Wow, what a morning you had! Great job Katie, you catch so many Bass as always, truly never would have imagined Maine had this level of Bass fishing.....then again I imagine most in Maine don't either considering how off the beaten path you fish. Your fish are always so beautiful and healthy. While the Smallmouth are as beautiful as ever, those big lunkerhead with deep lateral lines, and dark green hues are my favorites. I caught one yesterday that reminded me of you, forgot the memory stick in the camera haha. The older I get, the more I think the Largemouth might be my favorite. It's always been much harder for me to catch big LGM than big Spots or Smallmouth.

6", 6" Fat, and 7". I couldn't pick a favorite between the three types, but there is nothing close to them in my book. A 6" on a shakey head will keep you skunk free.

This, just tried it for the first time last week, current makes it a real pain. It's deadly looking though, and I imagine on a pond it would get double ups in no time.

Dang.....45minutes is pretty epic for a freshwater fight for sure. I believe it though. I haven't caught one in decades, but as a kid I fished specifically for them lots. I'd say my biggest was 10-15lb Channel. That size is one heck of fight, couldn't imagine a 50lb blue or channel.

Sorry I offended you, wasn't my goal. That said, I've never met a serious Bass fisherman who used only braid. I've also said many times on here there is no hard and fast rules to Bass fishing. I'm glad braid works for you

Bass fishing is the most nuanced hobby/sport/activity I've ever seriously pursued in life. The slightest wobble on a crankbait might make all the difference, a little lighter tip on the rod can lead to landing way more fish on moving baits. the difference b/t 6lb and 8lb mono is one angler in a boat catching smallie after smallie, while another angler in the boat can't catch a single one. The only thing I know for sure about Bass fishing is there is no hard and fast rules to anything. Weather, tackle, techniques.....nothing has a hard set of rules.

You guys make that uniform proud, looks fantastic on the both of you. Sadly standards of all types are going down the drain. I'm the exact opposite, unless I'm throwing frogs or something into Lil Vietnam, I have no use for braid. I dislike it to be honest. I might setup a Ned Rig rod/reel and use braid/leader, but again it's a very niche product in my fishing. 15-20lb Fluorocarbon is incredibly durable, and abrasion resistant. Has more forgiveness built in it for moving baits, very sensitive, and obviously invisible underwater. I've never met a serious Bass angler that only used braid. Lots of them use braid for unique applications, but I'd still guess the majority of their setups are non braid.

Only thing you think more about more than Vol football, and fishing is food....you're the biggest foodie on here I think ?

Wow Braves just don't want to win the division it looks like, talk about a blown opportunity last night. Now they have to face the Met's 3 best pitchers for basically the division title. Gonna be some epic baseball games this weekend hopefully though, and Truist Park will be loaded to the max.

Those are some exceptionally beautiful fish, great job! Even the little 12-15" Rainbows I catch that are stocked give me a big thrill....hate to admit it but they are prettier to look at than a Bass. What a fun sounding trip too, you are incredibly blessed and lucky to have such a great daughter who shares your passion, let alone fishing as a passion. Here's to many more trips for the two of you, that stuff is priceless

1. crankbait That's all I'm interested in throwing, other stuff works, but I can't find anything that produces more fish than a variety of crankbaits in the Fall. I don't use them much after that except some during the summer.

Welp I found my new favorite Crankbait rod as well ? Caught a pig today on it using a squarebill, and over the past 2 days, it's boated 15-20 fish on the crank. Not a single fish came unpinned, something I've never experienced with crankbaits until this rod. I honestly believe I would have lost the big fish today if not for the rod because of my moronic handling of the net to early in the fight. If I could boil it down to one single word for this rod, I would use "forgiving".....this is the most forgiving rod I've ever fished. The rod is just incredible for moving baits of all types it seems, the only downside is that it's ruined me. I don't want to fish with other rods right now until I go back to bottom contact fishing. If it moves, I want this rod in my hands. Lastly, it's deceptively light for what it is, back-to-back days I've thrown hundreds of cast with it, and zero fatigue. The sensitivity is exceptional as well, you can feel even the slightest swirl at your bait, and the slowest thump of a crankbait or chatterbait's blade. I'll be getting a second one soon enough so that I can dedicate another one to crankbaits. I know they make a raved about Rebound crankbait rod, but this one seems perfect already, and it's nice to have consistency from moving bait rod to moving bait rod I would imagine.

Dang I thought it would be better for you. It was not nearly the same level of bite I had yesterday, however ironically enough instead of catching lots of fish, I caught a really nice LGM, and 3 other 1-2lb fish. Every fish came off a 6th Sense squarebill Crankbait that runs 4-6ft. They all were caught when the squarebill deflected off brush. I work these the same way I almost do the Chatterbaits, moving it as slowly as I can, and then stopping every so often if it doesn't naturally come in contact with structure. Wind was absolutely crazy in a jon boat and 50lb thrust motor......but like you the weather besides that was just perfect. Not a cloud in the sky, and mid 70s. Now I see why I catch Bass with huge flesh wounds like the one yesterday.....

This is likely the correct policy to have, and certainly mine. The angler in the video was obeying this policy seemingly, but he didn't account for a Karen staring out her window just looking for something to Karen about lol.

He handled that better than I would have, that makes me irate just watching. Imagine being so entitled you think you own the water. I get if somebody is climbing on your dock, boat, chunking heavy baits that hit your boat, etc. That's not happening here, that lady just wanted to own the whole lake to herself. Whoever that guy is, I'd love to buy him a beer. Sounds like my kind of person.
