  1. I skunked out yesterday at the pond. Not too unusual as I think the fish are boycotting me again. If the sunken structure would boycott my lures that would be great.
  2. Just got an email from TW about their Daiwa Procyon Spinning Rod 7' Light being back in stock for those wanting one. $79.99 w/ free shipping. I’m kinda ‘rod poor’ so figured to pass it on. ?
  3. Thanks Alex! She’s been fishing since she could hold a rod. Pretty good at it too. Hands are feeling much better. Still have some more healing to do but it’s getting there. Sorry to hear about the TM crapping out. Bad timing I’m sure.
  4. Went out to the pond this afternoon after spooling up some 8# Seaguar BasiX fluoro on one of my BC rigs and managed to catch 2 decent fish in the few hours I was out there. Bass were blowing up the pond in several spots chasing baitfish so I was pretty stoked with anticipation. Nice day with blue skies albeit a tad cool with the breeze but I was determined to give fluoro a try on a bait caster. Didn’t work out so well on my spinning gear. I was skunking out until my daughter came out to see how I was doing. We moved to a different spot and she sees the water exploding off to the right side of the pier. I cast out with a weighted paddle tail and snagged the first fish almost immediately. It weighed maybe a pound/pound and a half. I was so stunned at catching it that I got my hand wrapped around the line and had a time of it freeing it up. ? Of course she videoed me ranting and trying to free my hand while getting my grippers on the fish. She thought it was funny. I set her up with another rig with the same paddle tail and she went at it for a while until I switched to a whopper plopper 90 to work the bank by a downed tree. Right as it passed over the tree a biggun blew up on it. To say I was startled would be an understatement as I’ve not caught anything in a while with a top water. My daughter wanted to try it next and had a blast with it. She didn’t catch anything but enjoyed working it down the bank. I may have her addicted to top water fishing now. ? Fish #2 weighed in at 3.10 and was a beauty! Managed to dig my scale out for it. I’m sure glad my hands are almost healed up. Not sure I could hold out much longer. ?
  5. Congratulations! Awesome news!
  6. Welcome to BR Pat! This is the way!
  7. 66 here and it ain’t much better. ? Ooooh! Been there before. That’s the closest man will ever get to experiencing childbirth! ?
  8. Started wearing glasses in my early twenties. Been wearing them ever since. Went to ‘occupational’ glasses where you have 3 parts when I was at the paper in the maintenance department. Basically a bifocal but with the lower reader lens at the top too for working overhead like @Woody B mentioned. For everyday use I wear progressive lenses. They’ve come a long way with the panoramic versions.
  9. Between my old eyes and fumbling fingers I wouldn’t try to strip one down completely. Basic lube and grease is it unless a symptom needs addressing. This is coming from someone who regularly worked on servers and computers previously. If there’s something that needs more than the basics I’ll get with a professional like @Delaware Valley Tackle
  10. The ones I use are Eagle Claw Lazer Sharp Finesse EWG Jig heads. You can text-pose the hook to prevent snags and they work well dragging and popping across rocky bottoms. Eagle Claw EWG Ned Jigs
  11. Surprised that hasn’t happened yet.
  12. We’re having a ‘weather alert’ day here with rain and possible tornados. Feels like May/June outside. Crazy compared to what the northern states are getting now. Edit: Just got another tornado watch so today may be interesting after all.
  13. Good looking fish man! Congrats!
  14. Yeah, kinda wishing the doc used superglue instead of stitches. You know, hindsight being 20-20 and all. ? ? And today is another beautiful one with temps in the upper 60s to lower 70s. /sigh
  15. I went down to the pond this morning after seeing bass chasing baitfish all over the place. Gloved up to protect the stitches and tossed some Yo-Zuri 3DB jerkbaits and some 3DRs. Man these puppies will float where ya leave ‘em. Twitch and pause, twitch and pause. Got some bumps, nudges and interest but no solid bites. Had to call it after an hour when I checked my right hand and saw I’d busted a stitch or two. ?? It looked kinda rough. Guess they’re gonna need a tad longer, eh? ?
  16. Think you need more Rage Tails! ?
  17. I would have loved to have been one of your students! Something tells me I’d have learned a lot more in your classroom ? With the size fish you’re catching now Alex the new boat is gonna need to be longer! A lot longer! ?
  18. I get a text from Alex and when I opened it I see this huge fish with the words “Just caught a 7.2. Unreal”. I look down at my Frankenstein hands with all the stitches in them and slowly typed out the words: “You Suck!” ? We texted back and forth for a bit with him showing me various images of the Garmin, Lake and boat and I got real tempted to go down to the pond. Stitches be darned. Seriously Alex, @AlabamaSpothunter: Congratulations on that pig! Great job and awesome commentary. I’d also like to thank you for no ads at the beginning of your videos. ? You’re an inspiration sir!
  19. My wife has sleep apnea (recently diagnosed) and now sleeps with a CPAP machine. Before she could wake the dead with her snoring. She’s 5’ 10” and loves to snuggle up to me at night. I’m positive it’s to kickstart her nuclear reactor so she can work on melting me and the bed. ?
  20. I’d have to say right where I am. Maybe an hour or so away from Lake Guntersville and even less from Neely Henry. I’m retired and can’t beat the weather here in Central Alabama. You get all four seasons in one week! If it should snow the state shuts down and plays hooky. ?
  21. Woah! Thank you! Hey Mike, @Siebert Outdoors will be emailing you shortly! ?
  22. SpiderWire DuraBraid 15# in Hi-Vis Yellow on a new Shimano Nexave 2500. Put it on my Daiwa AIRD-X Braiding-X 6'6" M spinning rod. Planning on using it for Ned-rigs, T-rigged soft plastics, etc. I’m liking the forecast! ?
  23. Managed to spool up some new line on a new reel hidden under the coal I got. Temps are looking good next week to try it out but stitches don’t come out until Dec.5th. ? Hoping it gets warmer by then or shortly after.
  24. Got some ice forming on the deep end of the pond here close to the bank. However, the lone duck and goose are still braving the extreme cold temps. Go figure. Hands are healing nicely but not to the point that I’ll try casting anytime soon. Maybe next week if the temps rise enough. In the meantime I’m working my fingers (PT) and helping my daughter troubleshoot some code in her husband’s business website. He’s a dentist so it needs to be sorted out asap. Aside from that working on getting some more of this weight off.
