  1. The Big Bass podcast documents how the Black Bass was moved west, and then all the history behind the S. Cal FLGM stockings and such. So much great info, you'd know most of the guys in the stories or being interviewed I'm sure. The U.S. Gov't way back in the day sent a guy across the country on a train IIrc with N. LGM and stocked them in any body of water they came across.
  2. Milliken called it "Pamela" back then in his videos ?
  3. Haha, yeah I've been pondering it. Got to get a second swimbait setup, pretty set on getting a Calcutta 300, but like this rod and the Leviathan Omega rod. A buddy has a bunch of those rods, and they're really nice, and I love how they do the handle. Then again I like the KGB rod's handle and cork sections more. I don't have a good reason to buy another rod besides another Alpha Angler Wide Glide which I currently have, but you know better than me......variety is the spice of life ?
  4. Garmin owns Live Scope and to my knowledge was the first to introduce it to the commercial market. Active Target is Lowrances version, and Hummingbird has MegaLive All forms of Forward Facing Sonar. No it can't be used with the Striker series, you need a LVS 32/34 transducer a GL10 blackbox, and then a compatible Garmin chartplotter to run Garmin's Live Scope.
  5. Those peacocks are so cool, nice pics......good comparison b/t the two. If they get big down there like in S. America I'd just fish for them, are they as complex as Largemouths?.....I'm sure they're easier to catch, a FLGM is one of the harder fish to catch.
  6. I have no problem doing it in the lakes that are being monitored for E Coli. My homelake just had samples taken and everything was fine, and then the State recently conducted it's yearly sample across all the major lakes, only one hotspot. The reality is though I fish covered up, if I fished in swimtrunks and a tshirt....yeah I'd be jumping in half dozen times I'm sure.
  7. We truly live on different planets lol. About 5pm it was 107 felt temps.....#SizzlingBaconWeather
  8. Ironic that I actually had one of those toy monkeys as a kid ?
  9. Got a KGB Chad Shad in colorway 021 to compare with the SPRO version. Some pretty big differences between the two just based on dimensions. The real deal is more "snack sized", cast a x1000 better, and the finish isn't really comparable immediately jump out. I threw it a bit earlier, and it swims awesome.....I can't do it yet, but it will completely 360 closer to the boat. Wish I would have known KGB was short for crack ?
  10. Alabama is pretty hot right now, and I'm not a fan of skin cancer.
  11. 1000%......I'm super guilty of this. As an angler I'm guilty of this certainly, a Bass is so far superior to other FW gamefish in my mind, but I know a Wallhead is the same way to some guy living up north. Not really picking favorites when it comes to ponds and Otters though, they'll kill every last fish if they can. Nothing eco about that ?
  12. This really shines true in the winter months, sure it does in July as well, but who the heck is fishing in the middle of the day in central AL.......the Debil, that's who?
  13. My head says that you're likely correct, the majority of big fish spend their lives in deeper water and that's a relative term and especially in the WRB vs. Catt's home ponds deal. On the other hand, when I look at the several dozen 5+, and my top 5 for the year, I'm catching these fish in depths ranging from 30ft to a 7.1 in January in less than FOW. The majority of the big fish I catch I have been in that 3-8ft range.....which is what I believe is the prime feeding range. These fish want to push up shallow to limit the area of escape when feeding, but the majority of the time I bet they slide off and live in deeper haunts. One thing that is always consistent for me with big fish, they LOVE points, and the more unique those points are, the more big fish they hold I've found. Ones that have great dropoffs to deep water with little 25sq yd type "feeding flats" are prime to me. Once I get the LVS 34, I think I'll understand this idea better.
  14. Like that dude who sets up a tripod and nice cam at Haulover Inlet down near Miami, similar to a boat ramp but much more exciting. You'll see a redneck in Jon boat with like 8pax aboard try to run the inlet ? That channel likely makes 75k+ yearly, crazy.
  15. Gunfight at the O.k. Corralramp ? One of the best places to see mankind's stupidity is any public boat ramp during the summer months. I could likely start and youtube channel with a livecam feed and make a living ?
  16. Happy to help, I know how happy my Zillions made me ?
  17. I used to get all jelly and mad when I watched the Herons pluck 1lb Bass, then over time I realized how the couple of Herons on the lake police the other Herons and fish eating birds. It really is quite beautiful how perfectly nature balances itself if we don't put our footprint down to heavily on it. Your awesome pond and sanctuary I'm sure allows you to see this everyday you walk outside. The circle of life is scary and awe inspiring all at the same time.
  18. That's crazy beautiful Katie, awesome fish as well! Your fish are always so blemish free, you've carved out a piece of truly unmolested Bass fishing in your area. You seemingly have all those Bass to yourself, and equally all that nature and water to yourself........you can't buy that, it's a priceless commodity.
  19. No, the P is slowest....5.5 You want the H model ZILLION SV TW 21 ZILLION SV TW 1000H RIGHT (digitaka.com) Word of caution, if you buy a new Zillion, either model....you're going to wish every single reel you fish with was one. They ruined me, the drags, the smoothness, the price, everything, truly perfect Bass reels.
  20. Modern day humans have no idea how good we have it.
  21. Nice, biggest disappoint when I came back to the sport was to see all the JDM high end rods at my local store made in China...Shimano, MegaBass, Daiwa, all of their high end stuff was made there.
  22. Then out west you got Dworshak which many think holds the next WR You got the NY lakes popping right now too. You can't say any one lake or body of water is the best. Cayuga had more 5+ SMs than I could imagine, but I doubt it has the biggest SM in the world like Erie, Dworshak, or the Southern impoundments.
  23. Considering the journey to catch that toad, who cares what the scales said.......made the trip and hard work totally worth it ? Beautiful fish, not beat up at all.
  24. That's killer, from a drop? Toxic has really cool baits.
  25. Mary Jane must have been on the boat as well ?
