  1. I've up north for a long time and owned a 19 foot Bay boat for years. Number one, 55 lbs of thrust is not enough, the high sides of the boat and the wind will have the final say. I would look to buy a 24 volt model and two lithium batteries. Having two batteries will balance the load (26 lbs X2) when you need to carry them to the chargers. Solar chargers don't usually charge at the voltage to charge lithium batteries and unless you plan to only fish at night and charge by day if you plan to buy lead acid batteries they won't solve your problem.
  2. Just guessing, I think all Lithium batteries that size are made in China. Some companies say they build them in the USA but the components are Chinese. These appear to be the same as Ampere Time or Chins, but I noted that I didn't see anything about having a BMS, and whether or not they can be hooked in series or parallel. That's the kind of information a serious company would note right off the bat.
  3. You have no instructions? The 3D module won't turn on without a signal from the yellow wire to do so. Go here and get some instructions. https://softwaredownloads.navico.com/Simrad/SimradYachting_Software - Copy/Downloads/documents/SS3D_IG_EN_988-10970-001.pdf
  4. There is nothing like the thrill of trusting a jerry-rigged but cheap way of keeping my $70,000 boat secured when I'm not there. Personally, I would spend the money and get something actually designed to hold boats securely (Happy Adverb Day).
  5. Maybe Lowrance can learn about programming Contour Tracking into the Ghost software rather than having to set a pile of waypoints up for trolling.
  6. The HDS's need to be hooked together by ethernet cable (special fitting cable) and the Ghost needs to be hooked up with NMEA 2000 network (You'll need a NMEA backbone, NMEA cables from each unit and the Ghost into the backbone and make sure to have Terminators at each end of the backbone, it also needs a power cable hooked to the backbone). Unless you buy the HDS units with transducers they will need them. You need to decide what type of transducers you want, such as 3in1, 2in1, structure scan, 3D structure scan, through-hull or Live Target. Mine is coming with Structure scan on transom for the console unit and Live Target for the bow. Once all is installed you can select at each unit what transducer you wish to use at any given moment (The ghost comes with an HDI transducer on its nose cone and an available 3in1 replacement nosecone for an additional $300, Active Target is attached on the trolling motor shaft(best) or by hose type clamp to the motor(eliminates switching to all three scan modes, not ideal). You don't really need a GPS antenna as the HDS units have fine antennas anyway. The Ghost has a separate electronic compass and syncs with the HDS GPS.
