  1. For someone who has never bass fished before and is heading to a pond to have a picnick with his family I don’t think hardbaits are the best option. However if your a seasoned angler you know that cranks, deep jerkbaits, and walking baits offshore during the summer absolutely kill it. But with no way to contour the bottom your best bet is a football jig drag followed up with a big worm otherwise your just guessing
  2. I got a lipless from h20 but it turned on its side when you let it drop so I haven’t used it much since that I did have a rod from them a while back it was a camo 7ft medium fast and it was one of the best shakeyhead rods I’ve ever owned
  3. It seems they have a similar looking retrieve to mine but it’s hard to tell what their bait is doing underwater I can make a berkley Stunna do anything I want it too but I personally change up baits to make it easier. With a Stunna like I said i do 3 walk the dog twitches then a pull towards me maybe 1-2 ft then a double twitch going forwards and walk the dog i use this in hot water 55-60+ in hot water I also use the Kvd style rip bait and they need to be worked with much faster action and harder snaps the Kvd to me is a post spawn bait you have to hurt rally hard and work agressively the rappala or the flash pointer are more of a rolling action when you jerk then also best worked aggressively when you want to drawl fish with flash in fall and sometimes lost spawn the vision 110family is w great jerkbait made to excell in cold water and this along with the great colors and hefty price tag I don’t use to many of them as I believe the Stunna is a better all around jerkbait it can be hit hard and made to roll fast it can be fished slow and finessy and he’ll you can even put a split ring on the front and back hooks and give the +1 almost a yo yo effect twitching up and too the side in 20 ft of water because of the fast sink jerkbaits are a big confidence bait for me snd I catch fish year round with them however I saw the tactical guys doing stuff a little different witch is ok I was hoping to learn some new techniques from you guys so thanks for the responses
  4. consider yourself lucky on a Tuesday night 3 fish night or every summer Tuesday I can sit on my dock and watch boat after boat pull in the mouth of my cove and go down every dock and 90% of the time throw a kvd 1.5 or spinnerbait around every dock every once and a while a jig witch doesent make sense to me if i had a boat I would be finding some offshore structure during the hot months
  5. Well this isint a per say right way to fish them for me I feel like 90% of the time summer fall winter spring pre and post spawn If there is a fish atleast semi active I can get them to strike however Im more so just curious what you guys try to make your bait do. I normally go 1-2-3 in a walk the dog action pretty soft popping the slack making the bait go 6 inches then 1-2 with less slack and more of a powerful snap this works really well with the change of small to large movement like I said there’s a million ways to fish them I’m curious on how you guys look to make your baits do
  6. This little guy was def a handful
  7. here in the south we have big old 50lb flatheads that will eat your lunch if you hook one cranking or with a big jig
  8. Try adding a split ring to the tail hook so the bait falls back towards chasers when you kill it esp in the summer it is deadly
  9. I normally throw stunnas as a all around first option I keep see through colors for clear water bright see through for muddy water and flashy silvers if I want to make the bait roll and throw off flash the Rappalas are more finesse and move with lighter twitches almost all of these are natural see throughs the Kvds for shallow water or if I want to put more umph into the twitches i like natural perch bluegill or solid silhouette shad colors for these
  10. Hi guys I’ve had a tremendous amount of success on jerkbaits this year and purchased my first lure specific combo because of how much year round success I have had on them. I usually use the berkley Stunna and I tend to do really well making the lure do a walk the dog motion back and forth then every 10-12 ft popping the weight transfer bb so it makes the bait fall tail first back to the fish. However watching a tactical bass on video their jerkbaits did just hops forward sitting nose down and it seems those guys really know what they’re doing. Even when I use other baits like rhe Kvds rappala shadow rap and vision 110 I go for that side to side gliding motion. Am have I been fishing this wrong this whole time ? I catch tons of fish on them and they have become a huge confidence bait for me. But am I working them wrong , should I look for a more straight line approach? What do you guys try to make your jerkbaits do
  11. I’m wierd a strike king Kvd1.5 has been the most sold crank in the world the past couple years telling me that everyone is knowing them, while they do work I like to throw baits that not everyone has, if a fish sees 15 Kvd 1.5s a day and then sees a bx brat fast fighter wobble or a little Jhon’s super tight wobble on my mind it would be more apt to catch fish
  12. What’s your guys favorite squarebills I’ve recently been fishing them a ton as my dock is covered in shallow chunk rock at the mouth of a channel and I love throwing them in the afternoon as the shad move up shallow. I’ve recently found the bx brat to be phenomenal the Kvd 1.5s are ok but I like throwing the dt fat dt 4-6s and the bx brat the best I guess Rapala s are just productive for me. those brats are no joke. What squarebills to do you guys like I’ve heard good things about the little Jhon and crush cranks. Anyone used them ?
