  1. I have not use it yet, but it looks pretty good and a little bit lighter than the 20 & 23 Metanium which I both owned, Handle side spool bearing is moved above the X-ship bearing right next to the tension cap, not sure it matters, just FYI. Paint job looks good but it's too glossy for me, it'll get scratched easy.
  2. My last DC reel...................Maybe???
  3. I just placed an order this morning at Digitaka for a 24 Metanium DC 71. Bait Monkey won again! 🙉
  4. I know it's an older SVS infinity brake blocks in the video below, but I do this to my reels once in a while. WARNING: Reel could backlash a few casts after doing this so make sure the brakes are at max after oiling. 😁 (just my experience).
  5. This Dude is already on it!
  6. 200DC should be a little bit wider than the 150DC, 150 DC spool inside diameter can't be modified due to the size of the DC inductor/module, the only way to add more line capacity is to make the spool wider.
  7. Shimano was in the process of assigning/replacing new parts numbers for their reels, so if you search the website for the old part numbers (which you should) that was in the original schematic that came with your reel (typically starts with "BNT" or "RD") then it should give you a new part number. For example, BNT4343 is now 105C3. Good luck.
  8. If you decided to order the bearings directly from Shimano then here are the part numbers: 10EX8 – Shimano US Fish Shop $4.33 x2 (BNT3927) spool side X-ship bearing x1. handle shaft bearing x1. 105BP – Shimano US Fish Shop $4.33 x1 (BNT4194) handle side X-ship bearing. 10S37 – Shimano US Fish Shop $7.14 x1 (BNT5806) palm side spool bearing. 1005D – Shimano US Fish Shop $6.19 x1 (BNT5804) handle side pool bearing. I think the only Metanium that has the aluminum gears are the Shallow Edition and the new Metanium DC. (plus, the older ones).
  9. My apologies, I completely missed that it was a used reel. My experience with Shimano reels 2 out of 10 are they get "Raspy" after few times of using them specially when water get in those X-ship bearings then gets smooth after a while after a few drops of Bantam oil. Then the first thing that would give is the X-ship bearing (BNT3927), there is another one with the same part number for the handle shaft (located above the AR clutch bearing), typically I would just swap those two bearings when I hear the "Geary" noise with good result. If not, then I typically just replace the two (BNT3927 and one (BNT4194) just to be sure and instantly the "Geary" noise just disappears. I don't own any XG but I've heard that they're typically "GEARY" than HG and 6.x gear ratio.
  10. Brand new reels need a "break in" period. I would've just use it as is and see how it fish. Never open a Shimano reel under warranty, send it in within the warranty period if something is wrong.
  11. Bantam1 at TT mentioned it's the same frame size with new features. 2024 Shimano SLX 70 Question - TackleTour
  12. This new Metanium DC should be using the same 'NEW & IMPROVED' aluminum gear set as the Shallow Edition, Anyone have any experience with the Metanium Shallow Edition?? I would definitely wait for some reviews to come out first before buying this new DC reel.
  13. You are probably right, and the pictures shows it's got aluminum gear, though I never had any experience with the 15 Metanium aluminum gear, this new one should be better, and it should be the same as the one installed in the non DC Metanium shallow edition. Meaning if the USDM version is identical to the JDM version, then JDM I'm buying from Digitaka.😄 One thing got me thinking though, it looks like JDM version does not include Ci4+ but the USDM does (according to JP DeRose), it's no big deal as long as the handle side plate stays magnesium, if both side plates are Ci4+on USDM version then I'm definitely not getting the US version.
  14. The new SLX 70A looks like it's got a new paint job too and it looks pretty good! You guys think this new Metanium DC will come with brass gears or not? plus the handle looks like it's an 84MM, the reel is looking really good overall though.
  15. Which one in Daiwa line up comes with a true double pinion bearing support? Thank you in advance.
  16. I've been looking at the Daiwa Tatula SV TW 70 as my first Daiwa reel for a while now but couldn't find a schematic for it online, does anyone knows if it's got the double bearing pinion support or they call it hyperdrive?
  17. I'd focus on and getting the Curado MGL 150, better off the long run.
  18. I apologize in advance since I don't own any Daiwa reels, but you get the idea. Some of the reels below came with Shimano's small Septon handle knobs and immediately replaced with a larger knob or the whole 90MM handle assembly that came with Bantam XG, Curado K, and Etc. IMO, It's the most comfortable/perfect size handle knobs out of all Shimano's offerings. Maybe Daiwa will take notice and offer some options in the future?
  19. This is the only thing I use with my reels, never strip a screw.....ever! Wera 3355 Pozidriv PZ 0
  20. I would start with replacing the pinion bearing part #10EX6 before doing anything else. 10EX6 – Shimano US Fish Shop If no luck, then send it in @Delaware Valley Tackle for a deep cleaning.
  21. I don't own a SLX series reel; the lack of X-Ship in the SLX series is what makes me not want to own one based on my experience with the reel it replaced...The Casitas. I'm sure the SLX series is a fine reel and has the aluminum frame vs Casitas graphite frame, but I've been there done that...save or spend a little bit more money, skip the SLX line and go straight to the Curado line, better off in a long run. Just a suggestion though.
