  1. In 2022: Texas Rig - hundreds of fish Carolina Rig - dozens with second biggest fish of the year Jig - two fish in November In 2023: Carolina Rig - dozens so far Texas Rig - handful so far Jig - 1 fish on a swim jig (this after getting super excited about jig fishing after November and buying probably 50 jigs (3/8oz Luke clausen finesse, dirty jig pitching in multiple sizes, dirty jig swim jigs in multiple sizes, and Bitsy bug tiny jigs). Not even sure if the swim jig fish counts for this thread. She probably would have hit a chatterbait or spinnerbait too. Fyi the c-rig and t-rig numbers for 2023 are about to go crazy as It gets hotter. Mostly fish these in the summer. Btw, if a weightless “Texas-rigged” (weedless rigged) senko counts as Texas-rig then hundreds of those in 2023 also. It’s almost all I’ve fished for 3 months.
  2. 90% of today I had a weightless senko and a Carolina rig senko on deck. Same color. If they didn’t bite that, I didn’t waste time on them.
  3. That’s what I would do.
  4. Anyone thrown this bait? How did It glide for you? I bought two and tried one today. It would only glide one direction. On one half turn of the reel It would glide right, on the next It would go straight. No back and forth at all.
  5. I would go with the 7’2” and if it’s hot and sunny docks could be the ticket. Some of those slips are in extremely deep water on Texoma though and the magdraft runs pretty shallow.
  6. I’ve never pointed the rod at any bait in reeling in.
  7. Destroyed It. Wth? $15 a fish won’t work for me!
  8. Son and I had a great tournament today. Unfortunately my bass club is not teams so we were competition. Three fish Limit club. I won heavy stringer with 10.59 and big bass with 5.18. My son brought in 5.5 lb stringer! Second place had 10.56 and weighed in last. Close call!!
  9. My son just caught this off the bank with the hellraizer
  10. Tournament tomorrow! Tonight’s humble accommodations.
  11. Why in gods name would you buy a $250+ loomis rod with nice cork and shrink wrap It? I u40 all of mine. Extremely easy. I dip a rag in, coat cork, wipe excess, stand in corner for 24 hours.
  12. 1. My cheapest setup is $300 up to $600, so yeah I don’t buy into just abusing them because I’m hardcore. 2. It takes about 4 seconds per rod so not really a hassle. 3. Rod socks are cheap. Majority of my setups have neoprene or original Rod Sox which were about $7. 4. and most importantly, when you have 20 rods in a rod box, those socks keep guided from catching on each other, makes them easily slide in and out of the rod dividers without catching a guide, and keeps your rods from tangling up. I mean, you do you and if you don’t like them, no biggie. But I’ve been fishing a long time and my rods have never magically scuffed while in my hands.
  13. Flip flops bare foot brooks running shoes cabelas winter boots
  14. Cranking- 10-12 lb red label fc (15lb for squarebills) chatterbait/swimjig: 50lb 832 braid OR 15-20lb fc (currently using 17lb pline) bottom contact: 20lb sniper or invisx spinnerbait: 17lb armilo defier a-rig: 20-25lb armilo defier I can’t wrap my head around using light line. Even my drop shot rig is 12fc leader. I know I never have to worry about my line when I hook a fish.
  15. I’ve used red label, invisx, sniper, p-line, and sunline bms and have zero issues with any of them. The only one I didn’t like was the basix.
  16. To me they are a good all around work horse reel. I have one on a perfect pitch I use for magdrafts, one on a falcon expert all around I use for chatterbaits and cranks, have one on a Dobyns 734c for spooks and buzz baits, and one on a Dobyns 804c for Carolina rigs.
  17. Had one in order with that deal. Ended up canceling after handling one in person before mine came in. Ordered the pitch and flip. Much more my style.
  18. Do what you want and what the fish want. I want my glide to go one way, pause, and go the other way. There’s no rules here.
  19. Wife and I went out today for a few hours. She caught six, I caught 3. Big was her personal best. Just shy of 5 pounds. The non-fish picture is at a place called hell’s gate.
