  1. I fished the one they just had @ lake Norman, although I didnt win any money I must say it is a very exciting touornament. I love the format and they usually send you a text message every hr. with the leading weights makes it very interesting, I look forward to doing it again next year. Good luck @ smith mountain!
  2. Has anyone fished there lately? I was wondering if the bass were spawning yet thanks
  3. Ive only fished it once but I done well on black trick worms on a shaky head and a black jig with a zoom black twin tail fat albert grub fished shallow aroung timber and bushes. good luck!
  4. I usually use a 7ft medium/heavy spinning rod with 8lb test mono. I will somtimes use 6lb line if the water is extra clear and alot of fishing pressure.
  5. Try a white strike king mini buzz, or tubes and grubs. They will hit the buzz bait even in the middle of the day! Good luck.
  6. If you haven't thrown a bubble gum fluke then you don't know what your missing.
  7. thanks for the replies, I actually don't use the mr twister brand any more either. I have been using khales grubs and a few others latley mostly in the rivers though. I have tried them in the lakes but haven't had that much success. I thought maybe i was doing something wrong. I still get the most bites on a slow steady retrive. In the river it is my favorite bait if im looking for numbers and not size.
  8. does anyone use mr twisters for smallmouth in lakes and if so what size, colors and how do you like to fish them? I do ok with a slow but steady retrive.
  9. nice pic's, i wish i caught fish like that when i was that age.
  10. reelmech, I sure wish I would have read your post before I took the reel apart. After taking it apart, looking at it, and thinking about it I did figure out that the noise would have to be coming from the spool. I went ahead and cleaned the reel and put a little bit of oil on it. The problem I had was getting the thing back together, took me awhile to figure it out but eventualy got it. It did seem to fix the noise for now but who knows if it will last. Also i am looking for another baitcaster under a 100 bucks, any reccomendations? thanks again for your help.
  11. thanks for the tips, I will take the reel apart this weekend since its to cold to fish and try to clean it. Hopefully I did not wait too long and already messed up the worm gear. If so I guess I will be looking for another reel to replace it with. thanks again.
  12. I have a bass pro shops extreme bait cast reel, when i cast this reel it makes a grinding sound but still cast very well and has no other problems its just noisy. this is the second one of these reels that i have had with this problem. The first one I bought I sent back and they replaced it. I talked to a guy at bps and he said that it had not been lubricated properly from the factory. they sent me a new one and it worked fine all last summer, but then last week it started making the grinding noise just like the first one. My question is if it just needs oil or grease how do i go about it. Im new to baitcasters and would appreciate any help. thanks
