  1. Nice! It's so hot here in Florida right now that I don't even want to think about fishing! :-[
  2. Good deal! St Croix is a good company to deal with. I've built quite a few rods using their blanks.
  3. I one of the one's that can say that. Me too! 8-)
  4. 20' Release Flats boat works for me. Easy to maintain! 8-)
  5. No way I can top the first one! ;D
  6. A friend of mine used to have one (probably still does) in the box. He also had 16 other Calcuttas!
  7. Or these... Shimano Calcutta TE Conquest 100 A guy sells them on ebay for $330! Shimano Scorpion Antares He has these for $515!
  8. My babies! My little 50! 8-)
  9. It should work fine. Maybe you're not casting as far because of the weight of the beetle spins and so forth (unless your Son is using the same thing and still casting further?)
  10. Wow! This is incredible! I can't wait! :
  11. Like I said earlier... both are good rods. I've built on a LOT of St Croix blanks and can tell you first hand that they make some top notch blanks! I've caught some big Bass on St Croix blanks including a 13.1 Bass, a 12.11 and a 10.6 all on St Croix blanks and they handled like a dream. If you're gonna go with a Falcon... the Lowriders are nice little rods from what I've seen (or so they used to be). In the end it will all come down to personal preference. 8-)
  12. Are you saying that the reel seat is loose? If so... a lot of people repair them by drilling a small hole in the reel seat (make sure not to drill into the blank) and pour some 5 minute epoxy down in there. Make sure the reel seat is on straight before you do so.
  13. I hear they are using ranch coated guides. :-? Sorry, I had to say that. I guess we'll eventually see how they turn out.

    hey

If you're talking to me... it was 10.6 lbs. Not sure where High Point is. Do you know where Murphy is?
  15. St Croix would be my #1 choice of those 2 rods. Falcon is not a bad rod either though.
  16. How much of the tip did you break off?
  17. Shimano all the way. Abu would be my next choice. I fish nothing but Calcutta's (just because it's what I like). Mostly 100's but I do have a 50 on a little 5'11" M rod that I built a while back. It's my travel rod. It's really personal preference. I like strong, small, round reels. Calcutta fits the bill and they have a very smooth drag system.

    hey

Howdy! What parts of N.C. are you from?
  19. Out of those 3... I'd go with the Bass Cat as well.
  20. Welcome! 8-)
  21. Wow! I guess there area lot of Jimmy Rogers out there! I was talking about the one who had a show that was very popular in the Tampa Bay area back in the 80's maybe even late 70's. He was usually fishing a Polk County phosphate pit and Bagley's was his sponsor. I did find this article which was about him: EX-CLASSIC QUALIFIER DIES. Two-time Bassmaster Classic qualifier Jimmy Rogers died Friday at a Tampa hospital where he was being treated for heart vessel disease. He was 63. Rogers, a 20-year host of a Florida fishing show, was granted a new lease on life in 1990 when he received a heart transplant after nearly dying from congestive heart failure. He rebounded and lived a full life until his heart was weakened by attacks in May and July. Rogers, who was recently inducted into the Polk County Sports Hall of Fame, is survived by Rachel, his wife of 41 years, as well as a daughter and granddaughter.
  22. Welcome aboard! 8-)
