  1. To offer a bit of clarity on my answers I fish our pond most of the time with occasional jaunts to Neely Henry or Inland lake. Lately though it’s been the pond due to some health issues. I also want to say I’ve stopped ringing the dinner bell too as they’ve tended to ignore that as well. I figure they’ve been hitting Zaxby’s or Mickey ‘D’s. ?
  2. Hmm, where to start. Spinner baits, buzz baits, frogs, worms (long ones), drop shot, Carolina rig, wake baits, glide baits…yep, that ought to cover it. May have caught one fish by accident on some of these and nada on the rest. My tackle bag is way lighter these days. ?
  3. See a lot of the same in Birmingham around many of the off ramps around town. One or two do it for a living while the rest either need a fix or food.
  4. Those are some nice looking fish!
  5. We do but we needed something a bit bigger ‘cough, cough(for rod/tackle storage) cough, cough’. ? I hear you on the rocket being torn down. The whole rest stop is in shambles now. ? The river is almost too enticing to pass by without wetting a line. To keep this reply ‘on-topic’ I present the dink I caught around 4:30 this afternoon. ? The little guy wanted that modified chatterbait bad!
  6. Haha! It’s on both sides of the state line just off I65N.
  7. This thread is busting me up laughing. ? We drove over the Tennessee river Monday on our way to see/buy our new camper and I was overwhelmed with the urge to go fish it. Beautiful body of water. I almost traded paint with another driver looking at it. It’s on my fishing bucket list now. We go back up to Ardmore again Friday so I get to drool some more. Any of you Tennessee folks have a recommendation or two on some good bank fishing spots? ?
  8. St. Johns river explains it! It's a 'Frankenfish'!! ? Since I just started back fishing when I retired last March I can't say much on this topic since it's been too long ago when I last wet a line so I'll just enjoy the thread. ?
  9. Congrats @Bird!
  10. No fair wearing flip-flops in January! No bonus points for you! ? @AlabamaSpothunter, if these winds ever die down enough I’ll try my Garmin out on the pond. Not even gonna try it and be blown all over the place and spun like a top. ?
  11. Hahahaha! Yeah, I tried telling her SO meant ‘Significant Other’ until she saw the box. ???
  12. I’ve got a few good ones. Pflueger Trion (30) paired to a Lews Laser SG1 7’ M, Shimano Nexave in both 2500 and 3000 paired to the same rods as the Pflueger except the 3000 is on a 7’ MH. I also have a Shimano Sahara FJ SHC3000HGFJ I got from Digitaka that is currently $72.50 US paired to a Lews 7’ MH. Guess you can tell I’m fond of Shimano reels and Lews rods. ? So roughly $60 for a rod and around $50 for a reel (Shimano Nexave 2500 or 3000) or (Pflueger Trion SP) or the Sahara for a litter more. https://www.digitaka.com/item/5/4/1/4969363044570
  13. I saw the same at my local Walmart too the other day. My edumacated guess is they’re trying to catch up. ?
  14. Nooooooooooooooooooooo! screamed my wallet. ?
  15. Welcome to BR neighbor! You’ll find tons of useful information here. Sit back, put your feet up and browse away! ?
  16. I’m sure it has some impact on the sediment. We have several natural drainage paths from the top of the mountain behind the house that feeds the pond from different directions. I’ve seen fish hit the surface in front of most all of them eating baitfish that were there for insects, grubs, etc. Kind of a smorgasbord for the bass.
  17. The 2nd pic is what our pond looks like. Would love it if it were clearer but not happening.
  18. Went back down to the pond again this afternoon in between loads of laundry (wife can’t climb the stairs) and managed to catch this fella on a weighted 3/0 hook with a Big Bites Baits Russ Lane - Coontail Worm in Hematoma (who comes up with these colors??) on a medium power spinning setup that made the fight well worth it. Beautiful skies again but the winds gusting up to 22mph made the mid 40s feel like low 20s for this southern boy. ? I slow retrieved it as slow as possible to tease the lethargic bass into going for it and it worked! Wish I had more time but I’ll take what I can get.
  19. You’re gonna need to put a filter on YouTube or go broke! ?
  20. What were they? Inquiring minds want to know! LOL Seriously though, it looks like a lipless crank in the pics but a lot slimmer?
  21. Hit the pond today for a few hours. Blue sky, temps in the upper 40s, water was mostly muddy from the recent rains but I was feeling the need to wet a line so I went for it. Wound up catching 4 LM in the 12” range on a Yo-Zuri 3DB jerkbait 110 and a 1/4oz Siebert’s Outdoors @Siebert Outdoors jig in bloody shad with a Missle Baits Shockwave Shad trailer in Pearl White. Managed to hit a sweet spot in a corner of the pond that was roughly on the eastern side with intermittent wind gusts that would blow a bomb cast way off target if I wasn’t paying attention. I need to visit Neely Henry again soon!
  22. Our local post office is a joke. Lazy and doesn’t really care if you have an issue with a lost package. We had a P.O. Box with them for a while and they couldn’t even put all our mail in it. We had one of their larger boxes too. Now we get it or we don’t. Nothing we can do about it.
  23. The first thing you should check is to see if your PC will support an upgrade to the latest operating system. If not you’re looking at a new PC. If it WILL support an upgrade BACK ALL YOUR DATA UP BEFORE ANYTHING ELSE! I can’t emphasize this enough. Once it’s backed up (to an external drive, Google drive, Microsoft OneDrive, etc.) you can start the upgrade. The above is a condensed version of the process and I know it will be confusing to you but the main thing is to make sure your machine will support the upgrade first.
  24. I’d beam (Star Trek) @AlabamaSpothunter’s lake fish to our pond here. Not the catfish though. Just the bass and crappie! ?
