  1. Intelligent humans have a strong desire to figure out why things work. Some more BS biology for you
  2. Hey friends, can anyone help me pick b/t these two models. Usage: I plan to put this on an Alpha Angler Wide Glide 7'9 Glidebait/Swimbait/A Rig rod.......or an Alpha Angler Magnum Rebound 7"6 rod. Either way it's gonna be used to throw 1oz plus baits long ways. Gonna use 15-20lb Fluorocarbon most likely as well on it. Just a month ago or so I got a JDM Zillion SV TW that blew me away, I have no problem sticking with the Zillion line up. However, I also have the OG Steez and love it, and would love to have another Steez model in the lineup. They are very close in price.....Zillion is like 280, the Steez is 308. Are these models good for what I'm looking for, and do you have preference with one vs. the other. Thanks in advance!
  3. I wish I was a fish biologist, but obviously am not so I'm always just throwing out my theories based on anecdotal evidence and data points. The actual fish biologist I know isn't all that impressive on Bass, and in general very very few are. One could make the argument that professional or savant level Bass anglers are the true experts of Bass biology. I might be mildly autistic though, so my point connecting skills might be extra sharp ?
  4. Beautifully rich LGM brother, like Katie said, they look like those heathy dark beauties she pulls from the bogs and swamps Seems that regardless of latitude, LGM get this rich dark green color in more swamp, boggy type waters. I'm a bit of a zoom man myself, my biggest fish including my PB until this year almost exclusively came off Zoom Magnum 8" Lizards. Caught a few nice fish on that Junebug Ol Monster too. It's just so big for a worm, feels un-natural but it works.
  5. Why thank you Katie, and right back at you. Nobody more encouraging, and friendly than yourself on here, and that's saying something as this is a community full of amazing folks.
  6. Well it's gotta be tomorrow then lol......huge drop in temps on Tuesday, been putting in extra hours fishing in front of this thing mainly fishing for my DD home lake goal. Eventually you have to pick up some smaller baits and catch a few fish to keep yourself going. Caught 7-8 fish, mixed bag, and did catch one pig that I did break the scale out for, but it was only 4.2lb. This is perhaps the shortest, fattest LGM I've ever caught, and such a fantastic fighter for a LGM. She came off a 3/8th JackHammer in BamaBug with a 4" Live Magic Shad trailer with spiked tailed. She was hiding in a laydown near deep water and the main lake channel. These are the places I've been catching all my fish over 5lbs since the end of July. They get under a dock, or besides a laydown somewhere near the main channel with close access to deeper water, and then let the current and surface wind bring the bait right by their faces is my theory. Lastly, the type of conditions I'm struggling to deal with Always so envious of your wonderful fishing partners, your fish are fantastic as always too 100%.....didn't hurt this year like in 2020, 2019, and 2018 though. Knowing WS history, the likihood to repeat is very low, and a number of teams have never won a WS. I'm grateful us fans got to have such an epic run to the WS ring last year. If we can do that once a decade, I'll be happy.
  7. What beautiful trees and country, great stuff man! Beautiful fish, I'll get banned if I said what I wish happened to people like that. That's why we can't have nice things in society.
  8. I feel the same way about P Line's Ultimate Flurocarbon in 15lb......absolutely amazing in terms of abrasion resistance. Extraordinarily tough line. I'll have to try the Tactical....I like the name lol
  9. Downsize, and then when you think you've downsized, downsize a little more. I spend half my time fishing for a DD, and the other half fishing for any Bass that will bite. The lure size is dramatically different for both types of fishing. Don't be afraid to throw a Beetle Spin or something. Finesse stuff is usually a good skunk killer. Lastly, this is what actually makes Bass fishing so addictive, and exhilarating.....it's not easy catching Bass reliably
  10. Early bird gets the worm I see, great job again Katie. Way to take advantage of the weather. If Bass only bit in the morning, I'd be a golfer ?
  11. I'll guess I'll get my UGA memes ready for when Tennessee inevitably gets embarrassed in Athens ? You need to turn in your Southerner card in as well.
