  1. Having worked all over the greater Birmingham, AL area, some places I was nervous to drive through, I carried legal all the time. It’s saved my bacon more than once. 9mm is the cartridge of choice and a S&W MP Shield w/ 8 rd mag is what I carry daily. It hides well with no tell-tale bulge. That said my all time favorite is the .45 ACP. Just too darn heavy for summertime attire. ?
  2. Got my new Fogy Package kit from Siebert Outdoors yesterday. Tried ‘‘em out today and they start vibrating immediately upon retrieve. Paired them up with some trailers for that little extra enticement and caught a decent 3 +/- pounder. And of course I left my phone in the house so no photo. ?
  3. And here I thought I had that skill all to my own! I pulled up a limb today that had snagged my favorite chatter bait with a grappling hook I got from Amazon. Darn thing had been ‘eating’ my lures the past few days and I thought it was a sunken tree until it moved a little. ? It won’t snag any more lures now. Heheheh!
  4. Caught several ‘small-ish’ LMB today and only thought to snap a picture of one of them. @A-Jay’s make it look like a hatchling ?
  5. I know the feeling. Got back into it myself this year after I retired. EVERYTHING changed from what I was used to years ago it seemed. I had to do a lot of research ? to determine what would work best for me. I pond fish mostly due to having one here at the house but I also fish a couple lakes. So clear water and muddy. I started off with two spinning combos (Shimano Nexava III/ Pflueger President spinning reels both on Lew's Laser SG1 Spinning Rods MH 7 foot. The Shimano has 30# braid on it and the President has 12# mono so I was set up for most scenarios. I eventually picked up a couple baitcasters and learned how to use them. Still prefer my spinning combos though. ?
  6. 2 grands here. A boy and a girl. Love every minute with them.
  7. Reminds me of visits to Walmart’s pharmacy and being told how many vaccines they have for my age group. Made me wonder if they were ever stationed at Ft. Dix. ?
  8. How did it go today with the drop shot? I’ve not tried it yet either but it’s on my To-Do List to try. Guess my worst habit is sticking to the pond here at the house and not going to Inland or Henry Neely more. Water’s down at Inland since it’s a reservoir for BWW (B’ham Water Works) so bank fishing is easier there. Both are around a 30+ minute drive for me so my lazy self tends to head dow to the pond mostly.
  9. Army did the same. We were just an assembly line for the phalanx of needle stickers. ?
  10. Decided to go out to the pond and try my luck today and nailed a 3.14lb LMB on a T-rigged ribbon tail craw in black/blue on my spinning rod with 12lb mono in moss green. Got ran off when it decided to come a lightning dropping thunderstorm though
  11. Yup, I missed it. ?
  12. If I’ve missed how this is done, my bad. I believe I’ve looked high and low but unless it’s a newbie thing I haven’t found where to add one. It’s a n00b thing isn’t it. ?
  13. Agreed! Loved their music and still listen now and again
  14. Hoping for the best possible outcome for Dee! Best wishes for you all as I know this hits family just as hard.
  15. Running water makes me want to pee ?
  16. Awesome! Reminds me I need to restock on lizards and craw creature baits. I won’t ask what your night fishing spot is but would I recognize it? You mentioned the boat so I’m guessing it’s not a pond. My next trip is Neely Henry somewhere around Rainbow Landing or Canoe Creek hopefully.
  17. I went out to Inland lake this morning. Overcast, windy… caught 3 dink smallies and went bust after that. My luck isn’t going well either
  18. Tad over 2 pounds and not happy! Caught on a Neko rigged worm in green pumpkin with a spinning setup. Just to clarify: The fish was not happy. No Happy meal for him! ?
  19. Not Weiss but Henry Neely and Inland lake when not fishing the pond
  20. Going to head over to Inland lake this weekend and wondered if any of you Bama anglers had any input / advice. I’ve been over several maps but considering there’s gators there I’m not too keen on tromping around the undergrowth. ?
  21. Former Army E-4 (the evil rank) 1982. BT: Ft. Dix, NJ. AIT: Ft. Gordon, GA. MOS: 36C (Wire Systems Installer and Operator). Otherwise known as ‘sniper-bait’ when running wire through trees. ?
  22. Thanks folks!
  23. Me: Hello, my name is Scott and I’m a fishaholic. Room: Hi Scott! Me: it’s been just a few hours since my last cast. I’ve fallen tripped jumped off the wagon since I retired this year. Room: Sorry to hear it Scott. Here, have a buzzbait and try to do better. ? —— I’m from Springville, AL and am back to my favorite pastime. We have a stocked pond here at the house and I’m fishing it as often as I can when not headed to Inland lake. Some bass I’ve caught and my ‘ride’ are below. —- https://imgur.com/fmaennv https://imgur.com/5xzsJsx https://imgur.com/c2bgruZ https://imgur.com/T5nleRn —- My trusty inflatable: https://imgur.com/uP9lx7K
