  1. Hey Guys - I haven't been fishing as much as I use to and I'm starting to thin out some rods and tackle. Got a few rods I'd like to try and sell local, so I don't have to ship. Let me know if you are interested. All rods are in great shape! Daiwa Zillion TDZL 701 MHFB 7' MH - $140 Dobyns 805CBRM - $140 G Loomis Mossyback BCR 874 - $175 I'm in Olathe...
  2. Anyone out last weekend? I hit up Melvern for the first time in a couple months. Fishing was slow to see the least. Caught one good smallmouth shallow on a secondary point and another decent one off the dam, but other then a few other dinks and whites fishing was slow. There was a lot more fisherman then I've seen at one time there on Saturday. Anyone else there on Saturday? Not sure if the fish are going deeper now or if it was just a bad day to be out... Water temp was 56-58. Anyone planning on going out there next weekend?
  3. Thanks for posting that, I was wondering if that ramp was closed. Thinking about heading out there this weekend and always launch from there.
  4. Hey MN folks - Heading to Whitfish Chain this evening from Kansas City. We are staying on Dragget Lake. Mainly just hanging out with family, but will take the pontoon out to get a little fishing in during our time up there? Anyone have any tips or tricks they'd share? -Bryan
  5. Anyone been on Perry lately? Fished it on 4/20 and couldn't get a bite anywhere... Not sure if the weather put them in a funk or what...
  6. Thinking I might be able to make this after all... What time and ramp are we using? Anyone looking for a boater or non?
  7. Good question. I've been looking/ thinking about doing a little more TX stuff, but just can't find anything to get too excited about. There is the BFL, BASS Weekend Series for draw styles... also the Central Pro-am is coming back stronger this year with a 2 day Draw format. Did the Mid State Series on Smithville a few years ago... it was a draw format, but you fished as a team. Wish there was something like that again....on better lakes, ha!
  8. I got a deep cranking set up this year too. Haven't used it too much yet either. Are there any good deep cranking lakes around here? Seems like everyone I talk to about bassin around KS doesn't think you need to spend much time fishing any deeper than 10 ft...
  9. I'm just messing with you. If I find it, it won't cost you a thing!
  10. You'll have to pay a little more then just shipping if I find it this weekend... ha!
  11. Awesome! Don't worry you can PM me your secret as I'm taking a year off from Wyco! I'm not going to be able to make the Melvern gathering on June 10th, thought I had a weekend all to myself, but the wife's plans changed. Sure would like to meet up with you guys someday though...
  12. So awhile back there was talk of a get together. Anyone what to get something going the weekend of June 8-10? Perry, Milford, Melvern? Tent camp or look into getting a cabin of some sorts?
  13. You might look into one of the local clubs. Most fish a few tournaments in KS and then get to the good lakes in MO and even Grand Lake in OK. It's a good way to meet others and fish new lakes.
  14. Retro - I was throwing a Rapala DT10, which doesn't have rattles. I did throw a silent square bill for a bit, but no takers on it. I only caught a couple bass on the crank, so I'm sure something else would have worked better, but I was just trying to cover water and take a look at the lake. For those that fish the marina areas, do you actually fish the stalls or do you concentrate on the rip rap more? Anyone planning on going to Perry this coming Saturday? I'm thinking about it, but not sure yet...
  15. Finally made it to Perry on Saturday. Nice lake with lots of rock! Didn't catch a lot of bass, but the ones I did catch seemed really healthy. Hooked into a 5lb+ first thing in the morning on a DT10, but she jumped off before she was suppose to! Mainly just covered water with a crankbait today. Caught lots of saugeye, 1 catfish, many whites/hybrids, too many drum, foul hooked a carp, and even one 15" smallie! Biggest bass came around the old docks in Rock Creek - 17.5" LM. Fun day and look forward to going again.
  16. Hate to hear that it's that muddy. Is the main lake that way or just the creek arms? Planning on going to Perry for the first time on Saturday.
  17. Man you all have been wacking them bass! Thinking about heading to Melvern on Saturday to chase some green fish. Anyone been doing any good lately?
  18. I'd like to add another question to this... What weights are you all using? I'm thinking about using a cylinder style drop shot weight... anyone found something better to use?
  19. Which size do you all prefer or do you need to have all sizes?
  20. Having a get together sounds like fun. I'd vote for either Melvern or Perry (assuming Perry would have a cabin or camping available). I'd also like to hit the Pitt Strips someday too. I'll have an open seat if someone needs someone to go with.
  21. Chris - Are you asking about white bass? If so, I normally just cast to them. Spinnerbaits, cranks, lipless cranks, jerkbaits, spoons... I guess I could go on and on, but they pretty much eat anything that moves, ha! For me right now, any wind blown bank is a possible white bass zone. If you catch one, there should be some more in the area. If you don't get hit in a few cast there probably isn't any in at that location. I'm no expert with them, just happen to run into them from time to time looking for black bass. I'm sure others will have some better tips for you...
  22. Made it out to Melvern on Sunday 11/13. Water temp was low 50's. Caught several decent largemouth on a spinnerbait, but for the most part the white bass kept me busy most the day. They are really grouped up. Ended up fishing the dam area in the afternoon. The whites had totally taken control of the 0-6ft dept on the dam. Caught them dang near the whole length of the dam on a jerkbait. Skunk, what dept did you catch your smallies on the grub? Bluebasser - did you take a pic of your 5lber for the marina at Melvern. Some guys trolling the dam told me an older guy caught a 5lber a couple weeks ago and the pic was at the marina... i know you aren't too old, so guess someone else caught a nice one too.
  23. Looks like the wind is going to be little to high for me on Saturday, planning to go Sunday now... Anyone have any suggestions on how deep or shallow to look for smallmouth this time of year?
  24. Everyone still fishing? Last weekend only got out Sunday afternoon at Gardner and seemed the fishing really slowed down from the previous week. Still got some, but not the numbers or size. Not sure if it was that the weather broke from windy/cloudy to bright and calm or not. Surface temp was 54-56. Planning to hit Melvern on Saturday. Anyone got any tips? Looking to catch some smallies. Looks like it is going to be a little windy, so might not be able to fish everywhere I'd like to, but might group those whites up on the windy spots... Anyone else going to be out there this weekend?
  25. Nice smallie! That's the biggest belly I've seen on any fish out there! I was at Melvern on Saturday and the smallie action was pretty slow. Sure would like to catch one like that some day!