  13. I’m using a Dobyns champ 744 and it’s a heavy power extra fast with 20 lb fluro so I usually don’t have trouble with hooksets for me the biggest thing is how well it comes through rock my whole lake is rocky bottom almost so I don’t like super heavy jigs that get stuck on the rocks
  14. I like the football jigs for deep structure but I’m talking like 3-12ft casting at docks laydowns brush ect
  15. What are you guys favorite casting jigs the Bico jigs look really sweet but I’m just getting into jig fishing and looking for some options ?
  16. We bought the same combo ??? those kaydens are sweet too I will be buying 4-5 more of this combo I want a 735cb 734cb 744c and a 702sf
  17. I got mine yesterday that spool is fast man it is taking me a while to get adjusted to the braking system but as of now with 4 brakes internal and 6 external I’m throwing jerkbaits 40 yards on a no effort cast after I get everything tuned up and can bomb I’m expecting much more the reel is super quiet during reeling and feels really really powerful drag is nice and smooth and this feels like a much more expensive reel than the 150$ I paid on my academy sale wow
  18. Ok so my kayden came in and wow I don’t know if I will ever spend the extra 100$ on a champion except for some models that they don’t make in a Kayden these things are sweet man the unfinished blank looks awesome super crisp snappy and sensitive and they handled a couple 2-3 lb fish well the actions are perfect for 110 size jerkbait a and the 110 jrs even was able to throw some rock crawlers and squarebills really well on it I’m super impressed with the kaydens I will be buying more i would say the kaydens are about 50% better than the fury’s and the champions are probably 5% better than the kaydens I was extremely happy with my purchase and anyone who handled it could not believe the rod was only 170$
  19. I’m assuming by bfs you mean big fat small mouth and they eat just about anything lol. But seriously shimano makes a bfs curado that is really nice and it all kind of depends on what techniques you finesse fish with spinning rods are already finesse by trade just look for a 610-7ft medium light I like the Dobyns champ 702sf and a Shimano vanford 2500 if you wanted to go lighter witch to me 10lb braid to a 6 lb leader is as light as I want to go you could look for a 701sf spinning rod and match it with a 1000 vanford for a casting rod a Dobyns champ 702c matched with the curado bfs and boom your in business and have a spinning and casting combo for around 800$ but may I ask why you want to get into bfs gear I own a 2 and 3 power spinning rod and they throw finesse stuff as well as I could ask for
  20. It’s on its way now got a mgl150 from academy for 150$ to pair it with and am pretty pumped for the combo to arrive, also have a second champ 744 and mgl pair otw too it’s gonna be a good week
  21. what rods do you have them on? Welp it’s settled a 7:1 and 8:1 mgl it is
  22. I’m also probably going to buy a reel for a 744 jog rod I ordered as well these deals are pretty sweet 140$ for a curado k is a nice deal I think I’m going to go with the mgl 150 for my jerk rod and a curado k 8:1 for my jig rod i Like the feel of a bigger wider spool with larger diameter line plus the larger the spool the more line you pickup on longer casts
  23. Would you pick the mgl 150 or the k 200 For throwing 110 size jerkbaits and rock crawlers
  24. Hello peeps, I just bought a new jerkbait rod and settled on a Dobyns kayden 610-4cb the struggle now is I need a reel, I was torn between A curado k and a 13 fishing concept a2. However, I found a curado dc for 200$. Does anyone own a dc, for me longevity is important and the dc seems like it would take away some of the durability. i have owned some older curados and loved them but the concept a2 looks sweet as well and I’m thinking about it for a jig rod reel with that 25lbs of drag. However I have heard the curado k feels more powerful bc of the gears. Does anyone own these reels if so do you prefer the dc or the k for lighter baits, have you had any issues with reliability on the dc, and what are the thoughts on the concept a2 ?
