow and focused on past experiences and products verses visualization of a completely new direction of production. Maybe not…………..
  22. Yes, all the “con” comments are the obvious, not that there are any “pro” comments to offset the practical side of a multi-gear reel. Just the curious messenger for a new idea of reels, although all innuendo, speculation and guesswork at this point. Sizing, to me seems to be the biggest issue, three or four gear ratios in one housing would make a pretty hefty unit!
  23. Yes some serious discounts on tackle, rods at 25-50% off as well as clothing. All baits, line at least 15% + off. Mark Menendez was there along with Zaldine, Roumbanis and Patric Walters. Good seminars and a packed house.
