  1. I’ve had Lews and liked them well enough. Just sold a Hyper Mag and ordered a Zillion. Just like them better. Personal preference.
  2. I think I poorly portrayed myself in this entire, obviously joke, overly exaggerated, thread. In no way have a spent months and thousands of backlashes just dumbly casting this reel. It’s a technique specific setup, as all of mine are. I had probably casted It 10 times in the yard with backlashes but didn’t care enough to mess with It at the time. Usually get on the water and jack with the spool tension and external brake setting to get It right and go from there. I finally wanted to use the technique it’s for the other night and after 5 backlashes in a row no matter what I changed externally, I thought, you know what, I bet this thing has internal brakes. 5 minutes later I was up and running. Despite what you ask may think, I’m actually not an idiot, i do know what internal brakes are, and once I cared enough to check if that was my problem, It was taken care of easily. Again, this is why I like my daiwas. Always been able to cast any lure, right out of the box from my fuegos to my zillion. I definitely don’t prefer opening the reel up on the water to mess with internal brakes.
  3. I know what I bought. Revo Ike obviously lol
  4. That’s the dumbest thing I’ve heard. I didn’t say I don’t know how to press the button on the reel, which may be comparable. I know how to drive a car, but I don’t know how to tune It if it’s not driving right. Why is this a big problem for you?
  5. I did this with a full spool of 8lb fluoro once. I didn’t like It. Hard to manage. Went back to Braid and fc leader. I imagine mono backing would have helped as well.
  6. The largo Shads are legit. This is what I rig mine on. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/VMC_Hybrid_Swimbait_Jig/descpage-VHSJ.html
  7. It’s a wonder how I’ve made It 25 years not caring. At the end of the day do they not all work once you figure them out?
  8. Forum reviews, gear ratio I want, line capacity for the technique I plan to use, and what looks good to me. Because life is too short to use ugly equipment. I have 10 friends I regularly fish buddy tournaments. I promise not one of them chooses a reel based on preferred braking system lol. It’s like on hunting forums. You always have the gear heads that act like you have to know ffp vs sfp, bullet velocity, spend hours calculating bullet drop on range, etc. when in reality, the vast majority of shooters buy a 30-06 or 270 and a regular 3-9 scope, sight It in 1” high at a hundred, and go hunt.

  10. Alton Jones Jr method?
  11. I don’t topwater fish a lot so I didn’t go high end. But I did buy a Dobyns Maverick 734c for spoons and buzzbaits. Works fine. I also bought a jerkbait rod that doubles as a light topwater rod. I use It for small poppers. Tatula Elite ML Seth Feider.
  12. I think what you meant to say is that YOU personally like to know what kind of brakes are on a reel before you buy It. I’ve never cared at all until this reel, and guess what…I figured It out. I guarantee you the overwhelming majority of regular ole fisherman don’t care about that sort of thing either. They buy a reel and fish. And those brakes were 100% locked in place on my reel. I had to physically pop them out for them to free swing. I’ve never done that. Does this make me a worse person than you? I think some of you need to understand that some people are mechanically minded. They understand machines, like to work on their own stuff be It vehicles, reels, etc., and like to take things apart and tinker. Others, like me, are not and are totally fine buying something and never worrying about the hows and whys of It. I just sent a bag of pieces of a reel to bulldog on this forum because once I took It apart, I was like what have I done, and couldn’t get It back together. That’s just the way some people are. On the flip side, I have my strengths that most of you don’t. Any way, that’s all I’ll say. Some of you have taken a joke post and turned In to telling me how I should act with my own stuff that I paid my money for.
  13. I use the Daiwa Tatula 150p 5.5 gear. Works great for me.
  14. Guess it’s time to add the xtreme 702 to my list. Next rod will be the Sierra 734c for my son's birthday.
  15. To be fair I have like 20 combos and wasn’t using this one a lot. Not like this was my only setup and I’ve just been dealing with backlashes for months.
  16. See, I’m not the only one. And I doubt casts dad is an idiot so I feel much better lol. I bought a curado at academy a while back. 150 mgl. They had It priced at $150 and I didn’t know any better. Got to the register and they caught that It accidentally had the SLX price on It. They still honored It at that price. Got It home and since It didn’t have the big dial on the left side I actually did read the directions on It. When I saw I needed to adjust brakes by trial and error internally I took It back lol. That experience is what made me finally think maybe the Abu had them also.
  17. That I’m the only idiot? Lmao
  18. I just like to own reels. Never been one to get deep into the mechanics of things. Reels or anything else.
  19. I’m down to one reel that’s not a Daiwa. It’s an Abu Revo Ike. It’s gimmicky but I actually love the chameleon look to It. However, until the other night, I literally could not cast anything with any amount of oomph at all without backlashing. Even on max brake setting. Even with the spool tension pretty tight. Finally popped the side plate off and I didn’t know there was internal brakes. They were all disengaged. I adjusted those and finally, after months of owning the reel, was able to smoothly cast this thing. This is why I love my Daiwas. I’ve never had a problem casting any of them right out of the box.
  20. It’s done. Although I don’t think PayPal exchange rates matches what was shown on digitaka. Still a good deal though. Zillion HD 300m fc sniper 150m defier armilo Digitaka price $350 PayPal price $386 ?‍♂️ Dang It. 3 minutes too late. Next time for sure
  21. I’m really sorry. Lol seriously, I’m not being rude. That sucks.
