I've mostly been tying flies lately, but I picked my jig tying back up this summer to tie some jigs for a buddy to take to Minnesota and our local rivers that my son fishes. I forgot how much fun I have tying jigs.
I started playing around with the preacher style jigs recently as well. They are really fun to tie. The 1/8oz size are killer on creek smallies.
Apparently I’m still figuring out how to upload pics on here
I know this is an old thread, but how did you do? I’ve never fished this area before but after looking at it on the map it looks like it might be a decent spot for kayak fishing.
Those look awesome! I want to try tying up some football heads with zonker strips like you did on the spinners. Kind of like a leech pattern maybe.
You guys making the hard tackle like spinner baits and crank baits really impress me.
Fly tying is exactly how I ended up tying these. I’ve been fly fishing and tying my own flies for about two years now and was tying some clousers when my buddy asked me to tie him some simple crappie jigs. Then that turned into tying these preacher jigs for another buddy and it just evolved from there. The small 1/8oz size (on the dark wooden table) work really well for smallmouth in the rivers we fish here in SWMO.
New to posting on the site, although I’ve done a ton of reading and research on here. The lures that y’all are posting look amazing. I’m almost embarrassed to add to it but here goes:
I took the dive into the hair jig world a while back and have enjoyed it immensely.
