  1. Thanks guys. The 40 is so d**n heavy it likes to spool off my rod when casting and in loops and sits limp I don't fish massive baits mostly weightless t rigged senkos and some top water spooks that are heavier that's the extent of it.
  2. Yes spinning gear sorry forgot and I have two rods an ultra light and this medium one so I currently don't have enough for just a dedicated frog set up like I said one for smaller fish with the ultra lite and this for "bigger".
  3. So I have a 7 foot, medium action ugly stick lite pro with a Lew's 3000 reel on it as my do it all bass/bigger fish rod than my ultra lite. I had 10 pound mono on there for awhile and wanted to try braid. Got some power pro spectra in #40 test spacing out because I thought on the chart on the box it was the equivalent of #10 mono in general I spaced out it's only the equivalent of #10 mono in DIAMETER. So I've been fishing with it past couple days and it's unruly and obviously too heavy for my applications (Biggest fish I'll run into is around 10-12 pounds). I am thinking about just stripping the #40 off today and going with 20 or 30 but I don't want it to dig into itself. What is the better option if I'm usually catching 2-6 pound but I want the option to catch bigger fish with this rod just Incase, can 20 power pro handle bigger fish and not be a pain to fish? Worse comes to worse I might just switch back to mono BUT frogging in heavy cover with mono is hell on earth to where my frog hookups with 40 pd braid the past couple days have been heaven. Any advice? Thanks.
  4. thanks everyone got two of the 4 frogs bent properly, does trimming the skirt really help?
  5. I dont mind being rough with it but i dont want to break the hooks or the frog thats my only concern, screw the pliers. And I got some man hands.
  6. 4 different kinds of frogs, 3 sets of pliers, I place the plier behind the barb and try to pull, the pliers either slide down the rear circle of the hook or the force of me pulling the hook pulls the other side(second hook) over. and nothing gets moved. any tips? ive watched numerous video and they make it look so easy
  7. awesome info thank you for all the replies!!!
  8. I am curious as sometimes I will go out and SLAY fish by being aggressive with my lure changes every 15-20 mins if i dont get bites, walking and casting, new spots from the bank, constant movement varying up my retrieve speed and switching from my UL with 6 pound test and generic spinners that will catch anything like joes flies, panther martins, mepps etc to my medium action bass rod with straight 10 pound mono test no leader that I use for topwater, senkos and even tiny little white grubs on the bass rod. I am trying to catch ANYTHING when I first get out to the water, trout, bass, perch, drum, sunfish etc to get my confidence up for the day before I start targeting specific fish. But sometimes the fish are hitting top water and I am pretty sure they are feeding on bugs on the surface because they wont hit the wopper plopper, frog or anything else I throw. I like to start out with a small white grub on the bass rod and the joes flies on the UL then go up from there. Any other tips when the fish aren't biting besides all the stuff I listed above and going up in lure size, retrieve and spot gradually? Also how in the hell do you cast these tiny little fake bug plastics that sit on the surface but if you add any amount of splitshot they just sink, I cant get them further than 5 feet from me without weight and they just sink instantly.
  9. I have a less than a month old pfluger president 25, I put some 6 pound test on today and i usually soak my bale in warm water to help the line memory for 5 or 10 minutes then put the bale back on, well I did that today, didnt lose the washers, the spring and clicker on the inside are not damaged and the teeth on the actual reel are all perfect shape. Any ideas? It will click when I adjust the drag on the top but if I pull line it doesn't click at all what so ever.
