  1. Put 40lb braid on this one: Daiwa Aird X Med/Hvy 7’+ Daiwa CA80 6.8 - Jerkbait and use It for toads, buzzbaits, and spooks. Then get you a medium rod for jerkbaits. Then get a spinning setup for drop shot/wacky/Ned.
  2. Lots of craws in this thread that I didn’t know existed.
  3. I reach into a gallon zip lock bag where I’ve poured all my creature baits. Whatever I pull out goes on. I catch fish.
  4. Never and won’t. Completely unnecessary.
  5. yes sight fishing is different but you are throwing at fish you can see. And I fish shallow all the time. The point is, and I see buddies do this often, is if I can see bottom and there’s no fish, why am I throwing the bait there over and over?
  6. I don’t think a regular hook is going to help the bass not swallow the bait. That’s on you.
  7. Not absolutes, and I’ve never targeted smallmouth in my life so may not apply to them: Don’t fish shallower than you can see the bottom. Big girls ambush Senkos work
  8. If I were going to change, I’d spend the $90 each, then sell the new rods. Lol Or if you decide not to do the replacement, let me know and I’ll pay $150 to take the logo blanks off your hands. ?
  9. Well I lied. Asked my daughter to grab the line for me. Stripped the 12lb fc off, started putting the big game on and thought dang, this 8lb big game is larger diameter than the 12lb fc. Finished It up and looked at the spool as I put It away. 12lb big game. Ill run with It for a while cuz I’m too lazy to pull It back off.
  10. Hmmm ok. You’re the only person I’ve ever heard say that fc won’t get you deeper than equivalent diameter mono.
  11. Dobyns replacement policy is like $50-$100 I think. Be cheaper to do that if you like the rods.
  12. Sounds like trial and error that I don’t have time for. 8 It is.
  13. I use Daiwa Aird-X M ($50) or H2O tac40 ML ($80). Works for me.
  14. I thought I had some 10 big game but I have 12 and 8. Which one? Not sure. Just always read on the forums to use fluoro since It sinks.
  15. Ok cool. 12 lb red label fc is what’s on It now. But my son and wife use my stuff and once they backlash It a few times it’s getting kinks and breaking. Thought maybe mono would help with that and be a little more resilient. Was thinking 10 to still try and get the depth being that mono floats. I have some 12 big game I’ll use if It works though. 10?
  16. I know it’s not ideal but does anyone use 8 or 10 lb mono for deep cranking?
  17. Anyone fished a fantasista next to a Megabass destroyer?
  18. I’m really used to heavy and extra heavy rods (amistad, Dobyns flip rods, etc). Maybe I just need to get used to It. And not cast as far.
  19. I’m thinking I may need to sell It and get something with more bacbckbone. Here’s what I bought It for: Senkos, fluke/caffeine shad w/ 3/32 screwlock, underspin, dark sleeper, Sleeper gill Every one of those I think needs more rod.
  20. Maybe not. This thing paired with the zillion will cast a long long way. They were really long hooksets.
  21. I’ve fished this rod twice now. Specifically with 3/32nd 4/0 twistlock lite hooks and Caffeine Shads. Using 14lb fc sniper bms. The rod just does not seem to have the back bone I need to drive the hook home. Lost two 2 lbers today. Anyone else have experience with this rod and feel the same way or is It just me?
  22. Thank you sir. And I’m glad you take that kiddo. Hurts my heart a little. This is a bass club but I don’t care to fish with anyone but my son. He’s learning and having fun and one of these days we will win one together.
