Scorpion 150 MGL or scorpion DC. Same platform but with an MGL spool or DC system. Think of it as a curado 200k spectrum. Scorpion 150 mgl on the finesse side, curado 200k and DC reels in the middle and tranx 200 on the power/salt side. They have the tranx 300 as the scorpion 300 MD too but the tranx 200 is unrelated to the tranx 300. It's actually a curado 200k platform reel.
Tatula ct. It has magforce z instead of sv. The sv braking profile is great if you want to cast and skip baits to targets. Best in the biz. Throwing baits on open water using a crank bait rod? Magforce z is better here imo. Save the tatula sv for a jig and plastics rod.
It's how you palm the reel. With 3 fingers in front of the trigger palming you can rub the dial on the tatula 150/200 and 100 ct reels if you place your pointer finger on the rod blank or wrap it around the reel front when palming. Move that finger down with the others and this will make the problem go away. You can also palm with only two fingers in front of the trigger like the lefties do.

I would try the used market in the tackle community. Post a looking for thread in the section here or the tt forum. Remember that lefty stars are reverse threaded. A spool tension knob should be pretty easy to find too. Those threads were used for many years. You can use other non tdz drag stars but a tdz will have a high end vintage look. I like the bass pro handle and knobs btw. It doesn't look out of place on that reel. You can also use a clicker for the tdz star if this reel did not come with one.
It would be cool too if you could upgrade the spool if you like and fish the reel. I'm not sure what spools fit these old daiwas but a lighter weight one would make pitching a breeze.
Also if you want another one then consider the td-x or td-z versions. Those are further refinements on the concept. Basically their final form. These do share spools with modern reels so it opens up many options for what you want to do with the reel. This thread on tt is a good one to read about these reels. Some of these are really cool.

Use one of the many scents on the market. That petroleum like smell is actually the natural scent of plastisol. Scents are typically added to mask that foul smell and appeal to anglers more so than fish. This is why they are often scents and waft well in air and are in familiar scents like, coffee, garlic, fruits or anise. To attract anglers, hide plasitsol scent and give us a easily recognizable feature of the baits to attribute to their success if we have success ie: the "man I had a great day with the KVD caffeine shads" "that caffeine scent sure does work" instead of correctly associating the success with the caffeine shad just being an excellently designed bait with great action.
Rant aside, just put whatever scent you want on from the dizzying array of scents on the market. They often have an oil in them that helps keep the baits lubricated and resistant to taking on memory when stored. I just use some Walmart Bang stuff I have and douse the baits with that when they appear dry or if they smell like a petroleum product.
