  1. Considering, the reel is in its first conception, you have to give this company credit. I mean, sure, it is a little cheesy, as far as parts go, but they are trying to keep us happy! lol I would like to see a special edition slyder, with better parts! come on pinnacle, hook it up!
  2. I haven't had a reel that didn't give me a bit of grief, and I have quite a few bait casters. My Shimano Calais is the least problematic, but I too, have had it over run a couple times. That includes today. All my reels had a couple backlashes, and my pinnacle did the best one, it was so bad, that I just put the cover back on it, and set it to the side, and continued fishing! lol Love the reel, but the wind did a number on me, today! If you ask me, no reel is any better at reducing the backlash, than the other. It's just a trained thumb, and a lot of practice at doing it. You will get to the point that you can cast, and not think about it anymore.
  3. I wouldn't set it to 10. Personally, I think it is better to make your thumb, "smarter". By this, I mean to make it so that your thumb will slowly apply pressure to the spool, requiring less tension with the magnets. Basically, what is happening, is that your magnets are slowing down the spool, which causes it to catch slightly, and slow it down. I am on setting 4, mostly because it's the only setting I can properly cast on. I find that anymore than that, and the spool wants to drag more than usual, and this is on any reel, and it causes me to gain more backlash. If you want to learn it, try putting a 1/4 oz weight onto the line, and cast it in your yard, until you make that thumb smarter, and you can handle the reel.
  4. You know what?! I am also very pleased with this company! My inertia finesse has been a great reel so far, and it is doing its job, and very well! I haven't had it out much, but I am very pleased with the quality thus far! I can't wait to catch me a hog, and post some pics with it! haha
  5. I have yet to hold the alyssa, or xlt visions, but from what I have seen on the website, they are both very small palmable reels. I have to say that they look no bigger than my bionic reel, and just as light, with more metal! lol I am so used to smaller reels, that it almost seems impossible for a great manufacturer to make anything huge anymore! I would assume the reasoning behind the larger capacity spool, would allow you to use a heavier line, with less issues. I.E. birds nests from too much line, or even too much over spool on the cast. I could be wrong, but that to me seems like the only viable answer. I am curious to hear what pinnacle1 says!
  6. I would love to switch all my reels to the alyssa reels! Those things look as good as any abu I have held, and maybe even some quantums. I just can't afford it, being a new dad, and just buying another car. lol I wish I could, after seeing that! They are amazing!
  7. It's new, like back in October, but thanks the same. I am loving every minute of it.
  8. I have to say, that this is far from amazing. The quality is unbelievable, and the customer support seems incredible! I have to say, as long as that continues, on into the future, we can bet that the pinnacle line of reels, will be the next abu garcia, for bass fishing.
  9. I would say that they probably couldn't get the handle to loosen, and come off... I have seen that, even with the highest priced units. lol
  10. I tested it out Sunday, and I am hooked. The reel was flawless, and didn't even have the slightest issue. I do plan on replacing the bearings with some ceramic, or ACBs. Mostly because the ones that are in the unit, feel kind of like mush. And I plan on fishing it as much as my shimanos, and BPS, and quantums. I do fish hard, and I fish fast, so I hope it can keep up with my style of power fishing. Even when I finesse fish, I am power fishing. Sounds kind f repugnant, but it's true, and that's a story for another time... Is there anything else I can do, other than bearings, to upgrade the feel of the retrieve, or even the drag? I have noticed that the drag is pretty inconsistent, to other reels. I had casted it a couple times, and noticed that it would slip, but others it wouldn't. Mind you, that I had the drag set tight, the whole time. Is that normal? I would assume no, considering that it's a brand new reel, and the drag was set loose, out of the box. I am in the works, for making a new handle out of carbon fiber, mostly because I like to tinker, and it would be better than the stock handle... That thing weighs a ton! lol
  11. Even if there is a response, I am pretty sure, it would be out of his contractual obligation to let us in, on a future line of reel. That being said, I am sure they are going to be aluminum, and light. If they make a cranking reel with a flipping switch, it would go outside of their boundaries as a cranking reel. That just wouldn't make any sense. But a flipping model reel, also would be nice.
