  1. Ok. Thanks everyone for the feedback I will probably try out the Curado 200k or the Daiwa Tatula 150. Thanks!
  2. Oh. Ok. I thought that heavy drag would be good for pulling bass out of heavy grass so I don't have line slipping out of the reel. Are those reels still good choices??? Oh, I must have mixed em' up. Oops!
  3. Hey Everyone! I have been looking for a workhorse reel to pair with a heavy rod. I am trying to decide between The 13 Fishing Concept A2 with 25 lbs. drag at $180, the Shimano Curado 200K with 22 lbs. drag at $180, or the Bruin Outdoors ELS Legend Series reel with 22 lbs. of drag at $180. All three reels have some of the highest amounts of 5 star reviews I have ever seen a reel get. All three are buttery smooth with high end components. The Curado is notoriously famous for being amazing, but the Bruin has some features that are hard to find in some $400 reels. I would love to hear your suggestions. Thanks!
  4. Hey Everyone! Has anyone used the 13 Fishing Concept A2 at all? I have been looking for a versatile reel that has some power with it for putting on my 7'2' Heavy Fast action. The Concept A2 has 25 pounds of drag but also can cast lightweight lures I've heard. Based off what I've seen it has almost no bad reviews. Just wanted to hear any reviews about it from you guys in case I go to purchase it. Thanks!
  5. I use a lot of desiccant packs in my boxes, but I also have some Plano Edge boxes. The Edge boxes are super pricy, but I got some for Christmas. The Edge boxes are sweet because you get a guarantee your baits aren't rusting in any possible way because of three way rust prevention and an O-ring to keep the box waterproof. The Edge boxes are crazy sturdy and durable. I like to keep my treble hook baits in the Edge boxes. The price point is a little tough though at $30 for a regular 3700 box. But I do like the Edge Flex boxes.
  6. I live about 20 minutes from a small lake. I live in Pennsylvania and we are notorious for tough bass fishing, mostly because we are famous for trout. Our smallmouth fishing is awesome in the rivers but largemouth fishing is a bit lacking. The lake is about 47 acres, so not that big. The main lake has a small surface area and is about 20 feet deep. Most of the acreage is in the amount of coves and creeks in the lake. The shoreline is dotted with laydowns and overhanging trees. The far north side turns into a lily pad field in the summer but I had a 5 pounder strike a frog there. The eastern shoreline is covered in tall grass and cattails with a few bundles of lily pads here and there. The bottom is spotted with brush piles and trees with a few rocks. The lake is stocked with bluegill, crappie, perch, and golden shiners as the baitfish. I mostly have luck there on Texas rigs and top water poppers. The lake does have potential as someone caught a nine pounder there and I usually catch a few 3 pounders once in a while. I wanted to hear your guys suggestions for what baits to throw to catch more bass and bigger bass there.
  7. Thanks! The Tatula, the SLX, and the Falcon Lowrider were all the ones I was looking at, just didn't know which one to get. They all have excellent reviews so I guess I'll just have to pick one.
  8. Ok Thanks I think I'll go with a Moderate Fast has anyone tried the Halo HFX? I have heard from some people that it is crazy sensitive and several people I know have boat flipped 7lb bass with them.
  9. Hi everyone! I'm looking for a good all around rod for crankbaits, jerkbaits, and small topwaters. I have been using a spinning rod for these applications but want to get a good medium casting rod. My budget isn't huge so I am looking for something in the $100-$160 range. I don't know if I should get a moderate or fast action. Thank You.
  10. I'm looking for a second rod and reel set up to use for Jigs. I'm currently using a Dobyns Fury 7 foot 3 inch Heavy Fast action rated for 1/4 to 1 ounce baits. It's paired with a Lew's Speed Spool LFS reel. It is spooled up with 50lb Seaguar Smackdown Braid for flipping into heavy cover and grass. The set up is pretty awesome and casts far and accurately while still being really smooth on the retrieve. I am looking for a second rod and reel because I fish jigs a lot and I need another to pair with flouro for hard bottom fishing. I have found a few interesting rods and reels on Tackle Warehouse that have plenty of good reviews. The one that seems the most interesting is the Falcon Lowrider in a 7 foot 2 inch Heavy Fast action. My budget is $100-$160 for a rod and $100-$190 for a reel. I'm looking for a rod that is lightweight and sensitive yet has good backbone for hard hooksets. Some reels I have been looking at are the SLX DC and the Daiwa Tatula CT. I'd be happy to hear any recommendations you may have for rods and reels. Thank You.
