  1. I would be more impressed if they would have ridden up the hill!
  2. The other 17,950 members are all busy fishing.
  3. Redneck woman
  4. I bought one last year and it is a really good reel for the price. It casts a mile, has a smooth drag, and it makes a DD22 feel like you're reeling in slack line.
  5. Yeah, the Gamecocks really looked like a top 25 team today!
  6. If you find a place like that, see if there is an Army post nearby!

    WHY???

Were you both using the same line?
  9. No kidding! It took me forever to dig a puked up super fluke out of my drain. It was half digested and kept falling apart and it was too slimey to get a grip on. Good times!
  10. Thats not really true. You are eligible for 100% tuition assistance while you're still in the military. Every Army post has an education center where you can take college courses. There is also correspondence, distant learning, CLEP, etc. available at the tax payers expense. What? During Operations Iraqi Freedom and Desert Storm the Army and Marines went in at the same time, after the Air Force bombed the crap out of the enemy.
  11. I think I need to learn to type faster. You posted that while I was typing mine.
  12. I am fortunate enough to have two outstanding lakes within 15 minutes of my house. I haven't always been so lucky, however, and in the past I've been known to drive a very long way to fish. If you are looking for something close, I would suggest talking to the local game warden and tackle shop owners. You're not going to get any secret honey holes out of these guys, but they should be able to point you in the right direction.
  13. TGIF!
  14. 19D I'm a scout platoon sergeant. Whats yours?
  15. And they all truly believe it! Something else you might consider, since you're looking at the reserves, is to visit the reserve center and talk to some of the guys there. They may be able to tell you a little more about the unit, planned training events, future deployments, etc... Also, check out goarmy.com and marines.com. They never lie!
  16. I use both. Last time I took one of those cheap collapsible spinning rods. This time I'm packing one of my older baitcasters. I'm sure I'll get some funny looks when I start pitchin' and flippin' to imaginary bass, not unlike the ones I get from my neighbors when I do it in my backyard.
  17. I did a tour as an Army recruiter from 2001-2004 and I got to know my competition well. There have been some changes since then, but I don't think they were anything too drastic. The GI bill is the same for all branches, but each branch has an additional college fund that you may qualify for. Something you need to think about if you're looking at the reserves is job availability. While you may qualify for a whole lot of jobs, there will be much fewer available in your area. If you are set on being an MP, for example, and the nearest MP unit is 300 miles away, you may need to consider a different job (or a different branch). Be sure to talk to recruiters from all the reserve components and find out what types of jobs are available. If you want to talk about active components, PM me and I will give some pros and cons for each branch.
  18. Thats awesome! You ever take him out to Belton to tangle with those hybrids?
  19. Yeah, I fished the Tigris and Euphrates last time, but never caught anything. Anyway, the way things are looking, we may not have the freedom to do stuff like that anymore. If they don't sign the SOFA or extend the U.N. mandate we may not be doing much of anything.
  20. I get those stupid things in the mail all the time for a truck I sold a year and a half ago!
  21. I'm not sure how accessible the internet will be. Last time, I was able to get on, but had to wait in some pretty long lines.
  22. What would you do if you had to give up fishing for one year? How would you cope with the fishing withdrawals? How would you continue to hone your skills without actual time on the water? In just about a month, I'll be boarding a plane for another tour in Iraq. I'm just looking for any ideas to keep me from losing my mind. Can anyone recommend any good, fishing related books/DVDs?
  23. Thats a good idea! A local worm rancher recently came up short a dozen head of nightcrawlers at his annual worm roundup. He believes it to be the work of worm rustlers!
