  1. I do not think a “dedicated” chatterbait rod is necessary. Especially fishing out a kayak I’d fish it on one of your more “versatile” rods and I’m sure you’ll be just fine. Now if you’re a boat guy with tons of storage space fill your boots and go technique specific for every rod. That’s just my 2cents for you being a kayak guy.
  2. It is a great feeling. I’m glad people can relate
  3. Well today was a special day for me…. My Christmas present to myself from myself arrived. Now I know this is now considered an “older” reel it’s going on 6 years old now, but I managed to buy myself a new unused Scorpion mgl 150. I know it’s not the fanciest reel or this or that…… But it is a reel I’ve wanted for quite some time and now I have it so I’m very happy about this and now I’m sharing this will everyone here…… What I want to know from everyone else here is….. Did you get anything exciting or that you wanted for Christmas fishing wise big or small…… Please share if you did. Thanks
  4. I’ve just been doing lots of reading lately on different companies and the various tech they put into each reel in each price point etc…… then I was thinking will there ever be a point where the tech from the higher end reels trickles down into the more budget friendly price points and then the high end reels become maybe not obsolete but not as desirable? You would think eventually they would run out of new things to add to the high end reels so it always has something over the mid end reel? I don’t know maybe I’m not getting my point across just a thought I was having…. What do all you think? How much better can fishing reels really get?
  5. Thank you that’s a very helpful and informative answer. That helps a lot
  6. Other than the spool size what’re the differences between the two reels if any? Anyone own 1 or both of these reels and have any opinions on them? The braking system is different between the 2 I think the mgl has 6 paddle arms and the 200 m has 4 paddle arms on the centrifugal brake? I could be wrong though. I would like to buy one, just curious if there’s any real differences other than line capacity?
  7. For my fishing I try to keep all my hooks gamakatsu but I stumbled upon Berkleys weighted wacky worm hooks and to my surprise they’re actually pretty awesome…. I don’t know if they’re even the “fusion 19” but they’re a Berkley hook I use and I’m happy with them. Having said that all my other hooks I won’t be changing over to Berkley because the gamas have never let me down.
  8. The smoke x reels are quite good in my opinion. You can pick them up for really good deals also when they’re on sale. Grabbed mine for 110-120$ Canadian. It’s a pretty darn solid reel no complaints.
  9. I have the 7’4 Heavy Fast Mojo Bass (not the trigon handle model although I would like one of those) and I’ve caught a lot of smallmouth on it up in Canada…… I’ve used the rod for quite a few applications…. I’ve frog fished in heavy cover all the way to throwing 4inch unweighted yum dingers around heavy cover and it launches them btw…. (Those type of deals on braid) I’ve also thrown moving baits paddle tails on jig heads and spinnerbaits……(on fluorocarbon)….. The tip of the rod is pretty soft for a heavy and actually loads up a decent way into the blank it’s quite nice…. It is not a “light” rod….. walking or popping frogs is fine but it’s no featherweight…. Overall I like the rod and think it’s quite versatile…. I do not have any plans to replace it that’s my 2cents
  10. If you could only fish 5 lures for the rest of your life what would they be? bonus points if you do a list for largemouth and one for smallmouth
  11. You mean to tell me your young child can’t skip docks with a baitcaster….
  12. 8.1:1 is truly never needed but certainly nice to have…. Basically most heavy cover situations is where it shines frogging, flippin n pitching etc
  13. 14-16lb recommend sticking to either Seaguar or Sunline for your line
  14. I’m looking to add another rod to my arensal…. Does anyone have any experience with this rod? Or the 7’3 MH/F “workhorse” rod since I’d imagine it’s a very similar rod….. Any info/input is appreciated thank you in advance
  15. Man I wish I could justify spending more money….. I see that trigon handle and I want some of those rods so bad….. although I still love my current mojos Also what does GF stand for in gf series anyways, all I can think of when I see that is girlfriend
  16. Dark sleeper, Tubes, Ned Rigs, Worms, Jigs Clear sky winter days have been best for me
  17. Today was a cold but sunny day and I had the itch to get out and try and chase some bronze beauties….. my cold water/weather confidence bait is the dark sleeper I just know smallies love it and can’t resist it crawling by them….. anyone else like the dark sleeper for cold water/weather?
  18. Thank you for the thoughtful reply that is good information
  19. Does anyone on here own any of these baitcasting reels or have any experience with them? I’m not interested in buying any of them personally just curious what people’s thoughts on them are and if anyone has any real experience with them Thanks
  20. Do these baitcasters have an audible drag? I’ve seen in multiple places it being advertised as having an audible drag and even videos where the reel has an audible drag….. but also have seen in multiple other places that the reels don’t have an audible drag so I don’t know which is true
  21. I’m talking about the smoke x baitcaster reel, my mistake I should’ve pointed that out it’s the only quantum reel I own so it’s my only reference point for the brand also
  22. Just curious what people’s thoughts are on these reels. I know they’ve been out for two years but I haven’t heard a sniff about them on here, I don’t know if they’ve just totally flown under the radar or what….. I own one of these reels and quite honestly don’t understand how there isn’t more praise for them….. for a reel that regularly goes on sale for 130-140$ Canadian I have a hard time finding a reel in that price point that is as good as this reel is, I’m not saying it’s the best reel by any means but for the price it really is a standout in my opinion….. just want to hear other peoples opinions
  23. I too am fond of both lines although this season I’ve mainly just used sniper….. but they’re both quality lines I would recommend both to anyone
  24. I looooove my mojos (the non trigon ones) they’re the only rods I own anymore to be honest…… I’ve sold all my other rods so now I exclusively fish mojos…… if any of them were to ever break I’d buy this new generation without hesitation they look very good….. and I’ve had such a good experience with the non trigon ones I have no reason to not continue using them.