  12. Sad Diego VS Lone Star Cheaters This postseason has been slap full of meme magic, and the Padres caught the magic I'll take the Padres in 5
  13. 3 months ago I would have said a 6" Roboworm T Rigged or on a shakey head Today it would be a binder full of various Chatterbaits from a Flashback Mini to a Jack Hammer While the skunk will almost never stay on board with a Roboworm, these days I'm looking at catching the biggest LGM I can, and I feel besides huge swimbaits the Chatterbait gives me that ability.
  14. They look like those Maine Bass just lighter in color, he got into some of that Krazy Katie fishing ? Lol......that's what Katie said too. You'll be back, they always come back ?
  15. I have a thing where I won't weigh a fish if I think is under 5 for LGMs. I thought that looked like a 5lb fish. Congrats on the pig, 5lbs is a fantastic fish anywhere Bass swim. That's the size that gets me giddy like a kitty, and gives me that false sense of "yeah I'm a pro" feeling ?
  16. thanks friend! Way to go brother, beautiful fish! That's some seriously hot fishing. I wish you Yanks would weigh some of these fish, I have no context for length A 5lb Bass down here can be super short and fat, or longer and skinner. What do you think that 20" fish weighed? Seriously, this is like half the forum using Metric system, and the other half using Imperial lol
  17. Haha, and if I ever start catching Bass one after the other, I'll think of you ? Back to us mere mortals, I caught a couple Spots, and two quality LGMs. Both were short chunky fish, with the bigger going somewhere in the 3lb range. Absolutely inhaled a Jackhammer with a 4" Live Magic Shad. Both fish did, yet besides those two fish and the couple of Spots, it was a really tough outing. Biggest catch of the day was getting back my brand new Jackhammer that got stuck right before dark. I got this rigged up homemade lure knocker hook thingy that is working pretty good.
  18. Congrats to the Vols......I hear it was an epic game. I was fishing an empty lake, and occasionally would hear loud screams. I knew I'd have the lake to myself deep in Bama country. War Eagle ?
  19. Welp time to go fishing......I can't fathom how they gave this dude 22mil while Dansby is going to walk more than likely
  20. I'm turning a light shade of green with extreme envy Katie, absolutely incredible day you had! I think that's the best day I've seen you have, and that's saying something. Those Smallies, especially the first one is really beautiful!
  21. It's not so much that you need to wait, you just need some forgiveness or stretch in the equation in order to give the fish the extra milliseconds needed to get the bait fully in the mouth unlike a bait at rest. I don't have this problem with treble hooked moving baits, but single hooked ones was a really big problem for me until I recently realized I needed a certain amount of "forgiveness" in a rod tip to fish these baits for maximum hookup percentage. You catch like a 100 Bass each time out, I wouldn't sweat missing a few ?
  22. Depends on the time of year to some degree, and also just how prevalent baitfish are in your lake. Generally speaking, they will be densely located in an area of the lake, and within that sub section you'll find yourself chasing around the schools of baitfish. They never stay in same exact location but once you get on them, it's not hard to stay around them if that makes sense. Side Imaging really helps as well because the shad balls show up really well and expand the area you have to look for them. In my home lake, the threadfin will school up in balls that run 50 ft in length. You can't miss them when they get like that. I've learned a ton from @WRB on using your sonar to find the life zone, baitfish, etc. Maybe he can weigh in on all of this.
  23. Not a drop shot guy, but can provide pics showing the differences b/t balls of threadfins, Crappie schools, and then Bass diving into the bait First pic shows quality fish in red, and in green were smaller 1-2lb fish I was able to catch on that particular day. Second image shows quality Bass again with their bellies in the mud, and above them are two schools of Crappie blowing up 1-2" sized threadfins
  24. This is beyond embarrassing as an Auburn man. The entire program needs to be blown up. Urban Meyer is scummy, but we need a proven winner.
  25. As a sports better, 9 points is ridiculous. They should beat that into the TN player's heads......look at how you're being disrespected by Vegas
