  1. If surrounding lakes are clear and this one isn't and the discharge from the pipe is orange, the EPA or a similar agency should be notified.
  2. What I don't like about Google is if I'm searching for a product, Amazon floods the first page and more. I want more choices.
  3. All the events catch my interest. I used to be a casual runner doing 10K runs, so I can appreciate what the athletes are going though even though I was just a slow poke in comparison. Of course women's beach volleyball is quite "interesting" too.
  4. When I was kid the U.S. population was 1/2 of what it is now and continues to rise. All those people have to go somewhere in the country and do stuff which affects the environment, not only our lakes and rivers but everything. Think about all those extra toilet flushes for starters.
  5. It's not just the heat but the humidity too. I'm getting a little used to it after a couple of days. I've been avoiding fishing but will go today from the shore and in the shade and hope for a breeze.
  6. To prevent splintering you could put duct tape over the spot and drill through that.
  7. Let's not forget the Battle of Midway also in June on the 4th to the 7th of 1942. I worked with a guy a long time age who was on one of the carriers as a radioman. They were all scared he said. Who could blame them. It's a heroic undertaking now that it's over, but then the outcome was up in the air.
  8. The nearby state park lake I fish gets algae blooms in the summer and weekend warriors, so it's early season and weekday fishing for me.
  9. If you have a history of problem free operation with what youv'e been using, stick with it.
  10. Casting jigs over and over gets tiresome and I'm leaning more and more toward bobber and crawler for the river. I'll try hellgrammite and crayfish too. In the right place, you can let it drift into a hole that might have been tough to cast to.
  11. If you can drive into your garage with the kayak still sitting on top, you can have a set of 4 ropes hanging from the rafters with "S" hooks to hang the kayak in the garage upside down and just lower it for the next trip. That's what I did years ago with a 12' boat.
  12. I have a couple and they keep company with the other lures I seldom use although I should. I hear they work better with trebles attached though.😉
  13. The engine may have seized from the heat generated by all that un-lubed friction. Once it cooled and had the right oil and gas mix, the engine itself may have survived.
  14. Being retired, I don't drive much, so I let the dealer deal with all maintenance done once a year.
  15. When walking through the woods I use a walking stick to beat the brush before I pass through to get any ticks off their game. Every few yards, I stop and check myself out and then continue on.
  16. Any name brand sun screen is probably effective. Most effective is a long sleeve shirt and a hat with the broadest all around brim you can find. Cover up. Polarized sun glasses too to save your eyes,
  17. I found I did more boating than fishing when I had the boat.
  18. After high school I had no direction. I joined the Air Force and was trained in electronics. When I got out I got an AAS in electronics. Made a career as a technician and retired.
  19. I would never put my face on any website especially Face Book. How do you think they found and prosecuted all those January 6th demonstrators?
  20. Fishing with jigs in the river almost always included hooking up with some rock bass. Then there was worm fishing for suckers on a sunny bank in the spring. Muskies were introduced and rock bass and suckers I rarely see anymore. Flathead catfish are making their way here in the river too, and the outcome may not be good.
  21. I had a 150cc Kymco scooter and an old lady ran into me at an intersection and put me in a hospital for a week with a partially collapsed lung and 5 cracked ribs. I have since healed. I'm not trying to scare you from buying, but just reminding you to consider the safety aspect of a 2 wheeler.
  22. I have tried a plastic hellgrammite numerous times and have never gotten a bite. Maybe it's me. A real one won't last a minute in the water.
  23. They probably don't make them with an anti-reverse switch to save manufacturing costs and hope you won't notice until after you have lain your money down. I only use mine when I have played the fish up to where it's ready to be taken from the water. I fish with it off because sometimes a monster will grab the lure and run and the drag may not be right, so I'll be forced to back reel or have the line break.
  24. If they are giving them away and you get what you pay for....
