  1. Yeah I watched a promo video on YouTube on kayak angler magazine and in the video the baitcaster has a clicking drag….. I thought that was pretty cool, maybe that was just a prototype and they went away from that with the final product……
  2. What I’m interested in is how satisfying is the clicking drag sounds this reel makes……. For this price point I can’t think of another baitcaster that has a clicking drag I’m probably wrong though
  3. Xzone mini swammers and regular swammers really have worked well for me I mostly use the mini swammers, but like most here I also have some rage swimmers just to change it up from time to time
  4. I’ve kept every box from every reel I’ve ever bought…. No idea why though
  5. Abu Garcia Revo X Gen 4 50lb Sunline XPlasma
  6. 7’4 Heavy Fast St Croix surprisingly versatile rod, It used to get very little use and nowadays it gets used every time I go out who knew!
  7. Straight braid
  8. Which is better both are workhorses
  9. Invizx it’s more versatile so you can use it for more applications…. it’s just a good reliable line I use it very often
  10. So what I’ve gathered is sx1 and plasma are both finesse braids and FX2 is a heavy duty braid so is there really any difference between sx1 and plasma?
  11. I have 2 Revo SX’s 4th gen I fish them hard every week during fishing season and I am not perfect with my reel maintenance….. and yet these reels still perform just as smooth and reliably as ever….. I don’t understand the dislike towards them I find them to be very good reels just my 2cents
  12. Can someone take me to school on these 3 lines XPlasma , SX1, and FX2 What is the real difference between the 3? I know FX2 is quite rough for cutting through vegetation but apart from that I don’t know anything about the lines….. so what are the main differences between the 3 and what would be considered “the best all around line” Are sx1 and plasma basically the same?
  13. So I have a 7’1 MH/F st croix bass x the new model with the “hybrid” guides first couple guides at the bottom have inserts and the rest are stainless steel without guides I’ve been using it with fluorocarbon line since I bought it but am looking to change it up I want to use it for some light frogging and worm fishing so I plan on using some Seaguar smackdown 50lb braid and am wondering what people’s thoughts are on this and if they think it’ll groove the guides at all I feel like it should be just fine it’s a modern rod with a modern 8 strand smooth braid so I’d like to think it would be totally fine but just wanted to hear peoples opinions on the matter thanks
  14. Another vote Seaguar tactx
  15. Today I had something happen to me for the first time today…… I caught this beautiful 4 pound 1 ounce smallie and then I looked into his mouth to get the hook out and went “Oh BLEEP” I was fishing a weightless 4inch yum dinger Texas rigged and he had swallowed about 1/3-1/2 of my 3/0 ewg hook not gonna lie for a moment I was a bit panicked thinking I don’t know how to get this out….. how the heck am I gonna get this out….. and was sad that this beautiful fish could potentially die because of me then ding ding ding I remembered I watched a video somewhere on the internet about what to do when you gut hook a fish You can imagine my nerves trying to attempt this going strictly off my memory of “a video I saw on the internet one time” so I got the fish to bend its head slightly to one side to flare open the gill plate and I go through there with my pliers and sure enough I was able to flip the hook over and pop it out actually quite easily and in the end I felt like my initial nerves were an overreaction….. but now I feel much more confident for if that were to happen again so overall a very good experience I’d say so thank you people of the internet for putting fish saving information out there….. and here is the fish unhooked and off to grow even bigger
  16. Was just wondering if anyone on here owns or has used any of these reels or rods…… and if they have what do they have to say about them? the specs aren’t gonna blow you away, all graphite frame and side plates and 10 bearings for the reels….. and 30 ton blank with fuji reel seats and sea guide guides for the rods….. but they’re 99$ reels and rods so ??‍♂️ just curious what people think about the company and their Krazy series of rods and reels Thanks
  17. You can’t go wrong with a st croix rod the victory series are very good rods as for medium or medium heavy that depends on what baits you plan on throwing…… both powers are versatile options
  18. I have the new smoke x baitcasting reel I bought it this winter on sale, but I’ve only fished it once so I can’t say too much about it other than it’s probably the farthest casting reel I own…… the stock spool bearings it comes with are easily the best out of all the casting reels I own I was surprised to be honest…… but it’s not as smooth on the retrieve as some of the other reels I own but that’s not to say it’s bad at all the rubber knobs felt grippy nothing special but they’ll work fine that’s really all I can say about the reel it seems like a good reel and I’m going to keep using it I have no complaints after my one use ??‍♂️ I paid 119.99 Canadian for it also
  19. Another vote for the black max
  20. 7’1 MH/F St Croix Mojo Bass paired with a Abu Garcia Revo SX spooled with 15lb Seaguar Invizx I can fish a lot of different things with that in a pinch….. if I’m in this hypothetical situation
  21. I’d recommend dipping your toes into a st croix and just get a bass x so you’re not spending a lot of money and you can just kinda get a feel for their rods….. see if you like them or not……. I have a new bass x 7’1 medium heavy fast and it’s a nice rod for the price point but if you want something on the lighter side just go the with medium fast
  22. I think if you went with a shimano, daiwa, or Abu garcia you can’t go wrong with any of their reels and as for a rod a st croix or dobyns will treat you nicely really going with anything from all those brands that’s within your budget will have you satisfied they all make quality gear
  23. I never understood the people who complained about the gen4 side plates falling off….. I have 6 gen4 revo’s 4revo X’s and 2 revo SX’s and I’ve fished them for a couple years they are my daily drivers and I’ve never had the side plate come off or accidentally pressed the button it’s a seriously firm button/switch……. So I’ve never understood that notion….. worth noting I fish the SX’s every outting and only use the X’s sometimes because of what rods I have them attached too but still they get regular use In my humble opinion I believe the SX’s are very good reels I would recommend them to anyone and I’m sure the gen5 SX’s will be very good too….. I’d like to buy one but I probably won’t because I don’t need anymore rods or reels at the moment……… Also I bought my two SX’s for 140$ Canadian each so that also factors into why I feel good about them because I didn’t pay a big price for them and they have that “solid” feel…. not the lightest reel by any means but smooth and sturdy feeling and have yet to let me down just my opinion that they’re a good option if you wanna try a different reel, but I do know shimanos and diawas are more refined/better reels
