  1. I know it’s not a technique but number one and two are super important for a reason 1. Time on the water 2. Boat control 3. Wacky rig 4. Drop shot 5. Flipping/pitching/skipping
  2. This is true because I had a sweet deal going on right now since our kids are older. Now we have a third on the way…
  3. The short answer is yes. The reason I say yes is because I have thousands of hours of experience on the water and I can recognize things going on around me. As a new angler you don’t have the ability to make intuitive decisions. They might make those decisions but they do not have the experience to know if it works or not
  4. Any update to report? I was on lake Ann a couple years ago on a fishing trip in the area. It was pre-spawn and we saw an insane amount of 4-6lb smallmouth cruising shallow but wouldn’t bite. I’ve been dreaming if going back to chase those big smallmouth ever since
  5. Interesting idea and you can definitely see a pattern as far as lure choice/color. However just the type of lure tells you very little about how the fish was caught. The guy that got first and the guy that got last could both be using a green pumpkin jig but the difference could be the first place guy was dragging a 3/4oz football jig in 20’ of water while the last place guy was using a 1/4oz swim jig in 5’ of water
  6. Hey guys! A local lake near me that I fish often has a healthy population of landlocked alewives. The bass grow fat and it’s a great fishery all around however I’m having one heck of a struggle trying to catch the bass that are feeding on these schooling baitfish. I catch plenty of 1-2lb fish in the shallows but I’ll often see explosions of much larger fish offshore blowing up on bait. I haven’t had any luck targeting these particular fish. For one, the school of bait is constantly moving and my electronics aren’t the best. Another being that the bait just wanders around the lake seemly void of direction. They’ll be suspending over 50+ feet of water sometimes but I’ll find them in 10-15’ on the same day too. Any tips for chasing down these bass chasing schools offshore like this? Thanks in advance!