  12. I have heard that pfleuger, daiwa, and pinnacle have done the reels for BPS, and or cabelas. If you don't already know, cabelas and BPS are basically the same store, except for the fact that cabelas does more hunting than fishing, and that BPS does more fishing than hunting. Each store is respectively set up the same. Johnny Morris just started BPS at some point, and decided fishing needed it's own super chain of stores. But back to the reels, there have been so many manufacturers for any retail store, that there is almost no way of telling who was outsourced, unless there is a source who could contractually say so. All the companies mentioned have been making great reels for a while. And all are pretty quality, just a name, and what is in a name?
  13. I also, would be interested to see this cranking reel. I am using a 6.2:1 high speed bionic reel for my deep cranking, but it's just too much for shallow and medium cranks, most of the time. I am becoming a big fan of pinnacle, every single day! Keep it up!
  14. The inertia is a great reel for this situation. I have been thinking about getting some braid, as it is lighter, and using it for some pan fishing, also. I think the 8lb diameter would be perfect for this situation. It's lighter, and will be able to allow you to cast these lighter lures.
  15. I believe my brother in law has one, and it's reversible?
  16. Yeah, I was thinking the same. It seems as though the reel is a pretty quality design, and I can't even feel flex in the frame, as I have with other companies "graphite" reinforced frames. It almost seems as though, this reel, is well worth the cash, and even though parts are cheaply made, that it would still make for a decent finesse reel. I don't think I will have any issues with the reel, and will be able to enjoy it to it's full extent on the G-loomis I have it paired with. I am looking at some better gears from another model of reel, that are the same size, and such. I might just go for it, and put them in.
  17. My wife just bought one the other day for me, thursday, my birthday, and paid like 25 bucks. It seems to be a pretty decent reel, except for the fact that it has a graphite frame. I have no problems with it being graphite, just hear a lot of guff about graphite being fragile. I have owned many graphite reels, and this is so far, the best. Any other opinions? I would like to hear horror stories, or even stories where you caught a lunker on it, and still use it! Thanks guys! P.S. I own everything from shimano calais cl200a, bass pro shops bionic, and quantum spinning reels for finesse fishing, and wormin'. And the poles I use are anything from g-loomis, to shakespeare. So I have a wide variety of rods and reels. Just looking for input on the quality of the reel. I love it because my wife bought it for me!
  18. Not much in the way for tuning for a citica... Now, if you had anything more expensive, you could get a carbon fiber handle, MG spool, and bearings. I think the only thing you can do on the citica is to change out the bearings?
  19. I just re-read the question, and it seems I was reading it wrong. As BobP said, the only really easy way to get it off, is to cut it with a rotary tool. It can be done other ways, but it's not recommended that you try to boil the blank, as that could/would cause the materials to weaken. Just use a dremel, or some kind of rotary tool, split it in the center, and remove. Clean up the blank with a razor, and re-build it!
  20. Hey flech, to the untrained eye, I am sure they wouldn't notice. To the perfectionist, they might. I can barely tell, but I am one of those perfectionists, that would look at it and notice it, but not say a thing about it. It doesn't affect the fishability of the rod, so it really won't matter... It still looks great, and I don't think I could have gotten it that straight!
  21. I personally start on an edge of a plexi sheet, and use a hack saw, or my band saw, or even a dremel, then file up the edges. I do this because it is just quicker, and after some practice, they come out nice. Another thing you can do, after you cut it all out, is to flame the edges, to get a clear look.
  22. Ok, back to the original poster. You have quite a resume, and you seem to be on the right track. I am 26, and have been working on sponsorships for a while. I don't have quite the resume you have, though. All I can say, is just hone those skills, keep up your grades, and go to college, just as a back up. Things don't always work out, and some of the best tournament fisherman, are actually business men during the week. Everything on your resume is quite impressive though, and you have fished in quite a few tournaments, it looks like. Turn some of those 2nd and 3rd places into 1st, and in no time, you will be looked at. Plus being able to drive, and haul your boat to the water, does help... haha But beings that you are 13, you have some time to work on that. It's good to see younger people trying to get into the industry, no matter where they come from! Keep it up, kid!
  23. The only thing I have been able to do, is to cut the grip off as best as possible, and heat up the remaining epoxy to make it flake off, using a small torch, and small short sweeps across the area. It takes a while, but using some kind of putty knife, or something like a plastic butter knife works best. Good luck!
  24. Embroidery hoop works the best... I like to use the hoop on a bench, put the bait under it, then c-clamps to hold it to the bench, and it keeps the bait nice and stable.
  25. That is an amazing rod! Great job! I really like how the copper sets off the handle, it works perfectly with the grips!
