  1. A junebug Creme Scoundrel in 8'', but maybe a 6'' if the lake has stunted fish. With the 8'', a 3/0 wide gap worm hook of your preferred brand. The vmc redline are good. I just tried those last week. Just make sure the hook you choose is scary sharp! A 1/4 oz tungsten bullet weight to finish it off. I have some junebug colored tungsten weights I like.
  2. I just got lucky and found some 9'' jelly worms in junebug and dark purple. I bought 3 pounds of each color. I plan to get a couple more pounds of each in a couple weeks. I like them that much. I just want to make sure I can have some to use in 10 years. Hopefully someone buys the rights and starts making jellyworms and other Mann's great baits. If Creme was to go out of business, I think I might cry a bit. Thankfully they are still making Scoundrels and Tubeworms every day. There are a few other classic worms that are no longer made that I would love to see come back to market.
  3. I just got 6 in without the front split rings too. Thanks for the info on JDM/USA difference with split rings. I will email Megabass usa for the rings.
  4. I have a few Edge Silver Widows with the NFC xray blanks, to me they are definitely more sensitive than the nrx+ rods I had. Those nfc blanks are sweet!
  5. I still use 8'' Creme Scoundrel worms nearly every trip. I use the 8'' also for floating worm duty as well as Texas rigs. I do use the 6'' and the 4'' versions too occasionally, but the 8 is by far my most used size. I love the 9'' Jelly worms too, but sadly they are extinct and can only be found on ebay for crazy money. Please, someone start remaking the jelly worms!
  6. Thanks for the opinions, but I didnt ask the right question. I am wanting to know which taper should be the most sensitive, not just of the two rods I mentioned, but of bass rods in general, extra fast, fast, mod fast, moderate? . Also which action/weight usually is the most sensitive in general, heavy, med. heavy, medium? I am wanting to know so I better understand rod ratings and what they mean for sensitivity, and also to help guide my rod choices for certain types of fishing. I currently use the medium heavy extra fast st.croix for my texas rigs, and the 7'4'' heavy fast for carolina rigs.
  7. I am curious what yall think. What is best for ultimate sensitivity in a rod, Medium heavy, Heavy, and Fast or Extra fast? Lets say this is for a texas rig or medium jig, if it matters. Casting rod I have 2 rods to choose from to make it my dedicated texas rig rod, the first is a 7'1'' med. hvy. extra fast , the second is a 7'4'' hvy. fast. Both are St.Croix Legend Extreme casting rods. They both do the job very well, this makes choosing tough.
  8. My St.croix Legend Extreme has them. So far no issues with them after about a year and good bit of use. I use my gear a good bit but dont abuse it. I do my best to maintain my reels and rods , still though, accidents can happen. Hopefully I wont break any of these guides
  9. anybody here use the Diawa carbon fiber framed line guides? Are they even available for custom builders? I have a St. Croix Legend Extreme that has them on it. It is one amazing rod. I love the carbon handle on it, and is super sensitive. I like it better than my Shimano Poison Ultima , but only because of the handle. The rods are very similar in sensitivity. They both are more sensitive than my Edge Silver Widows, but they cost more too. The silver Widows are awesome for their price "as far as commercial rods go"
  10. 35-40, with several spare rods and spare reels.
  11. I have a newer legend elite I got about 8 months ago. it is a casting medium heavy extra fast. I reall like this rod for pitching and texas rigs. It is just a pleasure to use. I am probably going to get another before long. I am not familiar with the p5, sorry The only other rod I like this much is my poison ultima. 7' med hvy It is also superb. Its a bit heavier and stiffer than the st.croix, so they make a great pair together.
  12. all I can offer is I have and use the legend elite in med/hvy x-fast, 7'3'' I think. I use it for texas rigs and jigs 1/2 oz to 1/4oz. I have braid on it now, but considering replacing the braid with fluro. I love the rod! Super sensitive and very comfortable to use. Pitching with it is a pure pleasure. Thinking about getting another, after I save some pennies.
  13. sense I made the last post, I found 2 like new Shimano Bantam Boron rods! They are like the rod above, but better, with slightly different colors on the black and the rubber pistol grip. . These rods are old, but man they feel great and are very sensitive for a rod of this age.
  14. I have a few reels with the flippin' levers. My favorite 2 are my Shimano Castaics I got around 2001 or so. Still very very smooth reels and cast/flip/pitch like a dream. These are amazing reels for flipping and pitching. I also have a very old Team Diawa Pro Caster PR1-5Bi that has the flipping lever. I just fully rebuilt it with all new gears, bearings, and drag disc. It is better than new now, the upgraded hybrid ceramic bearings helped to make it an excellent pitching reel, the carbon fiber drag disc were a needed upgrade as the old drag disc were jerky and not very good.
  15. I am still looking for the pinion gears for the Bantam 100, BNT 0023.
