  1. After reading all the replies and help on this thread I’ve decided to keep the mix I have. I got some good suggestions on things I can do with my current lineup, especially the Falcons. Kind of reinforced what I already had in mind for them. Still have the problem of adding one more rod to the arsenal for my extra Tatula SV. That falcon finesse jig looks good. Also thinking about a Dobyns Champion 734 just because. Not sure I really need anything. Maybe I just sell one of my cheaper reels I currently have and put the SV on that rod. One thing I do want to do is replace my Dobyns 765Flip with a pitchin stick in the 7’ to 7’3” range. 7’6” is too long for me.
  2. Great answer. Thank you. My finesse jigs are 3/8 oz Dirty Jig Luke clausen, and I put a creature trailer. chatterbaits are always 3/8 oz jackhammers with magic Shad or zako trailer.
  3. That’s a good point and I love my Falcons, I just get a real good deal on Dobyns. What targeted additions would you recommend to finish It out?
  4. Only 3/8 on a rod rated for 1oz?
  5. I believe you because experience trumps all, but I wonder why Dobyns lists the 683 as a t-rig rod, 734 as jig rod, and 735 goes all the way into the pitch/flip category? FYI, if I’m casting Texas rigs, which I don’t do super often, I’m using max 1/2oz tungsten or less. More often than not I’m pitching with my Sierra 765c.
  6. Can anyone link to the JDM zillion please? I’d like to grab one but only see the 20 on digitaka.
  7. Sorry for the late reply. The forum told me I reached my max limit of posts yesterday? I only had like 10. Is there a way to fix this? WRB the rod is more what I meant. Love that reel! Plus I spent a dang fortune on It. Lol I looked at the Kaden series but didn’t appear there is a 734 in It. WRB, what techniques would you use for each of the rods you listed?
  8. When you do this are you letting line out as It gets deeper?
  9. Would 734 be good for smaller swimbaits 1/2 to 1 oz? Could It t-rig also?
  10. Wife fished a two day tournament with me yesterday and today. She stayed frustrated trying to use my good gear. Backlashes, not feeling bites with worms etc, wind knots with Braid, etc. You name It. She said more than once to just give her a d**n rooster tail, which I didn’t have. So we got home today and I went straight to academy and came back with a new ML spinning setup, 8lb mono, and a bunch of 1/8-1/4oz rooster tails, 1/8 oz spinnerbaits, and a few light bandit square hills. Said here you go girl, have at It next time. She’ll probably out fish me.
  11. Some like a glass rod for Chatterbait but not I. I lost a lot of fish on a medium glass rod that was recommended. I now use the St Croix mojo bass spinner bait model which is a MH MF I think. 50lb Braid. 6.8:1 gear ratio. I love It.
  12. 1. Weightless t-rigged senko. Kind of a go to for me if there’s little wind. 2. Weightless fluke 3. Wacky zoom finesse or trick worm with nail weight (for suspended fish around docks and such) 4. T-rigged 1/2 oz tungsten Zoom ol monster or UV speedworm 5. T-rigged 1/2-3/4 oz tungsten creature bait (take your pick) 6. Drop shot with roboworm I could catch fish here year round with that lineup.
  13. Except my Team Lews. Really like It.
  14. I prefer all Daiwa also lol
  15. Thank you. I figured that was It but when I click It I get report or share. Oh well.
  16. Thanks guys. With the rods you both listed would y’all be comfortable throwing the main techniques I listed?
  17. I have gotten so carried away (for me) with the amount of rods I have, that in my latest tournament it was like a puzzle game in my head trying to figure out and revenge what I wanted to throw on on what rod. Or I try to have one of every thing tied on and I’ll have 17 rods on deck. I need an intervention and want to go mostly Dobyns (I’ll keep my crank bait and jerk bait setups). The majority of the baits I throw are these (besides cranks and jerkbaits): Drop shot Ned rig Weightless Fluke Weightless senko Spinnerbait Chatterbait (probably more than anything) Swim jig T-rig (3/16 - 1 oz) (creature and big worms) Dirty jig finesse jigs Small swimbaits (underspins, jig heads, 3-4” Keitech types) That’s really about It for the most part. As you’ll see I have rods for all kinds of other things. This is what I currently own. I keep a list. I also have another Tatula SV limited 7.1 at the house without a current rod. So, what would you do to simplify what I have to all Dobyns to cover everything I throw. I appreciate the help. I’ll be fishing tomorrow but will respond later in the day when I get off the water. -Chris Sorry I can’t figure out how to edit. My phone made some autocorrects and I’m not sure some of that is readable (ie revenge???) lol
