  1. Michigan's state record claims to be 2lbs 2.4oz. I must admit, I have my doubts...
  2. Caught the biggest pumpkin seed I've ever seen. I didn't know they got this big. He weighed about half a pound.
  3. Was just about to say something similar.
  4. I can't lie. I love the Whopper Plopper. As far as the worm, I've got more fish on worms than all my other baits combined. I can't imagine abandoning it. I can never get anything to hit my spinners. Ever. I know I must be doing something wrong, but when all my other baits work for me, it seems like a small problem that I have yet to remedy.
  5. ? Seriously though, that's probably it. I like being alone when I'm fishing and strangers talking to me disrupts that.
  6. Define world record. Biggest bass ever caught? (That we know of) Yes. Biggest bass ever caught within the rules of sport fishing (as laid out by the universally recognized IGFA) and in compliance with state laws? No. But, it counts for me, and I don't need any official stamp next to it. Define world record. Biggest bass ever caught? (That we know of) Yes. 7. The thing that gets me the most annoyed is when people without a clue about fishing feel the need to stop and talk to me about fishing. If someone is genuinely interested in fishing, or is a fisherman/woman themselves, I love to chat with them. But sometimes people just feel the need to talk to you if you have a line in the water. Deep down I know they're just trying to be nice and friendly, and I always try to be polite and kind in return. But for whatever reason I get really irritated at such a small thing. The part that bugs me the most is that I don't know why I hate it. ?
  8. Definitely the wildest fishing story I've ever heard. ?
  9. I've never fished the Pine. I will one day. It's only about 20 minutes from me.
  10. It sure was a lot of fun to read. I'm from Isabella County. I mostly fish the Chippewa River, plus there's a bunch of small ponds in my area that I like to fish as well.
  11. I found these forums a week or so ago when I was trying to research the veracity of the Michigan Master Angler records, along with trying to find any sort of recording of the official state record. I stumbled across an absolutely fascinating thread from 2019 discussing exactly what I was curious about. Y'all are some great sleuths, and dug up way more info than I would have found on my own. I figured this was a community I had to be a part of. My grandfather first got me into fishing as a kid, mostly worm and bobber for white suckers in the Black River. And after I reached adulthood, I never fished much. I got fired from my job last summer and with all the free time on my hands, I decided it would be a good opportunity to start fishing again. And I was hooked, if you'll pardon the pun. I went fishing every day last summer. And now that I've got a new job, I go fishing at least once a week if I can. I'll enjoy catching anything that bites, but I've grown quite fond of the river smallies. Nothing quite fights like a bronze back. And their topwater blow-ups are the best. Thanks for letting me be a part. I look forward learning alot and having a blast on here when I can't be out at the river. -JC
  12. Got out yesterday. Nothing massive like most of you. Biggest was 14 inches. But regardless of size, it's always lotsa fun.
  13. All these guys talking about boats and I'm still casting from the bank...
