  2. The Coleman Crawdad was produced and marketed by The Coleman Company from 1982 till 2000 when the rights to all designs and Coleman's proprietary Ram-X plastic was sold to Pelican. All the Crawdads were a single hull design produced by thermal pressure molding. When Pelican acquired the rights, they re-designed it to accommodate roto-molding manufacturing techniques, and the result was the Pelican Intruder. The Crawdad was/is rated for 5hp, but I have seen larger motors used with no problems. (Mine has a 4.5hp 2-stroke on it) It's also rated for a 400 lb capacity, but there is an advertisement that displays one with 1500 lbs of cinder blocks in it, and it still draws less than 6" of draft. They are Excellent little budget fishing boats that have a strong following, and are actually quite stable as long as you don't mess with its center of gravity by trying to install elevated decks and pedestal seats.
