  1. Hmmmm, so sometimes bigger is better!!! I love shallow square billed crankbaits in slow moving water. up to about 5 ft deep!!! Favorite is the Rapala Fat DT 1 in bleeding olive shiner...many a smallie has fallen victim to this particular crankbait a few PBs
  2. Sorry guys i dont have any pics. I was out last weekend and caught my new PB which is 19-7/8in. and weighed around 4 -1/4 lbs. She had some nice markings on her. Probably the darkest smallie i remember catching. Carson
  3. Alrighty, I will try it and let you know wut happens. When i said tube in space i meant open water. I also meant somewhere between surface and structure that is the key here i would assume that i left out. Sorry about that but thanks. I will definitely try it whenver i get to somewhere i can catch some lmb.
  4. I know that fishing tubes in space works for smallies. But will this technique work for largemouths. I have never tried it for LM. All help will be appreciated.
  5. Yep in PA they run jan1st thru dec.31. I got mine the second week of january and i paid 32.40 for regular license and trout stamp...last year it was 31 even.
  6. I use topwater mostly for early mornin, late evening and night fishing unless t is raining then i will use it during the day, but i can usually find something else that works better during the day. I would definitely be takin some rage toads, buzzbaits, zara spook type baits and jitterbug type baits.
  7. Comin thru town i seen gas for 2.69 in Port Royl PA at the BP station. and wut suprised me even more was that even supreme was under 3.00 a gallon. I really hope it keeps goin down I'd love to see it under 2.00...haha yeah rite wishful thinking...lol
  8. I know we have all been impacted by the high gas prices lately but it seems that the price is decreasing at a rather fast rate. the beginning of the week it was somewhere like 3.49 for a gallon of regular it is now 2.89 for regular. We have seen gas prices under 3.00 by christmas, i am rather suprised to see this. But it has happened and it is fine with me if they keep falling.
  9. sorry bout that i didnt think about that when i posted it, its a Pinnacle platinum plus p100. It is a fairly cheap reel but it works and thats all that matters to me now due to very low income from bein in school. again thanks carson
  10. I have a problem with my level wind sticking to the left side and i dont know exactly how to fix it, i think that the gear moved slightly to the right and that is why it sticks, how do i fix this problem without going to the company?? all help is appreciated and thanks carson
  11. Wait i know... everyone get a bicycle and ride it to work this friday... that would basically break the oil companies down because they would lose millions of dollars just in one day...lol I highly doubt that many will do this but... anyone know a way to keep methane a liquid while its in ur gas tank???? its easy to make it however its in a gas form and u must keep it cold to make it a liquid, and if u try to burn it as a gas u will blow it up... however the liquid will burn just like gasoline...so when somebody thinks of a way to keep it cold in the tank(idk how cold but under room temp) then we can move forward with a new source...lol we can even start our own company on resource here...jk
  12. idk either cuz it dont take nearly as much to refine deisel, the only thing i can think is that maybe they make it high cuz they know they can and get away with it cuz all the big rigs need it so they can provide the essential goods from the farm to the store and such. So basically they are just takin advantage of our dependence on oil to get rich quick...
  13. Do they fight like smallies?? cuz where i live we got smallies and u cant beat that fight lb for lb
  14. This is usually how I work a senko too but if that doesnt produce i always try slowing down and jigging it right along the bottom. If that doesnt work ill speed up and steadily crank and just pop it every few seconds. If that dont work i generally T-rig it and try it slow, fast, mid depth whatever i can till i find what the fish want. The only difference is that I am usually fishing in a crick rather than pond or lake but same principals still apply for the most part. I generally choose my color based upon what the water clarity is as well.
  15. do the fish bite better when the pressure is falling or when it is stable before a low pressure system comes through?
  16. alrite thanks yall Ill try it next time when i get out probably this week sometime. Thanks!
  17. Gootta be the fight especially after you play a smallie for five minutes or so. Just a great adrenaline rush. But it keeps your ego in check when you lose one as well.
  18. what exactly is it and how do you do it and why does it work. I heard of it but never tried it and never saw anyone doing it so i know nothing.
  19. Well i never really fished for walleye but my buddy accidently caught one on a nightcrawler at codorus while just trolling along. But anyway check out www.walleyefishingsecrets.com and see if you can get anything from there. I never really got into it I just know of it.
  20. Well the easiest way of telling them apart would probably be location. Because I believe that hybrids are the only stripers that can survive fresh water. I may not be rite if I'm not someone please tell me. I learned out of a school textbook so...lol
  21. Being that you are fishing in PA, and most bass around me now(central pa)in lakes are spawning right now, the bigger ones may not bite. If you really want them to bite just watch how they react to sunfish and smaller bass when they get too close if they attack aggressively to defend, then put on a big slow crankbait in the same color as the fish that the big bass are attacking. Work it right up to them and kill it. Then jerk the rod a few times and reel the rest of the way back in. If that doesnt work try a suspending crankbait in the same color and same technique as before mentioned and see if that works. and as others have said be very stealthy especially with clear water. They have very good upward eyesight. better than sidewqys and straighforward eyesight.
  22. Ive been out for trout about 5 times this year and havent caught anything. I just think its so boring after being able to go for ten minutes on a good day and catch a nice 3 pound smallie that fights like crazy there just no comparison so i dont have any favorite lures because none of the ones i try ever work.........ERRRRRRR
  23. Any body use them I read the reviews and they seem to be a good quality reel for the price which is closer to my price range. So I am seriously thinking about buying one from BPS. Whats yalls opinions on a good quality reel for under 60 bucks?
  24. first off sorry about the long time wait...havent had time to get on lately. and to answer both of your questions i was fishin a small pond around mifflintown its several miles south of mifflintown but but town is the closest "big" town to me. and when i fish the river its usually around the mifflintown area also. the captain
  25. well yesterday me and mobydick went around lookin for new places to fish. we tried 3 ponds before we caught anything. but when we did we were kinda stunned to see what they were. every one we caught was spotted bass the biggest probably being around 14". all together we caught 10 in about thirty minutes. but the weird thing other than them bein spots was that they had red on their upper lips every one of them did. is this normal? and if not what does it result from? the captain
